garrett just loves to run his fingers through your hair while you try to study for an upcoming exam. he says it’s because he knows it’s making you relax and calm but the truth is; it makes him relaxed and calm. to be able to see the sleepiness on your face, knowing he’s the one doing that. he loves it. you’d tilt your head toward his hand without even realizing and all he’d do is watch the expression on your face, a big and silly smile on his own.

he’d get closer, try to have a look at what you are doing, even if you push him away with a laugh because he’s distracting you. you’re distracting him all the time so it’s only fair, no? you’d smile again, shake your head at him before going back to studying in silence. his eyes would travel around the line of your face, memorizing the contours and edges. “you’re so pretty.” garrett would end up saying, so quietly that you swear you imagined it. but you didn’t.

“you say that all the time.” you’d end up replying, rolling your eyes at his words, and he’d shake his head. “yeah, but i mean it. every time.” and the words would bring warmth to your cheeks, just as always. and he loves that. he loves running his fingers through your hair, complimenting you, loving you.

"you’re blushin’ bebe," garrett remarks, a smirk spreading across his face as he rests his chin on your right shoulder. his touch makes you giggle uncontrollably—it feels ticklish. you elbow him and say, "i— ‘am not. you’re imagining things."

he lets out a snort and effortlessly turns you to face him, boldly running his hands over your hips and thighs. "right, right. but, weren’t you the one who told me that won’t blush around me?" he questions, his fingers slipping under your sweater to touch your breast, his thumb gently circling your nipple. you sigh, feeling goosebumps down your spine from the sensation, closing your eyes as a moan escapes your lips.

but, when you realize you’re getting distracted, you quickly shove his hand away. "ugh, stop! you tease. i need to study."

garrett watches you walk away towards the bed with your book on your hands. for a moment, he swears he notices a slight change in your behavior that makes him believe you might be blushing.

oh fuck.

you were actually blushing.

he fucking knew it.

"see? you just proved my point," he calls out as he jumps onto the bed next to you. you grunt in annoyance, wondering why you're wasting time arguing with this stubborn guy who never backs down.

you decide to give in. "fine, you win. happy?"

"yeah, more than happy," he replies with a smug grin, which then turns into a concerned look. "but are you sure you don’t want to do something to distract yourself?"

you raise an eyebrow at him. he coughs and awkwardly rephrases. "i mean, it’s been two weeks since you started studying, and the exam is in a month?"

“yeah, i know, but—”

“no, i get it. i know it's important for you to pass, but you’re overworking yourself. you barely sleep sometimes… i’m worried you’ll burn out if this keeps up…”

you pause for a moment. he’s right. you hardly get enough sleep and can’t remember the last time you ate a meal. you've been so focused on your studies that you haven't seen any of your friends for at least three months. you smile slowly at the realization that garrett was worried about you.

“wait, are you worried about me?”

“isn't normal for a man to be worried for their girlfriend?” you chuckle at his answer, giving him a kiss on his forehead. “i’m just teasing you, garrett.”

you finally put your book away. giving your full attention to your boyfriend. “so, when do we start?”
