ryan picking up naim from work like those videos of dogs waiting behind the front door for their owner to come back. he's sat prone behind the wheel eyes locked on the entrance until finally naim walks out looking exhausted and makes a beeline straight for ryan's ute. as soon as he climbs into the passenger seat ryan huge grin tail wagging JUMPS on him and naim just sits there taking all the kisses ryan peppers all over his face bc he's long since learned it's better to let him get it out now or he'll pout the entire drive home

i also think i like it being softer? i didn't want to over-render this one because i have a terrible habit of polishing everything until it loses all its life. so i challenged myself to keep it really simple and basically blocked everything in using nothing but the hard airbrush in procreate

the first verse about lying about the scars immediately reminded me of this beautiful fic by @magneticghouls where they hide the bruises/wounds the entities leave on them from each other. i haven't stopped thinking about that since i read it!
- naim always looks so much happier in pictures after they leave town. You can tell both of them are happier together, away from the town. Somehow, maybe through Instagram or smthing, people back in their old town find their accounts. Neither post often, maybe they even share one account, but there are few photo dumps of their dates or each other. Noticeably happy. People see it and their names look familiar, and they think back fo the old missing posters around town. News gets to Naim's mother and she cries over the photos of her son and his boyfriend, her feeling like shes failed as a mother. On her screen there's Ryan and Naim smiling widely, cheeks squished together, light in their eyes.
- Ryan visiting Naim at work, one of Naim's co workers had tried hitting on him, before knowing he was Naim's already. Ryan chuckled at the workers advances but nods towards Naim and goes "im charmed but im already someones." That coworker was very awkward toward Naim for a bit after that
- one slow morning, mid 20s, Ryan wakes up, his leg thrown over Naim's, arms around Naim. Ryan kisses Naim's cheek and very sleepily asks "would you marry me?" Naim's eyes snap awake, he gives Ryan a look, Ryan chuckles and nuzzles Naim's cheek with his nose. "Im not askin you now, just for future reference." They cuddle in silence for a bit before Naim's answer comes very quietly "yah"
to give you a glimpse into the domestic future of the boys i think abt 24/7 i hc that ryan is touchy as hellll with naim all the time in the way of . hand on his thigh while he's driving, fingers intertwined on public transport, fucking footsie under the table at dinner. they arrive at a house party and ryan has his hand on naim's back that he leaves there the entire night. if naim untangles himself from ryan's hold on a hot summer night he'll waking up sweating with ryan's arms wrapped around him again even tighter. if they're not holding hands as they walk down the street you can bet ryan's hand will be on naim's waist, his shoulder, resting on the nape of his neck with his fingers in his hair. someone else flops onto a couch they're already sitting on and ryan pulls naim closer until they're plastered together and he can nose at naim's hair while they watch tv. everybody around them always notices and think it's the funniest thing ever bc . dude fucking chill we know he's ur man ain't nobody taking him from you but ryan is just physically incapable of not touching naim every waking moment unfortunately
ryan loves using terms of endearment on naim, calls him baby, sweetheart, babe, love, never raises his voice at naim even when they fight but also never says i love you because he's terrified of things becoming too real.
naim never calls ryan anything other than his name (and the occasional dick, cunt, asshole but he never means it), but he's the first to say i love you between the two of them, because he's brave like that.
ryan is the more protective one out of them two, but naim is brave enough for the both of them when it comes down to things like that.
