I actually wrote this back during the FFF362 time period (for @shittishittibangbang! <3), but haven’t had the opportunity to post Joseph’s latest super bad time that came from my blorbo Toich’s bad time until now. And now it’s here and everyone in ciggo sando is suffering :)

It’s going to hurt. He saw Suzuki’s aura flare in Yoshi’s kitchen and he knew it was going to hurt. It already did.
It wasn’t a plan, he hadn’t thought about what he needed to do or what not doing it was going to do to his job, it was just. He saw it, Suzuki’s aura and whatever was wrong with Suzuki’s aura since parts of Suzuki’s body started going haywire, and he knew it would hurt. What’s left of his right leg could tell you that.
It was going to hurt.
“Agent?”
There’s a hand on his head, fingers running over his buzzcut. There’s cold tile under his legs, the bad one at a bad angle, and he doesn’t know where his cane is.
“Joseph?” His name is muffled. He thinks at first because he hit his head—did Suzuki throw him? again? through a wall and under rubble and—but there’s another hand holding onto his side. When he looks down, it’s Suzuki Yoshi under him, eyes wide, as much of his body as he could get curled around hers.
He thought—
He moves a little, a fresh flare of pain in his leg. When he looks up, his cane is over in a corner. Not broken, but knocked on its side. He must have thrown it. He saw Suzuki’s aura and he knew it was—
The kitchen’s fine, spotless like Suzuki keeps it every day now to make up for moving in with his ex-wife. There’s no scorch marks on the ceiling or the walls from Suzuki, no other pain, no rubble pinning—
“It’s okay,” Yoshi says, the smile on her face stressed at the edges. “We’re s—we’re fine. You can let me up now.“
Red flickers at the edge of his vision—it’s going to hurt—for a moment and he curls again. When it stops, Suzuki’s unstable aura, his cane clatters back on the floor. Yoshi rubs his side in slow circles. Her hand’s shaking.
He doesn’t know if that’s his fault or Suzuki’s. He’ll blame Suzuki.
He knows Yoshi doesn’t like using her powers. He knows she struggles with them, that how good any basic telekinesis from her is depends on the day. Still, his cane comes over to them, pulled along like a string instead of lifted like Suzuki would, Yoshi’s mouth pressed down to a line with the effort.
The cane smacks into his right side and hurts just a little. Yoshi’s out of breath, her hand’s still on his side.
He’d have to be a real asshole not to try getting up after all that.
It’s not easy, his hand shakes trying to steady the cane, to lever himself up off the floor, but he does it. Then helps Yoshi up too and doesn’t look too closely at the smile on her face. He’s not sure if it would be worse to see pity or fear.
Suzuki stays behind them, quiet and backed away from them up against the stove. He was making lunch, trying to make his bullshit up to Yoshi, to apologize for needing her now after his body gave up on him. The fucking ‘ultimate lifeform’ who left a hole through three buildings and Joseph’s side by accident.
The stove’s fine too. It was a flareup, but it wasn’t bad. Just burnt food and a Suzuki who won’t look at either of them. When Yoshi moves, Suzuki backs further away. Good. Good.
Yoshi sits down very carefully at the kitchen table with their three chairs. The exes and the agent who’s supposed to blow Suzuki up if comes to that. Before all this, Joseph set the plates.
“We need takeout,” Yoshi says instead of telling both of them to get the hell out of her house.
Joseph doesn’t say anything. Suzuki turns off the stove by hand.
