I download AO3 fics occasionally, mainly DRRR ones. But since Apple Book default covers are downright hideous, I took matters into my own hands.

Truthfully it isn’t any better than the default, but it is an excuse to draw Izaya.

Imagine my surprise when I jump on tumblr for the first time in ages and see ACI has an update!! I've been following your comic for years and honestly I think your art especially the way you draw anatomy is incredible. Any tips and tricks or recommendations for an artist who has heaps of stories to tell but doesn't know where to start when it comes to creating a comic. (Would love some anatomy tips as well if possible) Anyway loooove your work!!

Haha thank you!! i am a very slow artist nowadays, but it's so lovely hearing that people are still excited about it. I can't believe you've followed it for years, thank you so much!!! I've worked on it for 6 years now, that's crazy.

My tips and tricks for comics is to start. Don't start on the masterpiece just yet, but start making comics for your stories!!! a few pages here and there, oneshots and OAV episodes type of stories!! I have made many many OC comic pages before ACI and can't begin to explain how much I've learned by making things and finding out what worked for me.

I've made original webtoons, printed comic zines for cons, entered comic challenges,,, Just start!! and the beautiful thing with comics is that it forces you to get better, because of the amount of art you have to do to produce something coherent.

I've never studied anatomy, and my cartoony stylization helps with having no idea what a body actually looks like ;) It would be ill-advised to ask me for anatomical advices, but I'd say to reference things a lot. You want your character in a certain position? Take a photo of yourself with the angle you need, and use it for reference. It'll come naturally the more you draw panels!!

Of course! I think they deleted their accounts on pretty much all social media a while back, i haven’t heard from them in a long time! I know they were trying to publish original work so hopefully they’re thriving and having their book published and we have no idea 🙏😌

Hey hey! Just read all of your aci comic chapters(again), and I just REEEEEALY wanted to tell you that your panelling is EXTREMELY FREAKING COOL. Like. SO cool!!!!

The panels are really dynamic, and I really really like how you integrate the page background with environment/scene transitions. Like, the way you transition from black to white background to convey switching 'pov's in some places - very tasty.

And just like, the way you panel chase/fight scenes man! Incredible!! You already convey movement like a pro in your poses, but then you add the paneling to the equation and BOOM it's even MORE DYNAMIC.

And then there's the way you use letting for "sound effects", and make them into entire separate frames in some places. And I mean, in addition to that is your regular use of speech bubbles - they flow very well, and don't overwhelm the reader at all. Like, it's a very easy to read comic, which says a lot about you design/layout skills.

Anyway, point is - if I ever need to make a comic for something I'm doing an ACI case study first xd

I’m very lucky to have spent the last 6-7 years amongst comic making friends and we’ve had looooong talks about readability. I feel like I learned so much about flow of action, speech bubbles and onomatopoeia, I’m so happy you think my comic is easy to read and dynamic, it means I’m doing a good job 🥺
