Where are we going? Out dancing of course! No, the black and white coordinating outfits was a PURE COINCIDENCE! The theory is that we mesh so well as a group of friends that we inherited each other's styles. Again, it's a theory. If it happens next weekend, it's a freaky fact.
These were just awesome!
This weekend, I participated in a scavenger at the Southwest Arts Festival near the waterfront. Although we did not win, it was still a good time. At the Blind Whino, where the artwork is held, there is a great space that would be fun to have a graduation party.
The Capitol and the Botanical Garden/Conservatory
As part of The Washington Center's program, we have to have a public policy dialogue with someone that works in the government, specifically someone in Congress. Fortunately, we have a coordinator that got myself and a few other interns (all of us in the 5th district of Massachusetts) a meeting with Geoff Browning, a legislative assistant with Representative Katherine Clark (D. MA), who represents the 5th district. In the meeting, we discussed what his interests in public policy were as well as Rep. Clark's platforms and what is doing to accomplish her goals. He had a very interesting road map that led him to Congress and he loves his job. I have probably never met more people that are happy with their jobs than I have in D.C. By the way, the pictures on the wall represent all of the cities and towns that are in 5th district. Since I left work and walked to meeting, I got some great pictures of the Capitol.
Fortunately, I was invited to The Washington Center's annual Access and Opportunity Gala on September 29, 2014 that was held in the beautiful National Building Museum. It was a lot fun and filled with very important people like senators, representatives, university administrators, and the like. A few people were award recipients including Senator Kelly Ayotte. The food, the music, the company were all great! Thanks to Suffolk University for inviting me to sit at the table!
These were taken at the last batter and when the game was officially over and they all crowded the field! What a game!
Being in DC, we had to go to a Nationals game. This was their last home game on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. This game was historic because the pitcher, Jordan Zimmermann threw a no-hitter. YAY!!! What a way to end the regular season.
At the park, there were sprinklers! If you stand in the middle, you don't get wet; demonstrated by my roommate, Rachel.
After we got our cupcakes, we crossed over the bridge to indulge and had a beautiful view across the river.
Because we were in Georgetown, we had to visit Georgetown Cupcakes, made famous from Cupcake Wars. It is also delicious!
Following typical D.C. tradition, we went to brunch in Georgetown at a really nice Irish bar/restaurant. Mmmmm it was so good!!! The drinks are blackberry mimosas. Delicious!
Had to see this little nugget when I made a surprise trip home. Boy was she excited to see me.
Perk of being an unpaid intern...FREE FOOD!
First Patriots game of the season! Celebrated at the Capitol Lounge. Good fun, good beer, good energy!
This is the beautiful park near my job at the Office of Attorney General DC at Judiciary Square. A great place to have lunch.
