“Do you… do you have an appointment?” Hope knew the man who’d just walked into the apartment absolutely did not have an appointment. Jessica would never have left her alone if that was the case. That was the whole point of making Alias Investigations by appointment only. She gripped the file she was holding tighter to keep her hands from shaking.

“Not technically.” And given how poorly his initial conversation with Jessica Jones went, Grant wasn’t going to attempt to make one either. He was certain she’d just hang up the phone the second she figured out it was him. “I did tell your... roommate that I was going to drop by though.” Which was true enough. He’d made it quite clear that he was going to keep coming back until Jessica actually talked to him about her alleged powers. “When is she supposed to be back?”

He could be stubborn, but she was far more stubborn. If she could go toe-to-toe with Hill, she could break Grant down easy. “Besides, he’s been hanging out with Captain America and I do not want to get him involved. I’m pretty sure he has a moral stance against my work. And, besides, that just attracts all the Avengers’ attention and then I have to deal with that mess…”

“Thought you were friends with the Avengers. Or friends with Barton at least.” Grant knew damn well that eventually he was just going to have to agree with Jessica about this vigilante thing. She wasn’t going to let it go, and she’d figure out some kind of counter argument for everything he proposed. But that wasn’t going to keep him from offering up suggestions. Being a vigilante right now wasn’t a good move, certainly not for the general population. Not when Grant was still having trouble controlling his powers when he was in a fight. “Speaking of Barton, why don’t you just get him to move out here and be your stand in vigilante? He’s retired from the Avengers game again.”

“Do I look like I give one good goddamn about Phil Coulson’s little bitch fit?” Jessica arched an eyebrow at him. Honestly, if Coulson was going to worry about her hanging out with Grant, he would’ve tried it already. (Tried being the keyword.) Grant had been bumming on her couch every time he blew town for ages now. “I’m pregnant, you’re unemployed. And San Francisco is definitely going to go to hell if I take off for a year. Like Hell’s Kitchen kind of shit.”

How Jessica managed to get out of Hydra and SHIELD entirely was still beyond him. Grant doubted that simply threatening to electrocute Maria Hill worked. But he wasn’t going to question it. Jessica was the last person Grant could trust, and she was the last person who seemed to actually trust him (or at least tolerate him). “I’m technically not unemployed,” he corrected. “And not that I’m ungrateful for everything you’ve done for me these past few months, but can’t you find someone else to be your replacement vigilante? What about that ant guy? Pretty sure he’d be a good vigilante, and he’s always here. Besides, he’d be less... destructive.”

Everyone that still had anything to do with that organization knew they Grant was in some serious trouble with SHIELD. “Training me to be your stand in vigilante isn’t going to get me back in Coulson’s good graces any time soon. Pretty sure it’s going to give him the reason he’s been looking for to throw me back in that cell, Jessica.”

As far as expressing gratitude went, Grant had never been good at it. Mostly because he’d never had anything to be grateful for. “Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with me. Though I’m sure Skye is always going to assume going against the system is the better option.”

In regards to the previous post, I do also play Grant as he is portrayed in canon up to his death. From the death, I would have to diverge from canon and have Grant not be brutally murdered by Coulson but still be possessed.

I am still working on my verse page, but so there is no confusion while the page is being worked on, my main verse for Grant Ward is canon divergent. In my main verse, Grant managed to make a deal with Coulson. Instead of being locked up in some basement holding cell at a SHIELD base, he became an undercover agent for Coulson to help with the newly arisen Hydra problem.

**Note** Everything Grant does is closely monitored by SHIELD to ensure that he isn't playing them.

You must keep in mind that my Grant Ward is canon divergent to the point he's almost entirely AU.

That being said, I do ship Ward with Daisy, but understand why many no longer do. I also have a specific verse with @scvietassassin in which Natasha made a deal with Coulson to let her have custody of Grant, and I ship our muses together there despite the fact that it's more or less Stockholm syndrome.

Other than that, I do not actively ship Grant with many other characters, but I am open to ships for roleplaying purposes.

         ❛    —i didn’t know you could apologise.   ❜   francis retorts without any lace of emotion rooted in his voice. he puts down his bow eventually , expertly ; thinking how it’s not worth straining his muscle for a man who’s betrayed so many. he isn’t worried that ward has a chance of attacking him now if he ever so wishes ; he wouldn’t appreciate the fight , but he’s pretty certain ward will be killed even before he could reach to francis. what can he say — contingency plans are fun to make when you want to trap a traitor. though francis really doesn’t give a shit about the whole double ( triple ? ) agent thing the guy’s got going ; he’s more concern of the fact that his goddamn biological mother is on a hospital bed right now.

          francis retreats then to the briefcase where he’s managed to purchased a poison that he has altered. and here he thought chemistry wasn’t as appealing. he takes a moment to think of how he’s never shot an arrow with a syringe before , to poison people no less. but he bets it’ll be satisfactory.

               he doesn’t move an inch despite the fact that the kid has lowered his bow. it’s obvious when people are experts with their weapons. every agent can tell when their outclassed. right now? right now, grant is outclassed. he’s seen how fluidly this kid moves. it’s strikingly similar to the way morse moves. grant knows that the second he moves, the second he tries to attack, the kid could have an arrow in him. and hell, if the kid is smart enough that he can get the drop on grant, he’s got to have some kind of contingency plan in case grant gets the upper hand. it’s what he’d do if he ever needed to kidnap someone dangerous. brown eyes follow the kid’s every step towards the briefcase. despite the seriousness of the situation, the beginnings of a smile tug at his lips. 

              he more than deserves what’s about to happen. grant fully believes that. after everything he’s done, everyone he’s crossed, he deserves what this kid is about to do to him. he’s been on enough missions, got captured enough to know that it’s poison in that briefcase. this kid wants him to suffer.
