What makes it worse is that a concience their Soul Jam is the very reflection of their own self and deepest desires, there to remind them of why they hold, earn and the purpose their power. In other words, he was jumping himself.

In this part, the Soul Jam gave him a truthful answer, not to help him, but mock him of ever having a desire to be understood. Pioneer seeing it the first time, belived it, but seeing was the Soul Jam tricks and not a dream, thought he was "fooled."

And that there is irony. When Pyuba successfully merged with Shamil's Soul Jam, Light of Deceit "opened the curtain for a moment" (wherein peeking through it makes a "crevice"). That itself subconsciously wanting to be understood all the while harboring immense self-hatred. This is his painful truth he can never accept nor something he'd give himself.

And I made a meme out of it. :3

way too rarely do i see people acknowledge thats shadow milk's jester appereance and general aesthetic centered around theather isn't just some fun aesthetic choice or a very surface-level attempt at showing the idea of deceit through the performer putting on a mask or through the purposefully misleading court jester, but a statement about the concept of knowledge itself. it is a statement made consciously by the character in-universe, as well as an elaborate means of characterization revealing a fundemental part of how shadow milk sees the world

the jester is intentionally vague in terms of looks - resembling neither a medival court jester, a modern-day clown or any particular type of theather costume from the renaissance or onward - because it is simultaneously neither and all of those things at once. the jester is a playwright, poet, director, actor, clown - he's a writer, a philosopher, a performer - the jester is the idea of artistic expression in itself.

and through that the jester is questioning the very foundations of the way we define knowledge, he's asking everyone who defined his values for him why must knowledge be limited to true, documented, cold facts? why is the only valid way of knowing the world an exact science? why can one not know the world through art instead? what makes knowing through art somehow less than knowing through facts?

and it is because knowledge was only ever allowed to be a scholar, a teacher providing facts to those willing to know, that knowledge eventually chooses to become the jester, an artist, spreading equally as valuable ideas through the lens of the subjectivity intrinsic to the concept or art itself, a realm where not one thing is right or wrong and not one thing can ever be an absolute truth

and this is what the jester is. the jester is knowledge, as much as the scholar is. and this is why the jester lies - the jester lies because art lies, because art in itself is misleading because perceptions are misleading - because human emotions by their nature can't be labeled true or otherwise. and the jester is elevating art to knowledge, he's claiming its spot in the realm of knowledge and he's asking why one would deny it its rightful place -

and the most beautiful part of it all is that he is right.

For people struggling with getting a grasp on kr smilk's character I highly recommend seeing how Korean fans depict him in fanart and fanfics. I personally haven’t read any fics yet cause I haven’t had the time, but there’s a lot of good Korean artists out there who have a lot of fun with the character, in many cases it could help people who are still struggling a bit with how different he is to the en version

I was thinking about Sage of Truth, as one does at two in the morning, and I think I've settled on a characterisation for him.

He's supposed to parallel Shadow Milk in the sense that where Shadow Milk went headfirst into Deceit to cope with losing faith in the witches, Sage of Truth did the opposite. When confronted with the cruelty of the witches he embraced his role in that cruelty. Where Shadow Milk lies to make people happy Sage doesn't care how much the truth hurts, he will do anything in his power to make sure it is brought to the light.

He's essentially a religious zealot, where Shadow Milk rejected the cruelty of religion Sage completely embraced it and they both completely lost themselves in the process.

Anyways I think if Sage and Shadow Milk had to have a conversation Sage would completely rip Shadow Milk to shreds. His ass would not last two seconds in a room with Sage.

Anyways, he also doesn't display any of the physical affects of corruption because he didn't turn his back on/lose faith in the Witches
