; ooc { OK, that’s it for me for the night! When things are less hectic with work I’ll sit down and work my way through all the drafts and everything. G’night~ }

“Ah, nothing.” Eyes fell on him with a crystal clear curiosity. “You were rather lost in thought Sorey. Were you daydreaming?”
Casually hiding her face behind her paper, she conceals a playful smile.
“Oh-- well, actually,” he began, perking up significantly as he turned to gaze back to where he’d been looking prior to her earlier comment “there’s that huuuuge building way off in the distance, and it looks like something worth exploring later on!”
But it still kind of bugged him that she wouldn’t let on what she’d been talking about earlier. “Did you need something from me, though? I mean, you did say my name, so...” he glanced back at her, rising an eyebrow at her rather odd expression. Sure, she was hiding things from them all the time and for good reasons, but this didn’t seem like something of that caliber.
{ lingeringember }
“Sorey will…” The movement of paper can be heard, but the outcome is kept a secret until the very end.
“…Fall in love. With whom, I wonder…? That’s a Prime Lord’s greatest secret.”
“Huh?” The human in question had his mind occupied with something else entirely, but hearing his name made him turn and look at the Fire Seraph.
“What was that?” he asked, tilting his head. Did she say something about love?

“Only once? Not really allowing me, but- He asked for advices, he was having difficulties with it because of the heat, I couldn’t help but try to brush it too, you know, to understand the problem…?” She laughed awkwardly, wasn’t it a touchy subject for the poor boy? After all, Mikleo was the one doing Sorey’s hair, but the other way was, apparently, absolutely, forbidden.
And the Shepherd is still pouting, he even kicked a stray pebble like a child that was told off or not allowed to have his way. Which, in all honesty, wasn’t that far from the truth.
“How is that fair?” he whined “How am I supposed to learn when he won’t even let me try?” And no, just because it went really, really bad once didn’t have to mean that there was no hope for him in this!
@lordandshepherd
"Wait... how do you know his hair is hard to brush? Did he actually let you do it?" The Shepherd asked, his eyes wide in surprise and utter shock. So Mikleo still won't let him do his hair but Lailah is allowed to? He pouted, hands shoved into his pockets as he looked to the side.

“Well, it looks we’re stuck.” Edna’s voice was matter-of-fact, as she looked around the ruin. They had managed to find a new room in the ruin, but it happened to have a trap door.
“I suppose we should look for a way out.” She had a feeling that breaking the door down wouldn’t be a welcome suggestion from the shepherd.
While they were in a bit of a bind, yes, Sorey couldn’t help but to pay a bit more mind to his surroundings than to the matter at hand. He could hardly contain his excitement as he wandered around the room, maybe just a biiiit to slowly to really seem like he was frantically searching for an exit. Biting down on his lower lip to conceal a grin wanting to spread on his face, he gave Edna a passing glance.
“Huh? Oh-- yeaaaah, I guess we should, huh.” he replied, gaze shifting back to the walls close to him, tips of his fingers slowly sliding across the carvings. Really, it wasn’t as though they were in a hurry and none of them was harmed ( so it seemed, at least ), so he figured it wouldn’t hurt to spend a bit more time in self-indulgence.

❝ –H-hey–! ❞ Come on, the Shepherd had to give him some prior warning. Such a stunt is going to make him a smidgen uncomfortable. For compliance sake; his heart started to beat rapidly in his upper torso. His ribcage might’ve been internally crushed from the pressure within. Not so much the other’s equally tightened embrace; though he is a little breathless with the constriction. His lilac hues blink in rapid sequence as his hands moved to slide against his human’s broadened shoulders. Seraphim ‘ are ’ as they ‘ think ’ – but he never got any stronger, nor taller despite his constant internal incantations. ❝ Don’t treat me like a child. ❞
He’s not as fragile as he looks; nor as easily corrupted as Lailah might’ve assumed. His breath eased as he allowed his thumbs to trace alongside the familiar bone structure. The Shepherd continued to grow, to excel the citizen’s surreal expectations and– in some cases, the human started to frighten them too–. But there’s no one as delicate nor as virtuous as his human. The Seraphim and the Shepherd meant no ulterior harm to those that is in their will to protect. But no one wishes to be taken advantage of, either– so there’s a particular balance he must validate for himself and his soft-hearted companion. ❝ –I know. ❞ He mumbled. Cheeks still stained a light hue as he dipped his head downwards once more. Diverting his gaze numerous times as the brunet attempted to catch him. Even with the cold leather-like palm that held the Shepherd’s emblem on his neck– those digits close to his trembling collarbone. His diaphragm swelled as the Seraph turned his hand to clasp at the elder’s wrist. There’s a silent moment whereas his innocence comes to graze a spot that could make his companion turn to submissive mush.
❝ You better stay with me, then–! ❞ The treasured ornament that he doesn’t let others touch; more like an heirloom. He might’ve found a treasure much more valuable to him than even such a familial memoir. ❝ Or I won’t forgive it. ❞
A soft chuckle escaped his parted lips at Mikleo’s reaction. Really, it wasn’t often that the Seraph so openly expressed himself, even when there were only the two of them around. It was easy to forget, though, that the other Seraphim could decide to return to their Shepherd without him even noticing, but neither of the the two males seemed to mind at that moment. Well, Sorey certainly didn’t.
His hand still on the other’s neck, he briefly touched their foreheads together, the Water Seraph’s bangs concealing his eyes near completely; not that he was looking at him at all, his gaze rather averting the Shepherd’s. “I’m not.” he assured, his other hand seeking Mikleo’s in an attempt to lace their fingers together. He’d always been self-conscious about it, hadn’t he? The fact that he was not as tall, not as muscular, not as ‘ strong ‘... But Sorey knew that his smaller stature concealed more power and resolve than some of the biggest and tallest men he’d encountered during his journey.
Feeling his breath on his face was enough to send the faintest shiver down his spine, even though it wasn’t chilly in any way. His own cheeks were flushed beyond reason, and he finally looked down, as if some kind of embarassment caught up with him. His head dipping a bit, he held him close again, and as he did he was trying to memorize how his form felt in his arms, how he seemed to fit into him near perfectly. As if they were made out to be so. ...Well. That wasn’t that far from the truth, after all.
“Well, then, I could never risk anything like that.” he chuckled again, leaning back in the chair and pulling the other along to rest against him. “...I’m not going anywhere.”
; ooc { OK, my whole being is telling me it’s time to sleep, so I shall comply. }
Lies and Secrets sentence starters
“You’ve been hiding something from me… haven’t you?”
“Stop lying to me and tell me the truth!”
“Why are you pretending? What are you hiding?!”
“Don’t lie to me. I can tell when you’re lying.”
“Funny, I thought you said you could tell me everything.”
“How could you keep this from me?”
“Let’s not play twenty questions— spill it.”
“What secrets do you hold?
“We’re alone now… you can tell me.”
“I overheard something earlier… I’m not sure if I should tell you…”
“Please, I can’t tell you! I promised that I wouldn’t!”
“Everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie!”

❝ That’s because you are my human, ❞ meaning he also takes personal responsibilities for the Shepherd’s weaknesses. In a manner he’s more involved than even the Prime Lord; he’s hastened to protect those that he deems important and the Seraph must be as immobile as a stone pillar. Sometimes, it is his human that has to be the ‘ voice ’ to ease his cautious nature. ❝ –Quite a gullible human. But a suitable one, ❞ he sometimes cannot shake Edna’s critique about such an egotistic species. But his human companion isn’t like the licentious crowds; those like Alisha and Rose are also beacon examples that humankind is not limited to a bad omen. Seraphim must inevitably learn to trust those that earn their love; those that are willing to strive for their blessings to the fertile lands and variant magicks. His optics blink once more as the digits twine in his embroidered cotton cloth. He can almost sense the tightness in the seams as those clad hands weave across him and blanch with the tension in the swordsman’s insistent vice.
❝ –I’m here. ❞
The Shepherd tries to keep his mask in pristine condition without a smudge or crack; but such selfless behavior has started to concern him. He has nightmares that these arrogant people will continue to drain his best friend ( bleed him completely dry– unforgivable ) until there is naught left of the original man that once stood at his side. Spiritually, mentally, and physically– the Seraph has been so distraught ( and near inconsolable ) at the Lord of Calamity’s introduction. To not be seen, nor heard– that is a fate so much worse than an cataclysmic death. The aqueous elemental pivots in the brunet’s lap to ensnare him in an embrace. These unfair burdens shall be his to hold, as well. But the comment does catch such a poised Seraph a little off-guard. His head pulls backwards as the alabaster tresses bounce a little with his sudden movements. Pale skin contrasts the more muscular male; lids blinking in sequence as their breaths continue to synchronize. ❝ –Who’s Mikleo would I choose to be otherwise–? ❞ Pastel pink starts to dust across his svelte cheekbones. Such an idiot; makes his closest companion admit such a sincere notion.
Sorey’s lips curled into a faint smile at the critique Mikleo has quite elegantly woven into his sentence, a change the Seraph could surely feel against his skin. There was nothing but truth to his words, and he’d known it for a good while now. Little was left of the utter naivete of the Shepherd, though, after having traversed the world back and forth, combing every inch of it in search for his answers and for a way to save their tainted world.
Somehow, the other male seemed to read the intents behind his movements better than the Shepherd himself; what he chose to say was exactly what he needed to hear, and the human berated himself internally for even being surprised at it. They’ve lived together their whole lives... Wouldn’t he be able to act the same towards the other, come the need? He firmly believed he could, but what mattered more was whether Mikleo did.
‘ I’m here ‘
The words resonated in the air around them for seemingly hours, and with each passing moment the Shepherd was sinking into the Seraph more and more, as if testing just how certain he could be that the other was, in fact, there. The memories that he also shared, those from the Glaivend Basin, would always be much too fresh and vivid in his mind; the utter panic and helplessness were something he couldn’t find the words to explain or describe, and he near immediately felt his stomach churn at the prospect of having to.
And, just then, as if he timed it, Mikleo shifted in his lap and wrapped his arms around him, holding him tightly, much like Sorey did with him just moments ago. He could now feel his heart beating against his chest, his fingers on his back as he slowly reciprocated the embrace, almost afraid that he was going to fracture the other’s ribs if he continued to allow his grip to remain so firm.
“--I’m here, too.” was all he managed, before the Seraph pulled away just a touch, barely any space between them as it was, his cheeks bearing the faintest trace of warmth as he spoke. And he could feel his face warming up all the same, a smile finally softening his features just moments before he moves in closer again, one hand moving to brush away the snowy hair from the other’s forehead to make room for him to press a chaste kiss against the ornate gem, usually hidden from others’ eyes.
“Y’know... I’m just glad I don’t have to wonder about that.” he whispered into his hair, gloved hand now at the nape of the Seraph’s neck.
“Because we’re both here.”
