cant talk rn obsessed over the design concept of this 2017 production of pinocchio as a stage play where pinocchio is the only character played by a human actor and the rest of the cast are portrayed as puppets ,,,
like. how insanely poetic is this . you are a boy and you are made of wood but you know so entirely that you are more than wood, you are as human as anyone made of flesh and bone and it's not your fault that you came into the world with sap running through your veins instead of blood. and your entire life you are searching the world for what it means to be human but the dramatic irony of it all is that none of them know how to be human either. you keep reaching out for humanity and they seem so big and powerful but they are just puppets of a greater design too performing for an audience you cannot see. and whether you know it or not you are more human than any of them even if they are convinced you are just wood and paint and magic. im on the floor .im losing my mind over here. gimme a second guys hold on. wait a minute guys wait a goddamn minute like. wahta a good fucking design concept. head in hands !
Update on Luluci today is I have finished my sample for the shoulder detail that is seen early on in the series.
I considered not adding it, but I really love the detail, so I'm keeping it. I'm waiting on some red wool suiting crepe to come in(similar to the cream). I'll be matching the embroidery thread to the wool once that comes in. I want the embroidery to be able to disappear a bit but also remain visible, so I settled on a couched stitch to add a nice sheen and not add too much bulk or stiffness.
I tried a couple of different fill stitches but ultimately settled on the couched stitch for this piece as it would have the best flexibility and contrast. I may go back to catching 3 threads at a time though.
I'm super happy with the progress thus far and can't wait to get my hands on my fabric. In the meantime, I'll work on my mockup.
Also not sure that I mentioned this... I'll be debuting this at Anime Crossroads in March!
More beautiful tiles, every single one of these please
“Moonlight is sculpture; sunlight is painting.” - Nathaniel Hawthorne. Details of Abraham Pether’s night visions (1756-1812).
Started more work on the hat over the weekend and really happy with the shape and scale of the hat. I just got in the feathers for the wing pieces in today so I plan to get those together in the next week or two.
More on the hat soon. I plan to get the wadding on it tomorrow and will hopefully decide in the cape fabric so I can order that for the hat as well.
Voted today and saw our Goth squirrel on my walk.
Finally figured out how to build the hat plate! I started with the a cleaned up line art version and slowly built up the layers as I went. There are a couple of details that I could add to the plate but I need to become a little bit more familiar with the program before I can do them
I just need to adjust a couple of things on the staff top and to slice it up for printing now that my printing guy has given me a quote for the pieces and a few pointers.
Once I have my pieces ready for printing I will go back to working on some of the soft bits. I've been practicing some new techniques on an old wig so I don't mess up the wig I got for Luluci. When the wig is done I can draft the hat, then get started on the leggings/boot covers and the jacket. I'm saving the Cloak for last because I am still deciding on what I want to use for the silver details. I keep leaning towards military braid and military ribbon.
Illustration was done in Clip Studio Paint, 3D render was done in Fusion 360.
Still working on my Luluci cosplay. I have 3 more of the loop side of the frogs to go. Then I'll just have 5 of the post sides to make. I feel like they get better each time I make one.
I was finally able to grab these two to complete my collection!
Going to really start focusing on my cosplays once my November 1st release dnd map is finished.
I am very excited to share a few things that I modeled the past few days. I was really struggling with using Blender and swapped to Fusion 360, which is FAR easier for me to understand, having done hand drafting for a few years.
Anyway, I'm quickly figuring out how to use it and making good progress on some little pieces for Luluci.
Here, we have the staff head and a medallion that occasionally appears on the top end of the banners.
I used the cover image from manga number 9 for both and struggled to find any better views of the medallion.
I made educated guesses on the medallion symbols, but I think I'm pretty close.
Next on the list to render is the piece that appears on the bottom of the banners and the hat plates. I'll eventually also do the brooch that lives on the front of the cape, but that will come later.
I've been working on my build plan/schedule for the spring convention season. I try to make my workload a little light as I have a lot of other hobbies going in my daily life.
A few things on Mother Ghost AKA "momma" are touch ups, edits, or rebuilds. I'm a tiny bit nervous about the bodice and corset fitting correctly once March rolls around because I've been steadily losing a couple of pounds a month which *could* add up to about a 20lb loss from August if I keep this up. I won't be mad about it, of course, as the loss is intentional, but I would like my cosplay to fit. Which is also why some of the fitted pieces aren't being put together till January/ February
Tofu fried rice, hot oil bamboo shoots, sugar snap peas, and barley tea.
A quiet day of sewing.
Dinner the other day. I really liked this flavor. Added some sprouts, snap peas, and bamboo shoots with hot oil.
