I've never seen a piece of media grasp the absolute grief of having an unhealthy relationship with a brother like trigun has. I've never related nor cried so much over a pair of brothers who love each other but in such fundamentally different and incompatible ways. Vash loves Nai as a person, as his family, as a friend he wants to have a good relationship with but because of who Nai is and his actions Vash can't love him like that. Nai loves Vash as his brother, as the position Vash held in his life, as an extension of himself but not as who Vash is as an individual, in fact he vehemently hates who Vash is as a person and refuses to believe that Vash is like that of his own volition. Nai does not view Vash as his own person outside of his relationship with Nai or someone who is capable of having thoughts and opinions that differ from Nai's. He still sees Vash as his little twin brother who sat beside him on that bench and completed his piano song. Something that completes him but is ultimately lesser than him, something he can control, a tool, a balm to his loneliness, but never a person, never just Vash. And Vash wants his big brother so badly, in a way that drags at his heart and burdens his shoulders but Nai will never be his big brother again, not in a way that doesn't do irreparable damage to Vash and everyone he loves. They each yearn for something they cannot have and no longer exists. That scene where they're fighting over the cube and Vash looks at Nai with eyes full of tears because goddammit he loves his big brother so fucking much but Nai isn't a person he can afford to love without losing everything else and Nai looks at him with anger and frustration that he can't have what he believes belongs to him is just the epitome of their relationship. The heartbreak of loving a brother who does nothing but actively harm you is so difficult to capture but trigun does it so flawlessly. Idk maybe it's just that it most accurately reflects the relationship I have with my brother and Im massively projecting but goddammit I want to shake the writer's hands.
This. This analysis right here. This wins.
The Outbursts of Everett True was a comic strip that ran in papers from 1905 to 1927, wherein the aforementioned Everett True regularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude. Men have not only been taking up too much room on public transport for about as long as public transport has existed, but the people around them have been irritated about it for at least a hundred years. The next time someone tries to claim that manspreading is a false phenomenon, please direct them to this strip so that Everett True can correct their misconceptions with an umbrella upside the head.
I have never before heard of Everett True, but if he âregularly beat the everliving shit out of rude people as a warning to anyone else who might consider being rude,â I have a strong spiritual connection with him.
I fucking love him
i can imagine this guyâs voice very clearly in my head but i couldnât put a name to itÂ
He also jabs racists in the eye!
I love the justice grandpa of fists
Iâm very lucky to own a book thatâs a collection of most of these comics (sadly not all of them) and would highly recommend hunting these down if you can. Sorry for the lack of a scanner but phone photos will just have to do.
He was a enjoyable cuss who didnât care for war mongering.
Especially profitable war mongering and excuses for it!
He certainly didnât like selfish husbands and fathers!
Politicians who turned on their words once they got theirs werenât safe.
He said fuck the police!
He absolutely didnât like people ruining little things for kids.
He stood up for foreigners. Especially those doing their best to communicate with limited second language knowledge.
He was not having any tomfoolery when it came to gun safety and laws. Especially with youth involved.
You had better not abuse a animal with him nearby. Heâd right that wrong real quick!
And best of all him and his wife were both prickly cusses together. Relationship goals.
I have a new role model
đ
âjustice grandpa of fistsâ
Itâs nice to see a fat dude in a political cartoon thatâs NOT being used as shorthand for greed and corruption.
Hes like the personification of motherfucker unlimited
Reblogging this newer version of this thread with so many more strips I havenât seenâŚwhy did this character ever disappear. Where did you go, Everett.
we need him more than everâŚ
sorry to make a long post longer but I feel like we could all really use some Everett True Beating Up Anti-Maskers content:Â
Heâs a hero, our Everett.
Just found out there were live action Everett True shorts (silent films, though, so the outbursts were largely body language)
Reblogging to always have it to hand. :)
I love how this man chooses violence almost every time.
Half elves canât grow facial hair, Mustache Vax isnât real he canât hurt you!
Mustache Vax:
Vax canât grow facial hair for an entirely different reason. đ
Man, I have seriously missed Vaxâs smiles!

Velora Vessar, owlbear enthusiast and general cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure.Â
I just adore the way the twins look at their little sister!
At the end of campaign one, one of the last things Vaxâildan does is âwalk awayâ from the rest of the group.
This is going to be animated. Or Iâm pretty sure it will be. And I am not okay.
âBut where Iâm going, I donât think you can follow.â
Ow. I just took a critical hit to my heart. Rolling death saves now.
Oh Syldor, still under the misguided impression that the twins need to prove their worth to you, when the opposite is true. YOU need to prove yourself to THEM.
the first time we see the strings of fate outside the into is vax and vex being connected and then the raven queen severs the connection-
Yeah, that momentâŚow. It physically hurts. Iâm dead. Iâm dead like Vex was. I will not stop saying this. Ow.
Just thinking about how the Raven Queen severed Vex and Vax's thread that tied them together, and then later when Vax tells Vex everything had changed.
That moment where the thread of fate snapped and Vaxâs hand on his chest afterâŚokay, Iâm dead. Iâm dead like Vex was.
Endless TLOVM
The snap of that golden thread of fate and Vaxâs reaction to it hurt more than anything else.
Vax and the Raven Queen
Not if if this has been brought up by anyone else, but has anyone noticed the Raven Queenâs motions? Sheâs holding out her hand to someone. Someone that Vax (and the audience) cannot see. Since sheâs the goddess of death, I bet sheâs reaching out to a soul of someone who has just died. Especially since Vax has seen her in places with death, thus far.
I think itâs a cool opposition to what we normally consider when we think of someone like the grim reaper. They are usually there to steal your soul away after you die, usually rather violently. But here, the Raven Queen is holding out a gentle hand to guide you into the next stage, whatever that ends up being. Itâs kind of gentle, as opposed to fearsome.
I canât wait to see how they develop her character in future episodes!
January 2023 started interestingly
Got to say, Iâm not sure I can handle the coming year if this is how itâs starting. Might just go into cryostasis for a few years instead.
do not go far from me.
Gods, this art is gorgeous!
I am both looking forward and dreading this moment in the show. My only consolation is that the Raven Queen doesnât take Vax until the end of the campaign, not during the Chroma Conclave.
So that scene that absolutely broke me in the actual stream wonât be shown in The Legend of Vox MachinaâŚunless they do continue to make the Vecna arc in another season, but with all the craziness with WotC/Hasbro, Iâm not sure if that will happen.
So does anyone else ship Ashton x Laudna? I canât find any content! The âwe can find new things about ourselves together.â đ
What would their ship name be: GothPunk? DeadPunk? Ashna? Lauton?
Iâve seen it be called âGravestoneâ but I donât know if thatâs widely accepted or not.
