BASICS.

My minimum requirements are accessible information and trimmed threads. I don't write RPF or with self-inserts. I encourage DMs for whatever purpose, and mutuals may ask for my Discord. If I don't respond to DMs, send another message, you are not bothering me. I do not “like” my mutuals' posts, I use the like page to keep track of resources and threads. I comment on my mutual's non-RP posts unless I'm asked not to. I don’t talk in the tags to avoid clutter, but I don't mind if you do.

If I am ever insensitive, overstepping, offensive, or annoying, let me know off-anon; I don’t trust anonymous asks. Cultivating a safe environment and understanding my place in discussions is important to me.

Unless it is recently made, spoilers are untagged. My deadline is a month but if asked I can extend it. Content warnings (blood, injury, abuse, etc.) are tagged accordingly, but severity and frequency varies. If you need a fandom tagged, I will tag in a way to avoid appearing in search results. THREADS.

I prefer plotting but I’m not against winging threads. If I lose motivation, I will put it on the back burner. If I want to drop it, I’ll let you know beforehand. I have the right to drop any thread(s) whenever, as do you. Reminding me of a thread we have is fine! I will not hound you for replies or new threads and I expect the same courtesy. I don’t cap threads or starters.

I’m a multi-para roleplayer that can do novella if inspired. I'm open to one liners. I indulge in shenanigans and dash commentary. I try to match length, but my prioritize is continuing the thread. My formatting includes big and small text, bold, and italics. I rarely use strikethrough. I format asks I receive into posts and continue answered asks into new posts. For graphics, I use a border, divider, and sometimes icons. I’ll use plain text if asked.

RELATIONS.

I don’t do exclusives, I do mains and affiliates. Plotted relationships of any kind are welcomed. I adore OC and canon, unconventional crossovers, and rarepairs. I am multiship and easily ship with chemistry. Descole's tone is positively accusatory, accompanied by a scowl for good measure, and some vague gesturing with their flask. "Nagging does not become you either, Ascot. It makes you sound as though you care, and I don't really care for that."

It would be just their luck for Randall to care. It's not that Descole believes there's a finite amount to be alloted to them, no—or at least they wouldn't admit it. But it feels like a waste—waste of time, waste of energy, waste of everything. Surely Randall Ascot in his wonderful, glorious, beautiful life has much better things to do than waste time caring about his ex-partner! And it must be true, Descole decides abruptly, because people with far less to worry about than Randall and far more reason to care about them have failed to.

... But it would be just their luck if that weren't the case. After all—Descole and all their previous incarnations do have such terrible luck.

"Why should you even care if I look a fool? 'm just another of Montedor's idiotic tourists to everyone but you. Who cares if I'm a mess. This whole city is a mess! Who cares if I lack—dignity? Nobody else here has it, Ascot. I'm—anonymonous. Ngh—anonymous. So why don't you just get back to whatever it was you were doing, and I'lllllll get back to trying to accomplish that drinking until I forget."

RANDALL LEANS AGAINST THE WALL again. His squinted eyes and pinched face could be mistaken for a look of contempt, but the truth is he's faint. Sweat clings to his body, but he's cold from his feet to his head. As he raises a hand to feel his forehead, it doesn't escape his attention how it shakes. Grinding his teeth together, he moves hair out of his eyes and grips his scalp tightly. It stings just enough to keep his attention. Keep him grounded. His therapist tells him it's not a good coping mechanism, but having a bloody panic attack now of all times would be far more severe.

SO MUCH FOR THAT COMPOSURE, if it was real in the first place. Jean's words repeat in his head, layered over each other, until they blend together in an indecipherable cacophony. His eyes squeeze close and he exhales heavily. "Shut up," He hisses, the hand in his hair falling to pinch the bridge of his nose. It's too loud. It's too much. His heart hurts. Blunt nails dig into his skin. Words on the tip of his tongue refuse to leave his mouth, and he's left gaping like a fish out of water. "Just-" Randall breathes in suddenly and presses the heel of his hands into his eyes.

"Get out. Police'll recognize you." Randall drags his hands down his face. One grips and twists his shirt while the other idles by his side. Weary exhaustion shows on his face, as does his age. ". . . Yer worse. No reason t'be here. But." Instead of finishing, he gestures at them wordlessly. His eyes want to close. He wants to sit, maybe collapse. Maybe drink a bottle. Randall does nothing, of course, besides stand there and internally yell at himself not to crumble. He hates Jean Descole.

A LIGHT FLICKERS ON IN HIS HEAD, REMINISCENT IN HIS EYES which gawk with realization. No, in truth, Nata didn't think much about the spectrum of colors or how combining them worked—even if he found color fascinating itself. It wasn't like he had taken art classes . . . but more importantly, the Keepers of Sild were so utilitarian in their teachings, prioritizing necessity and abidance to their work above all else, and that reflected onto their youngest member, who had not so much as witnessed a true sunset until after he'd been plucked from the wastes outside Monte d'Or.

"Really?" It's like an epiphany in his head, and that single hint is all he needs to consider a different approach at these puzzles. Perhaps a little sourly, Nata thought that these things required careful study and couldn't be taken at face value. He never would have thought that he'd have to apply a basic understanding of primary colors to find the secret, true answer.

A bit annoying . . . but in hindsight, he would look back on these things and realize that that the point.

So swiftly does he return to his notebook, sitting himself down on the pavement. He resumes the same scribbles and lines that Luke would not have been able to decipher, but were clearly done in a legible and thoughtful manner, indicating that it was a written language. Nata ran his tongue over his top lip thoughtfully, pausing every so often before he'd jump to the next line and continue the equation there.

This time, and with more fervor, he stamps his pen nub into the notebook with confidence, then looks at Luke with a sincere expression. "A hundred and twenty, then."

WITH JUST ONE LOOK, LUKE understands the hint got across. Hopefully in the right way. That light in Nata's eyes inspires confidence, but he can't be sure until the end. A good puzzle can take you on a winding journey—which is more important than the answer in most cases. That's what Luke likes about puzzles, the in-between; the adventure of finding the answering and learning about the world.

HE NODS IN CASE Nata was really asking for confirmation, but he gets the sense the question wasn't seeking an answer. Again he watches Nata draw with purpose, frowning as he rakes his brain for answers as to what could be conveyed with those odd lines. Well, convey to himself, not to Luke. It must be his language. He's no expert, but that doesn't look like any rune or writing from the Azran. Wait a minute. If it is another language, then is Nata translating what Luke said? That's not an easy feat! Maybe it's just different numbers, but it's still cool to see.

LUKE REMAINS SILENT, BUT THE anticipation is getting to him! It's definitely ungentlemanly to interrupt someone's thinking process, even if it's by accident. Some puzzles have taken him a long time, days even, but the answer came when he had silence and complete focus. In fact, he's so focused on Nata focusing, he startles when the other finishes. It takes him a moment to process what's said. "A hundred and twenty! Exactly! I knew you'd get it." Luke cheers with a wide, toothy smile. "It wasn't that hard, was it?" He tilts his head to peek at Nata's page again. "What did you write down, by the way?"

FOLSENSE IS A FORGOTTEN TOWN far from Pupu village and isolated from most of Dreamland. It's not found on contemporary maps and eludes the public's conscious. The handful of people who remember Folsense live several miles away in Dropstone, a rural agricultural village excluded from Dreamland's chaos. Those same folk weren't willing to talk about Folsense until Anton Herzen, the former duke's eldest son, entered the public eye again. Decades-old rumors of curses and cursed objects were finally put to bed, tearful reunions were had, and the area's vampires had a safe haven again.

. . . WELL, IN TIME, THEY WILL. Folsense is still a ghost town in need of repair and updating. Anton has the money—the gold and jewels, specifically—but even with the help of Dropstone's residents, the labor is too much. He needs more people. He needs a better understanding of the new world around him, really. Anton went from Folsense to Dropstone repeatedly when reconstruction first started. It wasn't hard to step into the shoes of a noble official again, but it was hard talking to people. Etiquette is different and still not in a way that favors him. Oh well, he's used to being the eccentric one.

LUCKILY FOR ANTON, HIS BROTHER owns the luxurious and expansive Molentary Railway Express. It spans the entirety of Dreamland, with train stations in every major community. Word spread quite easily. Anton prefers to be hands-on every step of the process, demanding every detail to his high standard. Nigel, his faithful butler, helps him along the way. Katia, though less involved, is still considered for input. Anton wants to know what she thinks . . . about everything. There's so much lost time to make up. Mr. Beluga, as his younger brother is known, is also considered to a degree. Yes, they were happily reunited, but that doesn't erase bitter feelings. Time can't erase the fact Friedrich forfeited his right as Duke when he left town.

BUT FAMILY DRAMA IS SUCH a bore and a dreadful one at that! Anton comes to Pupu Village to relax and have fun with the locals. It really is a quaint little oceanside town. He's never been so close to the ocean! There's all sorts of interesting shells. The forest is nothing to sneeze at, beautiful and filled with critters. It's properly scary at night, which he can always appreciate. Pupu Village is the vacation he's never had. Sure, there are invading horrors frequently, but most of the time they're artificial creatures. Nothing unheard of or cause for concern, at least for Anton.

THE ONLY PROBLEM IS, UNFORTUNATELY, inescapably irksome. King Dedede is one of the worst creatures Anton's ever met. Just hearing his obnoxious voice makes Anton stop short and debate if what he's doing is really worth it. What he is doing is trespassing: no one invited or welcomed him into Castle Dedede. So. This is worth it because he delights in disrespecting Dedede, even in subtle, unnoticeable ways. His joy is short-lived, however, because Dedede is yelling loud enough to give Anton a headache from a room away. He doesn't have to guess who is on the receiving end, the context is revealing enough.

ANTON SMILES SWEETLY AS PAMU speaks to him, tilting his head ever-so-slightly. "I apologize for frightening you," He says calmly, hands held together in front of him. He is genuinely apologetic; Pamu doesn't need a heart attack on top of the hurricane of words he just endured.

"I would very much enjoy sharing a drink. Talk as much or as little as you wish. And please, call me Anton. There's no need to be so formal."

TESTING THE CHEMISTRY / plotted

IS IT REALLY SO HARD for adults to speak without mincing their words? See, his sentence sounds simple, but there's a few words that tick off very important boxes in her head. Her father and etiquette tutor painstakingly taught her the importance of words, but catching double meanings still elude her. Is this man irked by her presence? It isn't polite to stare, she knows, but is it that big a deal? He's a scholar. All he does is look at stuff, whether it's a book, a paper, or wall.

NO, HE SAID THAT CLOSE. Is she closer than necessary? No, there's a fair distance between him and the wall she's peeking around. Maybe it's because she's been here for so long. Maybe she's overthinking things. Either way! He initiated conversation, not her, which works just fine. Maybe he's just as curious as her. Scholars do like learning. He studies the same discipline as Luke's parents. She asked, and Miss Brenda said he is top of the field. An expert in the Azran civilization, an ancient people known for leaving their things everywhere. That's what Arianna got out of the conversation.

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do." Arianna holds her chin high and comes out from behind the wall. Her arms are crossed behind her back, fingers tightly intertwined. Despite her clean and prim appearance, she rocks on her heels. Her little frown and big eyes are nervous, but she stands tall.

"I hear you are a professor in Archaeology," Arianna speaks fast without stuttering, belying she rehearsed these lines. "I was waiting to ask if you learned anything yet. About this place."

NIGHTCLUBS NEVER WERE HER SCENE, though Claire appreciated drinking with friends after a long day. Calculating formulas and testing hypotheses could wait, aligning erratic college schedules could not. In the months leading up to the test, Claire spent more time working and studying. She regrets that now. She supposes most people would after their hard work ends in failure and death. She also supposes that is why Hell is her afterlife: nothing says pride like trying to defy the laws of reality.

VELVETTE’S NEWEST FASHION LINE IS a huge success to no one’s surprise. The woman works hard and knows her stuff. Claire prefers her timeless pieces over contemporary trends, but that’s a matter of perspective, really. What’s new now will be old in time, and if she’s still around, her opinion might change. Might being the keyword, it’s hard to beat the classics. Anywho, the Vees are throwing a grand celebration as a result. It’s almost classy, but too much vulgarity exists in the decorations and outfits. She’s used to lewd displays, but they’re not her favorite.

SHE’S BIASED, OF COURSE. CLAIRE can admit that to herself. She keeps her distaste to herself; it’s hypocritical to condemn two Vees but date the other. She didn’t mean to fall in love, but she did and they’re happy together. For better and worse. Claire doesn’t expect Velvette to change her ways, that would be unfair and arrogant. Hell is violent and lacks forgiveness. Velvette would only get hurt if she showed any “weakness”—the princess of Hell is the best example of what kindness gets you.

“It would be fascinating, wouldn’t it? The possibility of redemption?” Claire says, her white-gloved hands daintily in her lap. Dressed in the finest silk dress tailored to her figure, her presence demands respect. If not because she exhibits class and elegance, then because she’s seated right next to Velvette as her plus-one. “It would be a sort of transmutation of the soul. Precisely like a lesson in alchemy. Oh—!” She exclaims lightly because of the thought that just occurred to her, and because Velvette leans close. She smiles and laces their arms together.

“Does your magic mirror any alchemical practices, I wonder?”

thinking about how, late-game, it’s implied dahlia is in need of repairs. i’ve said before dahlia is aware she (and all other villagefolk) are robots due to the clash in her programming (viola’s memories contradicting her priorities), so it isn’t farfetched for her to know when she’s in need of maintenance. without fail this terrifies her. she worries about another mind wipe happening and succeeding. she worries losing what little self she’s built up. she worries about losing the remnants of a life not hers, but give her peace. a fool’s hope that she could one day live as happily as viola once did.

once flora is gone, dahlia is put in a unique situation. bruno chooses to stay in the village to watch over everyone. could she fight for her autonomy and find herself, or should she stay in the role she’s played for who-knows-how-long? what if bruno reacts unfavorably and deactivates her? what if she stays off forever? maybe he’d be kind and understanding, but what if that’s a ploy to lower her guard? it’s not a gamble she wants to take, but living miserably is unbearable. must the charade continue when there’s no audience?

by default she remains in the village to setup the post-canon i have in mind for flora, but i do like the idea of an au where dahlia (+ claudia) run away from st. mystere

dahlia is the wire mother to viola’s cloth mother. U ever think about how, despite dahlia being called the late baron’s wife, her and augustus “relationship” is scarcely referred to? Her being a maternal figure to flora was more important. that didnt go over well for obvious reasons, namely because the baron wiped her original personality (closer to viola’s) and replaced it. the baron has good intentions but it’s mindboggling how controlling he is.

granted he did not see dahlia nor any of the robots as people, but consider how he left flora: in an isolated village she’s not to leave surrounded by people who arent human (she’s never told this but she assumedly figures it out), trapped in a huge, empty, and precarious tower WITH NO SAFETY RAILS OR ANYTHING. flora lived at the very top in a small house. the only person he assigned to watch over her was old man bruno, living in the basement, who took better care of the machines than her. We have no idea if they interact. then the baron set up the inheritance puzzle where the person who solves the mystery of the golden apple becomes her guardian (or, per the japanese version, has her hand in marriage).

good intentions is no excuse, he robbed flora of her agency and personhood. he allowed her to live in a fantasy she didnt ask for or greatly like. he isolated her and ensured whoever came for her (the “golden apple”) would meet HIS expectations, aka be someone like him. he didn’t prepare her for the world at all, leaving her dependent on whoever finds her/he posthumously picked for her. What. This is more insidious imo if you follow the jpn version where he’s finding her a partner for life.

Back to dahlia. bruno made dahlia in hopes of cheering up the baron, but he couldnt stand dahlia looking and acting so much like viola (fair). flora already met her at this point. then the personality change happened and flora got scared, wanting nothing to do with her. in the game, dahlia is linked far more to flora (vaguely as to not spoil the twist) than her Alleged husband. environmental clues and her dialogue make me think she is maternal over flora but also has complicated feelings, understandably.

she didnt have a choice in becoming a wife or mother but the love she feels is real. as is the pain from being denied those experiences. she sympathizes with flora but also wants her gone because surely her absence would be easier to deal with than her presence? No but it’s too late to undo what’s changed
