Day 4: Duluth, Minnesota

We made it to Minnesota! tonight we are staying in the cute little town of Duluth.   Our friend Becca’s dad recommended we check out a restaurant called Grandma’s so we did! It was so good! It was just a fun atmosphere! After we walked along a pier over Lake Superior! It was really dark, cold and windy but beautiful! There was an abandoned lighthouse at the end of the pier too! We wanted to climb to the top, but I don’t think that would have been very safe!

Day 4: Milwaukee

Part of our bucket list is to see every Major League Baseball stadium. While we were in Milwaukee, we had to mark off Miller Park, home of the Brewers! Unfortunately, they were still in Chicago so we didn’t get to go to a game. But we made sure to say thank you for the Cubs loss yesterday! 

After we stopped by the stadium, we went to a cute little park where we rented a quadricycle! Trust us when we say they’re cute, but they are HARD to use! I think we averaged 3 mph on that thing! We peddled along Lake Michigan and had a stellar view of downtown Milwaukee! Our legs were jello by the time we were done, but we still had a blast!

Now we're off to Minnesota!

Day 3: Welcome to Milwaukee

After the Cubs-Brewers game, we packed up and headed north to Milwaukee, Wisconsin! As we crossed the state line into Wisconsin, Rachel donned the infamous cheese head to officially welcome us to the state! Somehow, she kept it a secret from Addison, but Hannah found out about it beforehand! Addison was shocked, to say the least! 

For dinner, we found a local diner featured on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives called Miss Katie’s Diner! It has been visited by many celebrities and politicians including Donald Trump, Michelle Obama and Hilary Clinton. They had pictures on the walls and even some cardboard cut-outs of them! It was nearly empty but the few people that were in there were very friendly and welcoming! We talked baseball with them and proved that these girls know our sports! The food was great and we recommend it to all!

Later, we checked into our Airbnb and watched classic vines until it was time for bed!

Day 3: Wrigley Field

Today we spent a good amount of time at Wrigley Field watching the Chicago Cubs vs the Milwaukee Brewers! We made sure to each wear our favorite teams' hat, so everyone would know we were NOT Cubs fans: Addison in a Cardinals hat, Hannah in a Dodgers hat & Rachel in a Red Sox hat. It’s safe to say we were cheering very loudly for the Brewers!

The first at bat of the game was a Brewer’s home run from Lorenzo Cain! We went wild! 3 batters later, Ryan Braun hit a 2-run homer to make it 3-0! We went wild again, and all of the Cubs fans already hated us! In the top of the 3rd, Braun hit another 2-run homer to make it a 5-0 Brewers lead! In the 6th inning, Cubs manager, Joe Maddon, and second baseman, Ben Zobrist, got ejected for arguing balls and strikes! The Brewers ended up shutting out the Cubs 7-0!

When the Cubs win, the fly a “W” flag to tell all of Chicago that they won. When they lose, they fly an “L” flag. Since they lost today, the flew the L and so did we! We just had to make our own “flag” to fly if they lost! Ours was hastily made from a pillowcase and a sharpie the night before, but it worked! Even some Brewers fans thought it was funny and had to take a picture with us! 

After the game, we hit the road again to Wisconsin! We’ll talk to y’all later!

Day 2: Sears Tower and Millennium Park 

After seeing the Shameless houses, we headed back to downtown Chicago. We waited several hours in line at Sears Tower to go up to the Willis Deck and see an overlook of the city! Even though the lines were long, we don’t regret the decision at all! Time quickly passed in line as we mentally prepared for the height! Once we made it to the front of the line, Addison and Rachel still had to be talked out onto the ledge and encouraged that the glass would not crack when they stepped on it. In the end, everyone was okay and it was worth facing our fear of heights. Afterward, we went to Millennium Park where we saw the iconic Bean, also known as Cloud Gate! We spent a few minutes just chilling and enjoying the beautiful weather! The temperature was perfect outside, not too hot, too humid or too cool! For supper we ate at Pequod’s for authentic Chicago style pizza! The restaurant had been featured on Man Vs. Food on the Food Network! Even though we waited close to 3 hours in all, it was a great Chicago experience!

Ps: I just wrote all these while at the Cubs vs Brewers game! I will try to have that blog up before bed tonight! Also, the score is 5-0 in the 4th! The Cubs are flying that L so far!

Day 2: Shameless Houses

Last summer, after attending the Warner Brothers Studio tour in LA and seeing where Showtime’s Shameless filmed some of their scenes, we (shamelessly) watched it for ourselves and became addicted to the watching the show! When we found out they film outside scenes on location in Chicago, we HAD to take ourselves on our own little tour! We googled the addresses and made our way to see the iconic houses! Not to worry though, this is a normal thing fans of the show do. Despite someone residing in the home, the owner doesn’t mind you opening the gate to take a pic on the porch, only if you leave a 5 dollar tip! (Don’t worry we tipped). Standing next to the Gallagher house as we heard the L train go by a block over was a legit experience every Shameless fan needs to experience.

Day 1: White Sox and Navy Pier Our first day in Chicago was enjoyed at Guaranteed Rate Field where we watched the Chicago White Sox take on the Cleveland Indians! We were afraid we’d be hot and get sunburned sitting at the top of the stadium. Luckily, 20 minutes into the game, we were already in the shade! Even though we ate peanut butter sandwiches before the game, we treated ourselves to Italian ice and dippin’ dots! The score was 9-3 with the Indians on top in the 7th inning, but in the 8th, the Sox started to make a comeback! The Sox hit 2 homers and scored 4 more runs! They came up just short in the 9th and lost 9-7. Even though the White Sox lost, it was so exciting to enjoy the atmosphere and cheer along with the fans! After the game, we went to the Navy Pier where we ate at Margaritaville, and enjoyed the views of the Chicago skyline at sunset! Day one was relaxing but solid nonetheless.

Its that time of year agin! Time for ROAST TRIP 3!

We’re well aware that we didn’t quite finish updating you from out adventure in California, but here is a clip of us on the Price is Right that aired in November. I think it makes up for the lack of blogging AND perfectly describes how excited we are for RT 3!

Stay tuned for August 11th when we set out on a week road trip to Chicago, Milwaukee, Duluth, and Minneapolis.  We’re so excited to cross off more states, stadiums, and great lakes off our bucket lists! We’re anxiously anticipating to show you guys what all we have planned ahead! 

In the meantime I will try to update you guys on some exciting things that happened after Roast Trip 2!

Day 6: Dodgers and Ed Tonight the Roast Trippers split up and kinda went our own way. Rachel went to an Ed Sheeran concert at the Staples Center and Addison and I went back to the Dodgers and Padres game in hope to see a win!

We had top deck seats so the view was def different than the night before but was not disappointing! The mountains along with the sunset and palm trees were absolutely beautiful! We even think we might have seen John Krasinki (Jim from the Office)! We got behind him and two of his friends while we were in line for churros and a coke! Addison first mentioned it kind of jokingly but then we heard him laugh and things got serious. He had the same facial structure as him and was about 6'3 which is the SAME HIEGHT AS JOHN TOO! When he got to the counter to order he bought a lot of food for him and his friends and paid for it all! For some strange reason, we still don’t know why, but we didn’t approach him and never found out for sure. Don’t worry we’re still kicking ourselves too.

The Dodgers played a great game though and won 6-3! I got to see my favorite player Corey Seager get a double and score 3 runs, Bellinger his hit 34th home run, Chris Taylor hit a home run, and Chase Utley get kicked out of the game! Overall, it was a win for the Dodgers and a win for us (minus not finding out if that really was John Krrasinki)!

Rachel had a great night seeing one of her absolute favorite artists perform! When she got there and got to her seat, she realized she had VIP box seats! For the encore, Ed came out in a Dodger’s Justin Turner jersey. She and the guy next to her sang and danced together during Shape of You, which also happens to be Justin’s Turner’s walk out song! While this was her third time seeing Ed, she said it never gets old watching him put on on the show all by himself with only a loop pedal.

While we hated that we couldn’t all be together tonight and experience it all together, we all had a great time!

Day 6: Beverly Hills: That's Where I Want To Be We purposefully weren't in any hurry this morning getting going! We took our time and eventually made it to Beverley Hills! Once we were there we walked around the boujee streets and shops we tried to find a street with the perfect line of palm trees. I'm quite aware this isn't as exciting as past posts but tbh we just wanted a chill Saturday and cute pics so that's what we had.

Day 5: Go Dodgers! Tonight we got field seats to see the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres! While we didn't win the game, the experience was still so much fun! The fans hit beach balls back and forth as the game was going on and it was funny to watch people get hit with it unexpectedly or reach super far to try to hit it! We were also on the big screen! It was a crowded night and the crowd was excited! At one point the wave was going around the stadium and when it got to our section the left fielder, Kike Hernandez, did the wave with us! After the game was over the fans got to go onto the field to watch the fireworks! Since I'm personally a huge Dodgers fan, I'm so glad to have had this experience! Maybe next time they'll actually win! Even though Addison isn't a Dodgers fan, she was still excited to mark off another baseball stadium from her bucket list! 8 down, 22 to go! Day 5: Hiking Hollywood The Roast Trippers got up early this morning and took a hike to the to the Hollywood sign! We thought it might be long and hard and we we were right! We hiked to the back of the sign first and that was the worst part. From there it was smooth sailing on the path to front of the sign. We decided to take a different path back to the car and ended up winding though neighborhoods. It was going to take an hour just to circle about around to the car, so we called an uber! We eventually made it back and went back to Josie's to wash up and rest before the Dodgers game! Shearon, Hope, and Love

Day 4: Malibuuuuu After spending all day at Disney and getting home late Wednesday, we were super tired and planned on sleeping in some the next day. We left our airbnb around 10:30 and headed to Malibu. We didn't have huge plans for Malibu but we knew we wanted to see Pepperdine University (where Zoey 101 was filmed) and walk on a beach. Traffic was horrendous and it took longer than expected so we spent most of the ride there and back listening to tunes and looking for celebrities in the cars beside us. Being stuck in traffic isn't so bad when you're on the Pacific Coast Highway! Pepperdine was beautiful and we definitely noticed some places that were used as filming locations! The campus was located on the side of a mountain so we walked several stairs as we explored! The students of Pepperdine walk to class with crazy views of the ocean! We're slightly jealous. The last thing we did in Malibu was explore El Matador beach! The water was cold but we enjoyed walking up and down the rock clustered beach! Like I said before, the ride back was kinda slow due to 5:00 traffic but we didn't mind too much. We spent the evening walking around the Grove and eating at a pasta place called Andre's. Today was kind of a chiller day but I think we all agree that we needed it! Thanks for reading! Shearon, Hope, and Love

Day 3: Angels in the Parking lot. I don't know how many of you remember from the first RoastTrip but it's one of Addison's bucket list items to see all of the Major League Baseball stadiums. So while we were in Anaheim we couldn't not let her mark off Angel Stadium! However, by the the time we left Disney it was late. We had to pass several Do Not Enter signs to get a good shot but we didn't let that stop us. We just prayed security didn't stop us, and if they did they would understand. Luckily we got in and out with no problem at all. 7 stadiums down. 23 to go! Shearon, Hope, and Love

Day 3: A Magical Day at Disney What an amazing day today was! We arrived at Disney around 10:00 and went non-stop from the moment we walked though the turnstile! This was Addison's first trip to Disney so Rachel and I wanted to make sure she had the full experience! The first thing she did was buy an autograph/photo book and got a picture with Goofy, her favorite! The first attraction we went to was a Jungle Cruise which took us though some of the worlds most famous rivers. Our guide, Skipper Al, asked us what an elephant and a car had in common. Without really thinking I yelled "a trunk!" Skipper Al heard me and referred to me as Skipper Hannah too many times to count for the remainder of the cruise. Lol. We took advantage of the FastPasses and immediately booked one for Space Mountain! It has been 11-12 years since Rach and I have ridden it so it was basically like we were ridding it for the first time too! By the time we got off we all had tears streaming out of the corners of our eyes and we were laughing so hard! We all agreed that the biggest let down of the day was The Haunted Mansion ride, and I take full blame for this. When I last went to Disney I was too afraid to open my eyes during that ride, so I told Addison and Rach that I had to face my fear! So basically I talked up this ride to being way scarier than it was. It wasn't scary at all. Literally. We didn't scream once. I guess my imagination is more scary than The Haunted Mansion itself. Rachel and I also made Addison ride Its a Small World. We definitely were not letting her get away without having that song stuck in her head for the remainder of the trip! The last thing of the day was the fireworks behind the castle! Let me tell you. I speak for all of us when we say there was nothing more magical than that! We all stared in awe as Tinker Bell soared over Sleeping Beauty's castle (That's right. It's Sleeping Beauty's in Disneyland). We had such a great day learning to be kids again, hugging our favorite characters, screaming our hearts out, and experiencing the true magic of Disneyland! Stay tuned for more fun tomorrow! Day 2: Walking with the Stars We got a late start yesterday morning because we chose to sleep in, but ended up spending the late mornings walking the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I will admit it's not quite what we expected, but it was cool to walk around and point out names we knew! We even spotted Adam Levine's! At 2:30, we started standing in line for Jimmy Kimmel! That took roughly 2 hours and then we were taken into the studio and seated on the very back row. If you happened to tune in last night I highly doubt you could see us. Our luck turned on us, however, we were just happy to be there! To be honest we mainly wanted to go because Milo Ventimiglia was a guest on the show! You might know him as Rocky's son Robert Balboa, Jess from Gilmore Girls, or Jack from This Is Us! The other guest was Jenny Slate who is Mona Lisa in Parks and Rec, the voice of Gidget in the Secret Life of Pets, as well as Bellwether in Zootopia! She was super funny and kept us laughing the whole time! Filming went way faster than The Voice! For the last part of filming the we went back to the lobby area where there was a stage set up! This area was really small so only about 50 of the 200 audience members got to go in this area. The rest of us were behind them watching and clapping along. The performer was Lindsey Stirling, an amazing violinist! She played two songs and then we left! Taping for Jimmy Kimmel was way simpler than yesterday, as I said before. There wasn't a need for more than one take of something! Kimmel was so funny and such a natural! Even in between set up when he wasn't on camera and was talking to the audience he was hilarious! Even if we were in the back row, it was a great experience! After the show we went to Mel's Diner on Hollywood Blvd. It was a cute 50s styled diner with where they served us milkshakes and hamburgers! Today we are headed to Disneyland where we will be all day until after the fireworks! We are pumped and can't wait to make the most out of our time at the happiest place in the world! Los Angeles Day 1: We're Basically Famous So yesterday was flipping crazy! I'm pretty sure we haven't stoped smiling! Due to an agreement we signed before going on the show, we can't really say anything about the contestants or the results of the show! Basically though we got to sit through a taping of the battle rounds on The Voice as audience members! Like I said in the last post, we had no idea what to expect. However this experience exceeded our expectations! It was so much fun! The studio was located in Universal Studios! When we got there we had to wait in an outdoor area for a couple hours. While that may sound miserable it wasn't bad! They had food trucks, a merch table, and a sitting area under a big white tent. While we waited the staff took volunteers from the audience to sing karaoke. Since we weren't allowed to bring our phones this served as great entertainment! When it was time, they loaded us onto busses and shuttled us down to the studio! Once inside the studio our minds were officially blown! We were on the actual set of The Voice! But wait! It gets better! If you're like me and didn't know much about the layout of The Voice, I'll explain. Battle rounds is the first round after blind auditions. It's where two contestants on the same team sing a song together and then their coach chooses only one to advance. So the layout of the stage was like a wrestling ring with the audience around the ring in the stands! We weren't allowed to sit wherever we wished. It was completely random and had to do with which wristband color you were given and where the staff sat you! You'll never guess where we were sat.... RIGHT BEHIND ADAM LEVINE AND MILEY CYRUS (our two favorite coaches!) You could easily say we were flipping out (calmly though cause we didn't want to be moved). It was such an amazing experience! It was so cool to watch the judges interact with each other and joke in between filming, as well as get an inside look at what this season of The Voice is gonna look like! The season premieres on September 25! So be sure to keep an eye out for us sitting behind the judges during the battle rounds! There's no doubt you'll be able to see us! Today, we are heading to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and then a taping of Jimmy Kimmel this afternoon! We'll try to update again before the day is over! Shearon, Hope, and Love
