A lot of people are sympathetic to the concept of PTSD but not the reality of it.

They expect you to stare off into space or be sad, and they aren’t sympathetic to the angry moments, to strong reactions to triggers, to the paranoia and fear of abandonment, they aren’t sympathetic to the disorders that are often co-morbid like personality disorders, dissociative disorders, or psychotic disorder. There’s more to PTSD than just “being shy” or scared.

also a lot of doctors are only treat ptsd as “white” thing bc racial and generational traumas arent “valid”

there are white people even with ptsd who arent sympathtic towards people of color and our trauma because to white ppl our trauma isnt trauma its their leg up in society, i think ppl should be aware thats theres HUGE racial gap between who even gets treatment and empathy for ptsd

and for mentally ill people of color we are feeling the brunt of the negative sterotypes and associations about ptsd, its baked into our racial sterotypes

the “loud angry black woman” sterotype is just cptsd symptoms!!!! but we are laughed at and berated because of it, we are locked out of ptsd care and programs, alienated by society and even when black women uncover our traumas/ptsd and try connecting to others we are still shunned

for black women our ptsd cant be taken seriously until people take our personhood and humanity seriously, theres politics surrounding who can have ptsd and whos allowed to show symptoms

Traumagenic Systems Survey

So as I mentioned earlier on my blog, a mutual on Twitter started a demo for a survey for DID/OSDD systems to take to get a general overview of people’s experiences as systems and seeing it - being the stats fan I am - I offered to join up to help interpret the results and so I helped a bit with the questions and will help a lot with the numbers once we get a good amount of responses!

You do not have to be diagnosed to take this. 

You just have to be a traumagenic system.

Shout out to the people with traumas that don't get respected because they're not widely considered, like beastiality, cannibalism, cult or ritual abuse, insest, or any other think of as outlandish or unrealistic or uncommon. I know how hard it can be to feel like you can never tell someone because they wouldn't believe you or would be disgusted by you. You're so strong, and this will find it's place.

Also before coming on to this post and trying to disprove it or whatever, know that one of these is something we have personal experiance with and NO it isn't respected like other traumas are.

I don’t like to be a part of drama but I won’t be quiet when someone is telling that hurting littles (alters) is ok. Having sex with little is not ok, this is not acceptable. Sharing your expercience is not acceptable. You can’t have sex when littles front. You can’t have sex with a child. It’s rape. Littles are children. Just because you’ve been through something terrible in your life doesn’t mean that you have right to hurt others the same way. Littles need to be safe, you wanted to be safe when you were young. If littles front at the wrong time, it’s your job to keep them safe again as soon as possible.
