CONFESSION TIME: I love style, but the consumerism of the fashion world often weighs me down. It's a concept with a lot of depth and intersectionality, but basically I feel like too many lives are exploited to make the clothes we wear (particularly in fast fashion) and (especially in the digital age) we constantly need to one-up ourselves and be the most stylish twenty somethings with the on-trend wardrobe. When I started Seventy8 West, it was with B and we wanted to blog not just about our clothes, but about the experiences we have. Since then, whenever I blog about clothes I feel so shallow. There is so much more to the world than popping tags and flat lays. Life is about more than envying a blogger's YSL or Chanel bag. I've always known this in my heart, but now I'll reflect that more in my content. I realize that I'm fortunate enough to have the means to update my wardrobe with amazing investment pieces and spontaneously buy the things I want. But I also realize that our value is not just in our closet and that's why I started columns like #TargetTuesday. Anyways, I'm going to go back to focusing on travel, since most of you engage with that content extraordinarily well. I'll also do more general lifestyle content about food, fitness, and yes... a teensy bit of style. I want my impact on here (no matter how small) to be about inspiration not envy, so here's my first step. Now please just bear with me as I fine tune a content calendar that better reflects this new direction. 🙏 In the meantime, keep following me on here to see what's going on and where I head next. ❤️
