Love Is Like The Flowers

There is beauty even in the wilted and withered. A reminiscent of that once was.

Last year summer didn't feel like the harsh summer it usually is. Thanks to the beautiful Bangalore weather. I enjoyed watching flowers grow in the garden, birds chirping in the mornings and the sun filled with warmth but the wind was always cooler. A lot of inspiration to start painting simply happened as I was turning the patio space into a garden on weekends. Dried petals, leaves fallen on the ground always seemed pretty to me. I had a stash of watercolors, crayons with me and it urged me to start painting.

A few of these artworks created are from the summer last year as I dabbled with painting flowers, petals and just enjoying the process of creating.

One from the Mirissa series This painting is titled the Village Walk. Inspired by the days spent in Mirissa a gorgeous fishing town in the south coast of Srilanka. It's a paradise with a stunning crescent beach and very lovely people. I spent a couple of days here watching sunsets, swimming in the ocean, writing, walking around and meeting other travellers. After returning from the holidays I remember not being able to sleep that morning. All I wanted was to paint and put all the colors inspired from the stay in Mirissa onto the canvas. Glimpse Of The Art Space

Last year after moving to Bangalore from Mumbai my hunt for apartments started from day 2. I was lucky that I found a place in that week itself and it instantly resonated with me. I could see myself living there and setting up a house for myself. But more than the apartment for me the exciting part was an empty patio space. It was a luxury especially after living in Mumbai for years where an empty space around the apartment or even your own garden was impossible to think of. I had so many ideas about how I'd like to turn this spot into a garden, with climbers hanging from the top and a coffee table where I could enjoy the lovely Bangalore weather.

Viola! It all started coming together and in about 2 months along with the apartment this space also turned into the way I had visualized it the first time I saw it. I turned the empty patio area of my apartment into a green calming space with lots of plants and delicate creepers hanging from the top.

I was curious about macrame ( knotting technique to create decorative items), so I created my own version of it and painted a few pots to get the hanging planters ready. The plants hanging from the top, textured white walls,  geometric tiled flooring, the shades of green, yellow and the colorful flowers in the garden all blend beautifully here.

It truly is my creative hub. A space which reminds me that creativity is in the present. I spend a lot of time here ideating, looking after the plants, enjoying the delicate light in the mornings, sipping cups of coffee and creating. And off course painting.
