"Yeah, you're right" Shay snapped, "I am damaged! But that doesn't mean people just get to walk away from me." She waved her arms angrily and the hurt was evident in her eyes, they were glistening with the threat of tears.
"I'm not some broken doll that you just put back on the shelf and forget about!"
Also a quick note to those following me, sorry I’ve been away for so long, I’ve had the busiest spring/summer ever as I’m off to university, however I miss Shay and am so willing to thread with anyone or I am also accepting drabble/fic requests if you want to send those in or any questions you have for my self-absorbed bubblehead over here
The corner of Shay's lips turned up into a smirk. Her intended ambiguity was obnoxious as she felt a wave of self importance at the fantasy of intriguing another person with a mystery. In all honesty, she was just another stupid runaway, always running. Her story was nothing, but she liked to pretend it was everything.
Safe. Sure, it was all safe. All the grey walls and grey floors and grey looks from grey faces. All of it was safe, and Maggie was trapped behind the walls of the most unsafely safe place in the city. She cast her blue eyes down again, and shrugged once more. “My name’s Maggie Rivers. But it doesn’t really matter anyway; not like anybody cares what our names are when we’re stuffed into a place like this.” Her words were just as grey as the building itself, filled with rain like that crashing outside the windows.
Nothing meant anything here.
She stepped inside and Maggie’s gaze flickered up, looking around the room, when she spotted the bubbly girl.
Rocket. That was an interesting name, at least, and she seemed friendly enough. Friendlier than the dark haired girl, anyway. Maybe Rocket was more insane than her guide.
At the explanation, Maggie’s blue hues flickered confusion. “What do you mean clients?” she asked naively. When she heard the rest, the girl’s heart was in her mouth and her stomach was through the floor. She felt nauseous.
"—- Oh." That was all she could mange. So, she’d gone from being a daughter and a sister to being a murderer and a whore. That was something she could never even have dreamed in the darkest nights of her life. She looked at the dark haired girl, her small hands tightening around her spare clothes until her knuckles were white.
"Who’s the High Roller?" she asked suddenly, her voice small and barely audible.
"Well, Maggie Rivers, We're going have to find you a better name, Ragdoll Maggie Rivers won't do anything for the customers." Shay rolled her eyes, this girl was grating on her nerves slightly, and quite frankly she didn't have the time of day.
Shay inwardly groaned, shutting her eyes in disbelief when Maggie started. Not this explanation, not again - she was honestly sick of it - Why couldn't for once in this den of displeasure couldn't someone just walk in and not be the deer caught in the headlights?
Then she saw the realisation hit, and she sighed in relief. Shay stopped herself from reaching out, putting a comforting arm on Maggie's shoulder - the way she did with her sister. "Oh good, I don't have to spell it out for you then?" A reluctant smile played at her lips.
"Relax, He's just the one with all the money - Blue's cash prize. Please The High Roller and everything goes smoothly, we mess up? Who knows what happens. Who told you about him?" Shay furrowed her brow, Maggie had been in Lennox House all of 10 minutes, how did she know about the High Roller already?
