“It’s been almost too quiet around here since the holidays. It feels like the calm before the next inevitable storm.”
“ ... - I’m not complaining. Worried? Yes, but not complaining. I’ll take it while we have it.”
In the days since he’d gotten back together with Cora, Stuart had been in a phenomenally better mood, a rare smile on his face as he sat and ate some lunch, looking up only as he heard someone approaching.
“That expression is just as obnoxious -- and worrisome -- from you as it is from Stiles.”
shedmyscales:
“Don’t worry your pretty little face about it – my eyes are always peeled,” he told her, a smirk on his lips as he tipped his head to look out the window for a moment. “Go get some rest, Allison –” he then said, voice softer and more genuine. “I’ve got it from here.”
Allison would have cringed at his words, but she let it slide. She knew that she could trust Jackson, and so when he told her that he could take care of it, she believed him. Nodding, Allison held the gun out to him - one of the only ones they had with a scope - to trade off. “Safety’s on, by the way.”
He gingerly took the rifle from her, looking it over for a moment before nodding ; once again finding himself thankful that -- back at the outdoor camp -- Allison had taught him to shoot when his wolf abandoned him. “Thank you.”
shedmyscales:
“That’s a good thing, right?” Jackson asked, leaning against the wall beside the window Allison had been perched by.
“That depends on who they are and if they come back.” Allison let her gun down easily, sighing. She was exhausted, but the appearance of the group had kept her alert enough throughout the night. “Just keep an eye out, you never know.”

“I saw a little group walk by here last night,” Allison said to the person coming to relieve her of her shift, “I think they assumed the building was unsafe and not worth trying to fight walkers for. They definitely didn’t look like hunters.”
“That’s a good thing, right?” Jackson asked, leaning against the wall beside the window Allison had been perched by.
“ – so, no one finding anything weird with the past few days?”
“You mean like reliving an old memory or that mirror hanging in the common area?”
“ -- the freaky ass old mirror, yeah.”
“ – so, no one finding anything weird with the past few days?”
“No, I am too, but…it’s a good weird.”
“As long as it isn’t to kill us. Or distract us. Or separate us. Or all of the above. Or worse.”
shedmyscales:
“Not exactly what I was aiming for, no.”
“All the weird shit? Yeah”.
“Yes, that. It makes no sense.”
dhsourrwolf:
“The lack of danger? Yeah”.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t a nogitsune need a host to be mobile? Without having Stiles, how it did get from Beacon Hills to here?”
“I’m starting to think it wasn’t what it seemed, though I’m not sure how”.
"I have my suspicions that someone brought the nogitsune to us."
“So – it’s good that it’s gone and all, but … how did it find us in the FIRST PLACE?”
“The same way everything finds us it seems”.

seeingredscott:
“Getting it away from Mackenzie, for one, if they’re together.”
“And after that? What -- wing it?”
“And what are you all planning on doing when you do find this thing? Because tying him up worked so well the first time.”
dannymahealani14:
“I’ll give you that one.”
“Of course, I’m always right.”
shedmyscales:
“No, I’m being resourceful.”
“Okay, then you’re a resourceful idiot.”
“ -- but I’m your idiot.”
