Patchwork dressing gown c.1825
The dressing gown featured here is an extraordinary piece of hand work. The use of many different lively roller print patterns gives it an eye popping appeal and makes this piece a sampler of the various patterning from this period. Roller printing was introduced and then patented in 1783 in an attempt to reduce the cost of copperplate printing as well as to ease the printing process of small, repeat patterns.

A fishy Hanging Gardens. Iāve started calling it The Aquarium.
All 18 blocks will be identical instead of ombre or made from multiple prints like a jelly roll.
(did i get lazy and just pick the few fabrics we had with a yellow fish in them (and the shells to complete it) or was that a design choice i made on purpose???? idk š¤·āāļø)
Time to start lying it out.

Look at how the accent looks like little bubbles!!! Itās so cute, I love it! I canāt wait to see how this is gonna look when itās done.
Sheās so much fun!
Quilted bubbles on it because of course I had too lol
This turned out much better than I expected. I mean, I knew it was gonna look nice, but I really like it. Especially those small diamonds above the blocks.
Mum is going to Australia to visit her mum, sister, nephew, and grand niece later this summer and said she wanted to take this with her for my cousinās daughter.
Since she also likes purple, I used this Shimmer fabric on the back that is blue and teal bubble with a bit of purple in it, along with gold metallics. A co-ordinating darker blue bubble was used for the binding.

someone accused me of feigning a sexual attraction to spiders for clout. there's easier ways to get clout, man.....
Someone once called my 22 minute hand sewn 18th century buttonhole tutorial video "Empty, clout driven content" so I think some people will just say anything.
Had a soul-searing moment where I sat unblinking trying to figure out what a "hand sewn 18th century butthole" could be for, until I read that again.
(x)
Excellent timing, @vinceaddams. I've been queuing up some resources for 18th century butthol- I MEAN buttonholes, so this will be very useful š¤š»
