Hello! I am Mako 🦈🫧

I work in the SDN phoenix program, and I'm trying hard to adjust how I'm viewed in the public eye, so here I am! 🦈🫧

backstory:

"born" on a small island off of the pacific coast, Mako was the only son of researcher Ivor Lynn, who was on the island in an attempt to bring back an extinct species of shark. in the process, by some kind of cartoony hijinks, Prof. Lynn's DNA was mixed with the sample, so when the fetus was created and placed in a chamber made to resemble that of a shark's egg case, out came Mako!

He has a very "childish" personality, getting upset easily and being somewhat clueless about a lot of things. He also likely has a lower IQ than the average human person due to never properly being educated, and not really being tought how to be a "person"

He makes up for his lack of smarts in his close combat skills (listed in the above drawing)

In contradiction to the above drawing, his name is not actually Gale. It is infact Mako. He is a liar.

Mako has had a long week. And by that, he meant he sat in Royd's workshop all week while everyone else in the Phoenix Program went on missions and were actual heroes. He was hardly a hero, and nobody treated him like he was one. Maybe it was because the only notable thing he did was swim around like an oaf. All of his friends, if he could even call them that, had their own lives. Truthfully, they were just his coworkers.

He had changed into his civilian clothes, leaving for the day. He walked past the board, his name in bold letters at the very bottom, once again. Next to it, in that horrible mechanical font, was a big glaring zero. The one that taunted him his entire time working there. It was a miracle he hadn't been fired yet, considering he constantly was at the bottom of the leaderboard. He stared at it, before sitting down directly in front of it, resting his head on his knees. 

His head perked up when he heard footsteps rounding the corner.

Today wasn't tiring at all. Actually, Jayden’s in a good mood. All successful missions, staying on top of the ranking board all day, and now he's on break.

If he's ever in the breakroom, it's to fix the coffee or vending machine. Instead, he spends his breaks in the techlab. He's sitting on the floor, lunchbox next to him, but he's not focused on the food. Headphones on his head, a bunch of tiny pieces he's found laying around. He just hopes Royd wasn't using them- he’s gathered some, now working on a little trinket. Dumb, a little bunny made of mostly screws and some metal plates. He will probably throw it away later- or take it home and throw it in a box full of similar ones. Making these relaxes him, even if it's a little stupid.

Even with headphones on, Jayden could hear someone walking in. Reaching for his phone, he pauses the music and sets the bunny he was working on on the floor next to him.

"Yeah?" He makes sure his voice is loud, peeking from behind the half wall he was sitting by to look at the entrance. "Royd's not here."

"Oh.. I see. Honestly I was just wanting to sit in here. I don't have any new assignments since I'm not really all that practical unless it involves water." he whispers, just loud enough to be overheard by Jayden.

He finds himself a seat on a chair that Royd had altered specifically for him. Chairs were always difficult on account of the nearly 85 pound and a meter long tail that trailed behind him at all times

"Watcha makin there?"

Jayden looks down at the little bunny, pickingi t up and showing it to Mako. "Just some... I don't know, i was going to throw it away or scrap to get the parts back later."

He sets the little bunny on top of the halfwall he's still sitting by. After so much time, he's already gotten used to Mako. If he starts getting annoying, you just ignore. At least try to, instead of snapping and yelling.

Mako scoot his chair closer. He'd learned from.. past experiences with Royd that touching someone's mechanical work was bad. Usually dangerous. So he folded his arms and just.. observed. He looked at it like it were something precious. He said nothing, just staring at the little rabbit in all of its scrappy glory. He laid his head down on his arms so he could be at eye level with the bunny.

"Its cute. I like it." He stated. He did like it. A lot.

For first, Jayden didn't bother, but when a minute, two then three passed, he noticed the way Mako was staring. He doesn't really know why, it's just a thing made out of scraps... Nothing worth much attention.

"You can take it." There's really no reason why he wouldn't let Mako. It's not like the materials used for it were very important, there's a lot more. If Mako likes it, why not let him have it?

Mako's smile widens, but then he pauses and thinks for a moment.

"Better not. I don't want to break it. I knock things over a lot." He admitted. His apartment, truthfully, was a mess. Jayden had been there once or twice to help with small things, but had never really seen the extent of it. He couldnt have anything glass, and anything even slightly breakable had to be high up since he never fully had control of how his tail slinks behind him. He laughed quietly to himself, remembering how the last time Jayden had come over Mako had been scolded for the mess.

"Maybe the rabbits will like it. Give them a mechanical brother."
