logically explaining the dream x dreamxd x dreamon dynamic with psychology that i just had a test on in my psych class xD all of this is /dsmp /roleplay /character etc
my personal interpretation of the dream dynamic is basically just sigmund freud on steroids bc it’s god uhhh yeah let’s get into it boys
dreamon aka the id: if you’re not familiar w freud the id is like the part of you that wants to fulfill human desires immediately (for example: i want that purse so i am going to steal it right now). except in the case of c!dream, the id is the part of him that wants to cause unrestrained death, destruction, discourse, etc
dreamxd aka the superego: according to freud, the superego is the part of you that deals with morals, what’s socially acceptable, and all around wants to be perfect. so in dream’s case, dxd wants control. dxd isn’t necessarily interested in what the dreamon wants, he just wants to establish that he has power & control and how he uses it could be for good or evil depending on the situation he’s in.
dream as the ego: the ego is like a referee between the id and superego trying to find a balance where it can fulfill the desires of the id while also doing it in a way the superego approves of. dream is basically in a constant state of tug of war between dreamxd and the dreamon and sometimes, depending on what situation he’s in, one side can pull on the rope harder than the other, like a defense mechanism. the dream prior to the disc wars and l’manberg was the dream most in control of dxd and the dreamon. dream during the wars and exile ? dreamon pulling on the rope. dream creating the prison and the vault ? dreamxd.
without the ego/dream, you get whatever the fuck is going on with dreamxd as displayed in george’s lore stream: dxd and the dreamon constantly and openly going back and forth with no middle ground. dream can pop in every once in a while but never for a significant amount of time because dreamxd and dream are separated entities. the dreamon and dxd are more prominent in dream bc a middle ground cannot exist without the extremes.

also in this hc/theory, the reason dream/dreamxd/the dreamon chose to separate dream from dreamxd is bc george: dream is the most human out of all of them and could best interact w pretty human boy.
