Scout -
Living in a tiny apartment with his ma and his brothers, they didn’t really have the space or money for any pets. He is so on board with keeping every single one of these dogs and he is totally not crying what the hell are you talking about man, it’s just his allergies acting up. He’d try to hide them in the base for as long as he could before he either A. realizes this is probably a bad idea and not an ideal living situation for all these doggos or B. gets caught by someone more responsible and is forced to put them up for adoption. That won’t stop him from keeping one dog around anyways and trying to convince his ma to let him keep the dog at her house.
Soldier -
More soldiers for his army! He congratulates his S/O for their recruitment skills as he sizes them up. They’re a little small but he’s sure he can bulk them up and start training them in no time! He tries to introduce Lt. Bites to the rookies but is persuaded into thinking they should hold off on the recruiting when Lt. Bites almost rips an ear off of Private Foxtrot and Engineer has to intervene. The puppies are sent to a shelter with Engie and Sol and Jane spends the entire process sending off his comrades with manly tears in his eyes and yelling the American anthem for them outside the shelter.
Pyro -
Unlike Scout, Pyro is probably just going to immediately tear up and cry over all these teensy squirming little babies and is going to keep sobbing for the next hour as they try to hold all of the dogs at once. They would likely be able to hide the dogs much longer than Scout with the help of their S/O until Pyro accidentally drops a squeaky toy they were sneaking into the base for them and a small army of fully grown dogs bust out of their room.
Demoman -
I like to think Demoman is that kid who has always desperately wanted a dog but never got one. Now he gets to finally live out his fantasy of that army of dogs he always wanted, especially if it’s a big breed of dog. Though he’d probably have to send them back home with his mum for the time being since he knows the other mercs and Pauling probably wouldn’t be too pleased with 6-10 puppies running around the bases. His S/O’s house will be so protected when those dogs are fully grown though, anyone that tries to break in is in for a big surprise. Definitely teaches them to come on command by saying ‘release the hounds.’
Heavy -
Also has never had a dog probably but definitely likes them and the idea of a few around the house to keep his family safe, especially if they’re big ol’ strong dogs like the caucasian ovcharka. Would ideally like two or three dogs when his contract ends, but doesn’t want to burden his mother or sisters by giving them a litter of dogs to raise and train. After the puppies are well cared for and strong enough to be fully independent, he ends up letting his S/O deal with the foster placements since he would probably wind up getting too attached. Promises his S/O they’ll at least have a few dogs when the Administrator lets them go.
Engineer -
You know he probably had a golden retriever or german shepherd or some other typical farm dog growing up, so he’d been a little enamored with the puppies but will refuse off the bat to keep them in the base for more than a few days. Will stand his ground on letting Teufort’s animal shelter care for them if his S/O is working with him, but would be more lenient if his partner stayed home and didn’t have a job that took up most of their time. One of those guys who keeps saying they’re not a big fan of little dogs but catch him curled up on the couch with one of the puppies he let his S/O keep while he’s off of work.
Medic -
Wouldn’t put it past him to want to experiment on dogs, but they are puppies and they’re so small and he knows his S/O would be pissed if he even suggested it, so he lets that thought slide. Like Spy, he knows they can’t really bring dogs into the base, especially his lab, but will let them keep a single dog if they live away from him. Has probably had very little experience with dogs so Medic’s indifferent for the most part but thinks it would be good to have something to keep his S/O safe while he’s not around. If the dog is around long enough, he may just get a little bit attached.
Sniper -
Sniper has always had a weakness for animals, especially dogs. I wouldn’t doubt it if he had a couple of dogs growing up. He tries to put his foot down but when he sees them in the box all squished together he’s suddenly all ‘it would be nice to have a dog around. keep the enemy spy away from the camper yeah?’ and ‘’m sure Miss Pauling won’t mind if we keep it quiet right?’ and his S/O ends up with a very loyal and spoiled guard dog and the other pups are fostered after some tearful goodbyes.
Spy -
He loves his S/O dearly but knows to bring so many dogs into the base would be too chaotic to fly under the Administrator’s radar. If his S/O doesn’t work with him, he may let them keep one or two to keep them company when he’s gone, but otherwise insists on finding homes for them. Spy has never particularly been fond of animals, but the puppies are just so teeny and cute that he may just take some time off while his S/O finds them families. Just to help of course.
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS, BRO, HOLY SHIT CJWIZNQIZJS MY HEART ;;
