I had to go on Facebook today (ew) and my memories reminded me it's been exactly five years since I got this tattoo. My commitment to antique jewelry goes hard - the inspiration was this Boucheron brooch.

im actually super normal and its not an issue that i spend all of my free time thinking about hockey and the players and their contracts and their interpersonal dramas and how its all just a soap opera and im so ready for hockey to be back already i miss her she is a kind of dead wife in the summer in the way that she is always haunting the narrative
If I still had a hockey podcast, this is definitely something I would talk about.
What a guy. What a fella.
wait so is the ire towards mush by other hockey fans warranted i want to hear about it from someone who considers him a criminal defendant
Okay, so my personal stance is that Mason Marchment didn't choose the embellishment life - it chose him. He is a truly awful skater - there are ample clips of him wiping out with no one around him, including while cellying. I once saw him trip over air during warmups and fall right over. He is a drunken baby deer. Pair that with his gangly arms and legs and his naturally expressive face, and he got a reputation for embellishment. So at a certain point, I feel like he decided to just fully lean into the villain edit. He grew a Snidely Whiplash mustache and started taunting other players and lashing out at refs. He said, "Oh, you think I'm a problem? Bitch, imma show you a problem." And honestly, I respect the hustle.
Like, 25 years ago, I broke up with my boyfriend in college and he became convinced I was sleeping with this guy in my creative writing class and told EVERYONE about it. And since everyone thought I was sleeping with the guy anyway, I ended up bringing him home after class one day and doing exactly that, because if I'm going to have the reputation I'm also going to have the fun. (Listen, I did a lot of ill-advised things in my early twenties). It was great, BTW.
Anyway, that's why I will always defend Mason Marchment. I also overreact, can't control my face (or my body), and will do things purely out of spite. I mean, how can you not love a guy who does stuff like this:
But also constantly acts as though he is the aggrieved party?
Your honor, he is innocent! Okay, fine, he did it. But let him go anyway!
JFK BACK IN DALLAS?????? OH MY GOD . OH MY GOD FEEL THE RAIN ON YOUR SKIN
Jim Nill taketh away and Jim Nill giveth backeth.
Thoughts on Mush moving to San Jose?
In a day of bummer news coming out of Dallas hearing that Mush has signed in San Jose brings me some measure of joy. Like, obviously my preference would always be to have him in Dallas, slutting it up with Tyler Seguin, but we are hemorrhaging players because we don't have any money. So San Jose is a great alternative! All those sweet fresh-faced children over there need a crazy uncle, and he is just the man for the job.
Sometimes you're just out at the antique mall, minding your own business, and you find an amazing 1970s art nouveau acrylic panel that's everything you didn't know you needed and it has to come home with you, because otherwise what is the point of being alive?
I wasn't even planning to go out today, but when my husband says he's going to the antique malls you can bet your ass I'm tagging along. So glad I did now!
Honestly looking so forward to the first Flyers-Stars games with this new guy and Lian Bichsel both in the lineup. It will be super murdery.
I just won an online estate sale/auction for two decent-sized lots of colorful vintage glassware (both under budget!) and I am very excited. Now I have to wake up at the crack of dawn and drive all over northern Colorado to collect them (along with some midcentury Finnish enamelware I got a great deal on), but such is the life of an aspiring dealer of vintage and antique goods.
The good news is, I have a driver tomorrow! Fred thinks he might be able to spot a mountain bluebird in Estes Park if I drop him off by some lake before I go to fetch my many, many pieces of glass.
I feel like I should clarify, when I'm talking shit about the broadcasters, that does not include my GOAT Emily Kaplan. She is always so great to listen to. Her delivery is so conversational, she's very knowledgeable, she's plugged in without being a show-off about it. She also wrote THE defining article about hockey butts.
I'll admit, I dont know much about Oliver Suvanto, but I like Finns and I like lorge saucy boys so he seems great.
KEEP JASON ROBERTSON'S NAME OUT YOUR MOUTH!
I had to mute the draft while I tried to concentrate on winning a sick lamp in an auction (I lost, boo) and now I find out I missed Welcome to the Black Parade? Emo feelings intensifying.
Every time Laila Edwards pops up on this broadcast, nature heals a little.
everyone makes bettman look so tiny i'm wheezing
He's like Evil Boring Yoda.
Gosh, that Matthew Schaefer kid is such a class act.
This draft is all over the place. Sometimes Justin Bieber announces a draft pick! Sometimes it's Laila Edwards! And sometimes it's ... Gary Bettman. What a letdown.
