I did read the fan translated interview that people usually link to, but felt that some parts are….mistranslated and insufficient, for lack of word, with some parts translated into saying the opposite of what was actually said.

That said, I’m doing this because I wanted to, and to be perfectly honest I’ve got no control over what anyone wants to believe, so it’s up to you to draw up your own conclusions.

This is the only time I'm gonna be doing this -- but since this is a bonus extra and it's so cute and I translated live on discord anyway, fine, here ya go!

But just the Kacchan parts~

Kacchan: "All Might is watching, so I'm gonna get ahead of you, De...Izuku."

Kirishima: "What's with the way you're saying his name? You're still not used to it, I guess." Ashido: "Must feel weird, huh, Midoriya." Izuku: "Yeah... It was the same thing for more than ten years, after all..."

Todoroki: "Not really, it's nice, isn't it? It's a thing that childhood friends call each other by their given names, right?" Kacchan: "IT AIN'T. What the hell would you know about it!" Todoroki: "Weren't you childhood friends?" Kacchan: "I JUST CAN'T GET AWAY FROM THE GUY, DAMMIT!"

"inseparable" is a hilarious oversimplification of what Kacchan actually said, fyi

I went with "just can't get away" because it shows he's feigning annoyance/displeasure at it, he's being argumentative and denying that he ever intentionally maintained their relationship. The kanji literally means "rotten bond"!

He's being a tsundere, friends. <3

I sure have. My thoughts are that 431 was such a convoluted, miserable mistake that Horikoshi's editors held him at gunpoint until he fixed shit, because public stock in the series was PLUMMETING LMAO.

Jokes aside, this is what people actually wanted to see in those extras pages in volume 42. This is what everyone wanted out of an ending beyond 430's beautiful, heartfelt, outstretched hand: some closure for everyone's journeys, a reminder of the bonds Izuku forged, hope for the future, and the wonderful joy it is to see that Katsuki and Izuku's shared childhood dreams ultimately became reality. They are heroes, together.

It is, quite frankly, a travesty that this exists solely within the confines of a short bonus in the back of a character book. They deserve better. And for many people, this is too little, too late. I'd love it if the anime just skipped 431 entirely and ended with this little scene, but I know better than to hope for that.

The fact that Horikoshi still dodged the question of whether Izuku and Ochako are romantically entangled in any way is a hysterical cherry on top of this weird-ass cake.

But when all is said and done, Bakugou Katsuki got his man. And he's gonna chase him forever, which has always been his truest wish.

And I love nothing more than for Kacchan to get exactly what he wants.

Reporter: It's One For All Hero: Deku!! Riding on an unprecedented surge, he jumped to Number 4 in one fell swoop!!! Katsuki: Ain't you got any kids who're suspended or takin' remedial classes? Izuku: No, thankfully, they are all brilliant! Not like we were~! Reporter: Which triggered an explosive reaction! Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight takes a flying leap to Number 5!!

fyi there is so much going on here, the reporter uses an amazing pun:

Izuku entering the charts as a hero set Katsuki off, like a bomb. He's the reason Katsuki fought for a higher rank. It inspired him and made him wanna compete and win.

The news reporter describes Izuku and Katsuki as "arguing like crazy" as they headed to the scene of the incident (with Shouto, who was not participating in their argument).
