Shark and Bubbles by David Doubilet
@sharks-official
Lemon sharks are often seen in groups with a structured hierarchy system based on size and sex. They generally don’t show any aggressive behavior with each other and coordinate for hunting purposes.
I clicked sound expecting some tumblr shit where there’s some heavy metal playing or something, but instead it was the sounds of its little hooves clapping against the wet sand as a bird gently cried in the distance and that’s so great.
So if you guys don’t know about Epaulette Sharks, you better watch this now! This juvenile is the cutest little sea puppy and he’s always happy to greet us when we come up to the glass.
Also, they walk along the sand using their fins which is amazing to watch.
A nice wet puppy
@discovery this is the kind of stuff I would like to see on Shark Week thanks
@sharks-official
You will never see it coming.

Helicoprion is best known for being the world’s only animal, past or present, with a complete 360-degree spiral of teeth.
I almost tagged this as misinformation but actually it’s real (wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicoprion)
@sharks-official

SKARK ATAC!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes when cookiecutter sharks shed their teeth, they swallow and digest them, possibly to strengthen their skeleton with calcium.
#tbt to 2010. This is a portrait of my favorite great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias), “Cal Ripfin.” Cal’s name is based on a combination of the famous Orioles player and the fact that his dorsal fin is mutilated.
Cal is also known by the nickame “Shredder,” a name that was given to him for shredding a boat’s anchor line. He was a regular visitor to Isla de Guadalupe for many years, and whenever he was around, my camera got a workout.
Cal hasn’t been seen since 2011, and his presence at the island is greatly missed.

<3 Cal Ripfin.
endangered sharks
just saw (and reblogged) the post about whale sharks joining the endangered species list and it makes me SO sad!!! PLEASE read about it and spread awareness. this is not ok...whale sharks are so cool (a major understatement) and we do NOT need another species to go extinct on this planet
