A re-telling of my AU cause I felt like the first one was just word vomit.
The Fog Wall is not alive, though many believe it is. It is a massive, unending storm that takes ships seven days or more to cross if they survive the journey at all. Countless vessels have vanished within its mist, never to be seen again.
Unknown to most, the storm is haunted by three restless spirits the souls of dragon royalty who perished during the Great War between humans and fae. Betrayed by those they believed to be their allies, their hatred and sorrow became forever bound to the storm, turning it into both a prison and a warning to anyone who dares approach.
During the Great War, the lands now known as Twisted Wonderland suffered the greatest devastation. Across the sea, Umberland remained largely untouched, choosing instead to support neighboring kingdoms with supplies, resources, and refuge rather than joining the fighting directly. Many kingdoms fought to remain neutral, while the Kingdom of Moore openly aided its fae allies.
The Kingdom of Moore had been built atop vast deposits of precious gems, enchanted metals, and other rare resources. These riches were generously sent to Briar Valley to help sustain the war effort. While many praised Moore’s generosity, Queen Maleficia did not. She grew resentful that one of her few allies possessed such immense wealth and gave it away so freely. To her, Moore’s prosperity threatened Briar Valley’s influence, and jealousy slowly gave way to ambition.
Driven by that envy, Maleficia secretly forged a temporary alliance with the Silver Owls. In exchange for helping them breach the Kingdom of Moore’s powerful defenses, the Silver Owls promised to weaken a kingdom that Maleficia had come to see as a rival. It was a bargain neither side intended to honor for long.
The Silver Owls launched a devastating assault, overrunning Moore’s capital and laying siege to the royal castle. At nearly the same time, WildRose Castle fell under attack as well. The coordinated invasions activated a final contingency that the kingdoms of Umberland had prepared long ago: the creation of an immense storm barrier that would seal their lands away from the outside world. The Fog Wall was born, swallowing the sea in endless winds and impenetrable mist so that no invading fleet could ever pass again.
Only moments after the barrier was completed, the King of Moore and his parents fell in battle defending their kingdom. Their deaths were filled with betrayal, grief, and fury. Those emotions refused to fade, binding their souls to the newly formed storm. Even centuries later, their spirits remain trapped within the Fog Wall, ensuring that the barrier never weakens and that those responsible for their downfall are never truly forgiven.
Due to the fog wall, many lands near it have experienced dramatic climate change. Ex. No Man's Land and Sunset Savanna, both lands used to not be the climate it has now, i.e tropical like weather and hot/dry weather.
It took a whole day for the fog wall to fully set and seal, so in the meantime, Silver Owls took as many gems and other materials as they could.
The Moore Kingdom had sent over more than half of its military to aid Briar Valley.
Many men and women had been declared "Missing" or "K.I.A" (Killed In Action)
That's all I have. Thanks to one of my IRL friends who helped me refine and edit this.
