Do you like destruction? Whump? Angst? Passion turned to pain? The Cosmere is the perfect place for it. Come join us in ruining relationships, destroying mental health, and rending apart flesh and bone!

To participate, create a Cosmere fanwork to break hearts--written, art, music, craft, all are welcome.

The Shipwrecked Collection on ao3 will open on August 1, 2026 and close two months later on Sep 30. Add your work to the Collection at any point during that time. You can also post it on tumblr and tag @shipwrecked-event or submit it here!

Both! You can wreck a ship, but it doesn't have to be shippy.

Can I write my favourite shipwreck Ati/Leras?

Of course! This isn't just about Stormlight. You can draw from Mistborn, Warbreaker, even Isles of the Emberdark for your inspiration!

Life flashed by in quick glimpses, flickers of illuminated memory shattering the dark before her eyes. Breathe. Breathe. The knife was placed squarely in her heart. She didn’t have much time left. 

Hands shook as she fumbled her phone out of her pocket, flashes revealing the cracked screen, the body on the floor behind it. Dark mist pooled around the edges of her vision, taunting, laughing, present. Her hands trembled as she slowly, painstakingly pressed the numbers for a mobile phone into the dial-pad. Breathe. Breathe.

Her breath grew wet and mucousy as the phone rang, rang. Breathe. Breathe.

Her hands shook some more as the phone rang, rang.

A little click, and a bright voice cut through the raucous silence. “Yes?”

Breathe. Breathe.

She sank back against a wall, blood spilling out the side of her mouth. When she spoke, her voice was wet and raggedy. “Hey, Hoid.”

Instant concern, and a furrowed brow. “Darling? Are you okay?”

She shook her head slightly, though he couldn’t hear it. She breathed, breathed slimy, awful breaths. “Hoid.” His voice was ragged now too. He spoke with the weight of death on his voice. “Yes, my baby.”

She tried to smile for him. “Can you tell me a story?”

Just to let yall know that after he got disintegrated by Odium, Wit had no way to retrieve his belongings.

So all of his stuff is probably locked away in a closet in Jasnah's room bc she can't bear to look them, just waiting for the day he comes back.

Thinking about Paalm and MeLaan.

Because Paalm fell in love with a human, and let herself fall so in love that she defied Harmony for him. She loses her sanity and her life because of her decision to defy Harmony for Wax, and she suffers greatly.

MeLaan watches all this happen. She’s working with Wax and Wayne to stop her. So when she notices herself falling in love with Wayne, falling so in love with him that she doesn’t know if she could leave him if she waits, do you think she remembered what happened to Paalm? Was a part of the reason she chose to leave because she has seen what happens to a kandra who defies Harmony for love?

Just thinking about the parallels between them. MeLaan is what could have happened if Paalm had obeyed Harmony. Paalm is what could have happened if MeLaan let herself love Wayne.

Super excited for this! Is there a word count requirement for fics?

There is no word count requirement! They can be as short or as long as you want. You're welcome to submit multiple fanworks if you want to explore a theme or can't decide between ideas.

Writing something short is recommended for those who have other responsibilities, or vacation or school starting in September. It's also recommended if you have one heartbreaking scene in mind. These shorter whump fics by @embersonawind are great examples of whump fics in the 1500-3000 word range, and great inspirations! Of course, you can go even shorter than that if you want.

If you're inspired to write a long fic, it doesn't have to be finished by the due date. Just make sure you post the first chapter by Sept 30 to get it into the Collection. It's all good!
