what was so important about dazai’s words to fyodor?

so first we must see his mindset during the dark era, before we can see how it changed after he joined the agency and said those words to fyodor.

during the dark era, he didn’t have any motivation to live, and all he wanted was to escape from “this oxidising world of a dream”.

he doesn’t see anything to live for, in this “oxidising world” where no one else can fill the gap he has inside. he isn’t even looking for a place in this world, he just wants to escape it.

however, odasaku understands dazai’s ‘emptiness’, and even sees dazai for who he is, “just a child who’s too smart”, “a crying child who’s been left alone in the darkness”. he sees dazai’s loneliness in the mafia, and uses his last words to give dazai a reason to live by helping others, and by extension joining the agency.

and now, this shows how important his words to fyodor were, years after he left the mafia and joined the agency.

when he says this, it shows that dazai finally understands that the world and the people in it are imperfect, and most importantly, sees himself as one of them. he realizes that although he, and everyone else is “sinfully stupid”, there is nothing wrong about that. this is the change in his mindset from the dark era, where he wanted to escape from the rotten world, when now he accepts himself as a part of this rotten world. this is also very different from fyodor’s mindset, where he wants to cleanse this dirty world from the “sin of ability users” , rather than accepting it. however, although odasaku’s dying wish was the only thing that motivated him to leave the mafia and join the agency to help people, it is not his reason for living, and he is still searching for one, but he is not actively actually trying to die, which again shows a change in his mindset, when during the dark era he did not even want to try to find a motivation.

Why is anime Fyodor such a jerk like

He just shot Katai?? Without even taking off his boots?? Russia and Japan share the same custom of taking your shoes off when entering someone else’s house so this isn’t even a cultural ignorance thing Fyodor is just being rude

Like yeah he shot Katai but at least he took his shoes off like a good houseguest not like his rude anime counterpart…

in the new ep, who was akutagawa talking about

when he said he “knew a man who had the same eyes as yours” to kyouka?

in the manga, it seemed like he was referring to dazai,

with the focus mainly on dazai’s eyes, rather than his own.

however in the anime, it was obviously referring to akutagawa, emphasising the similarity of their eyes.

so, who was he referring to?

if it was himself, the person he met would be dazai, and joining the port mafia gave him a purpose in life.

if it was dazai, the person he met would be oda(?), and joining the agency gave him a purpose in life(?)

but akutagawa was more likely to have been talking about himself bc, ya the anime, and even after dazai joined the agency, he still lacks a purpose to live, even with fufilling oda’s wish of saving people, as seen by his multiple suicide attempts. on the other hand, akutagawa seems to be fighting to live, all for the sake of getting praise from dazai, the person he met who gave him a reason to live.
