Since starting my MFA 6 months ago the days have turned into a blur of thinking and making. The reasons I chose to go back to academia have taken a slight backseat while I’ve focused my attention toward the opportunities SVA has been presenting.
A question that constantly comes up from friends...
Sweat Factory what I know
Two years ago, a serials of exploded news happened at the Shenzhen, Foxconn company, 9 workers suicided one by one. Then Terry Gou, CEO of Foxconn, involved in the apologizing crisis for a long time.
Seriously, when you know how your polish 3D product come from, you may not that admire and fancy with that. I am one of the guys who feeling complex with apple product.
One the website, there are fruitful reports and command related the sweat factory, but sure, in Chinese. Here are some command I found is really unique and interesting, I am planning to translate them lately. But if you could read Chinese, you could go through it now.
About the latest New York Times report about the Petitions protest Apple working conditions in China, here is an interesting command,
Basically ,what he said is "I disagreed with the petitions only point to the most famous company, like apple. There are millions of products, especially the Christmas decorative stuff in US are OEM at China, among which 5.6 billion are from a rural area, named Linxi where workers are from 5 years old to 85 years old, working 13-17 hours every day, no any social welfare. If you know this, how do you feeling about your Christmas? "
Here are another interesting report about why apple fans not that care about the sweat factory I am planning to translate it into English, too.
One of my classmate, Prachi, who would like to raise public awareness of the story behind the polish app product, had published a video about the ifactory.
