-john has this whole, very well-constructed, image in his head wherein he is this big and tough protector of the innocent and of the downtrodden

-you’re not entirely certain how he manages to justify this to himself as if he isn’t entwines in the very highest levels of a criminal enterprise, but you let him tell himself whatever he wants to hear because it’s too much work to argue

-credit is due, though; despite living in a city which could not exactly be considered clean and safe, with john, you have never felt once that you’re in danger

-he’s made a habit of carrying a gun with him all the time, but when you’re with him, he’s a bit more on edge, one arm around you and the other hovering over the handle of the pistol in his pocket

-he bought you a pistol as a gift on the first anniversary of when you’d starting dating, and the frightened and uncertain look in your eyes when you tried shooting it for the first time only made him want to protect you more

-sometimes he just wanted to keep you to himself, keep you cooped up in the biggest house he could find, but he’d be damned if the second best option wasn’t making sure you can protect yourself

-speaking of being cooped up, though, john instinctively curls his whole body around you while you sleep, as if his body heat alone could save you from ever having a nightmare

-he also sleeps on the side of the bed that’s closest to the door, so that if someone were to manage to break into the house and get to your bedroom, they’d see john first, and hopefully you’d have time to escape

-you wear a thin chain around your neck, threaded through which is a ring that john used to wear when you first met him

-you tried to wear it, too, when he first gave it to you, but it kept falling off, so you wear it around your neck

-john worries about you, a lot, and if he’s away for a long while or if you’ve just returned from a potentially unsafe situation, the first thing he does is frantically grab at your collar to make sure the necklace is still there

-neither you nor he is sure why he has to do this, but you let him take his little comforts

-you’ll never quite get how he separates his violent side so completely from the parts of him that interact with you, but you’ll be damned if you don’t love him for it

ok so i feel like it would be super sudden

you and john would have known each other for like basically your whole lives

and hes always been like a brother in some ways but also not

if anyone ever hurt you or made you cry hed kick their asses (even if you already did he’d go for ‘em again like hes fuckin ruthless when it comes to you)

things change a little when he meets martha tho

and the kids are born

hes still present but a little distant and its understandable

but when shes gone john’s a mess and youre like the only person who can get to him

you and polly spend a lot of time looking after the kids

to the point where you’re almost like their mother

the littlest one has even slipped up and called you ‘mum’ a few times

one night youre like chillin and drinking tea in the living room

the kids are in bed and john’s thanking you for helping him

and you’re telling him about everything they did and said that day when suddenly it just like hits him

hes in love with you

and a million memories come flooding back of all the times hes looked out for you and you’ve looked out for him

and all the times hes made you laugh and the times you’ve made him smile

john thinks of how he got so used to having you around he never thought of you dating bc somewhere in the back of his mind you’ve always been his and its been normal for you two to be together but now its kind of different

john goes all quiet and weird and shy

and you’re like “whats the matter with you? youre as red as a tomato”

and hes not saying much at all

blames it on the whiskey he had before he came home

john just insists he walk you home bc its late and finn can watch the kids for five minutes

its hella weird but you just go along w it

from then on he acts weird

he doesn’t burp in front of you

or talk about other women look (even though you talk about girls with him all the time)

he doesn’ t slouch or loudly slurp his beer

he always gets the drinks at the garrison so you can stay seated and enjoy yourself

and he opens doors for you a lot more

everything he does is to impress you

arthur and tommy start teasing him but it kinda just goes over your head

you dont notice how john stares at you when youre not looking

or how he lingers in the door when he comes home bc he likes to watch you with the kids and imagine hes coming home to you as his wife

you dont see how he primps more than usual when he knows hes going to see you

and it sucks for john bc he doesn’t know what to do

if you love him back thats great

but if you dont he could loose you

and thats the last thing he wants to do

so he just lays awake at night

thinking about how badly he wants you in bed beside him

dreaming about what your lips would feel like next to his

and hoping and praying youre not thinking about some other person bc if you are it’ll kill him

Hc idea for how Michael is like on his daughters wedding day

DAMNNN GURLLL… HERE WE GO

Michael’s daughter is and always will be a Daddy’s girl, so it’s espeically hard to see her getting married.

When her boyfriend invites Michael, and only Michael, to the bar, he knows what is coming and he is one edge.

He does everything to try and intimidate this boy away from your daughter, but he’s relentless, charasmatic, and loves his daughter so Michael finally, much to his dismay, gives his blessing.

He cries when he’s there to witness the proposal.

He also cries every night leading up to the wedding and you do all you can to comfort him.

He turns into a bit of a Dadzilla. If anything goes wrong or upsets his baby girl on her big day, he will literally slit throats to get her what she wants. Not the right boquet? He fires the floralist the day of, takes his money back, makes sure to diminish the store’s repuation, and calls and demands someone get her a new boquet in less than an hour.

He just wants everything to be perfect for her.

Has major butterflies in his stomach when he walks her down the aisle.

Kisses her on the cheek when they reach the alter and has trouble letting her go.

He has to hold your hand when he joins you in the first row of the church and tries hard not to cry during the ceremony.

Gives a heartwarming speech where he tells everyone about how much of a Daddy’s girl she is. “I remember when she was four she wanted to marry me. So we got her a big white dress and put flowers in her hair and we danced in the backyard. You know, you promised me you’d never get married to anyone else. Now you’ve broken that vow.” The whole crowd laughs and she is in tears. “But, I’m glad you found someone who will treat you right and loves you very much. Oh, and Edward, if you hurt her, I’ll kill you. Congratulations.”
