By now, I'm sure everyone has seen the project boneyard trailer and as excited as I am about Coyles' new trial environment as we've been waiting on it FOREVER.. CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE NEW SPECIALIST EXPOP PLEEEAASEEEEEUHHHH.. HE LOOKS SO COOL, AND IM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH TO SEE MORE OF HIM!!!!
Edit: apon watching the 2nd cenamatic, I've realized this is infact not the new expop but possibly the new trial victim, BUT EITHER WAY.....
Recently, I've been thinking about how the Kress Twins don't have a big intro cutscene for The Shopping Mall, while the other Assets do in their main trials. I feel like for most cutscenes, many just ignore or don't think too much of them, but I feel like it's one of the big reasons why there wasn't much hype surounding Otto and Arora when their trial finally came out, so I wanted to look more into each cutscene for each trial and rank them from my least favorite to my favorite!
I'll be basing my rankings on how well it introduces the Asset, how charismatic or lackluster it is, and overall how visually interesting or entertaining it is to watch.
Unfortunately, there aren't cutscenes for The Factory or Shopping Mall, so those maps won't be mentioned.
#9 Orphanage:
Honestly, I don't think this one shows off Gooseberry as an Asset very well. It's pretty short, underwhelming, and I feel like most people don't even realize she's there and just run right past her.
It's also visually very boring, with nothing too exciting happening. (;´д`)
I will give it some points for her iconic line of "Let's all enjoy some angel dust so we're ready to seize the day!" I feel like the voice acting is really what amplifies a lot of the introductions, and I do love her lines and how she talks to Futterman.
Buttt, overall, it's pretty underwhelming, and doesn't show her character off as well as I think it could have.
#8 Courthouse:
Similar to the orphanage, I think this one is very underwhelming, but I think it does a better job at showcasing Coyle as an Asset. This one has a selection of different voice lines that he could say, but I think each one shows off his personality quite well.
This one is visually a bit more entertaining, as he makes a show to yoink his cattle prod out of a corpse, so it makes the scene a bit more interesting.
I also think people notice this cutscene more than Gooseberry's, as you think you can walk straight to the courtroom before a gate shuts down, followed by the cutscene.
I still think it's kind of underwhelming, but better than The Orphanage cutscene.
#7 Suburbs:
This is where I think the cutscenes actually start to get pretty good, and this one in particular shows off Franco as an Asset very well. It shows how short-tempered and aggressive he is, as he waves Lupara around, and his lines really amplify his character.
I think the setup and atmosphere for this one are much better than the previous 2. The spotlights, mannequins, and the stage really set the mood, and it makes it a more interesting setup!
Also, bonus points for when Franco gets on his tippy-toes when leaning up against the podium. ( ≧∀≦)ノ
All in all, I think this is a very solid intro, just not nearly as good as the ones that come up next.
#6 Fun Park:
Okay, so I might have swayed my ranking for this one just a little bit higher, purely because of Gooseberry's singing, BECAUSE I LOVE IT SO MUCH, but I still think it shows her off pretty well. It shows her using her drill, as well as showcasing both her and Futterman's personalities, which I love to see.
Visually, I think it's decently appealing. We don't get a very close look at her setup, but I don't think you really need a super close-up look into her particular room for the atmosphere to be good. I also like the dramatic blood spatter that coats the window as she drills into the dude's face, and it definitely makes the scene more interesting!
Again, bonus points for her wonderful singing! ♪ヽ(´▽`)/
Overall, it's much better than her 1st one, as it showcases her better and is more interesting and visually entertaining.
#5 Television Studio:
So, I think the Television Studio intro is SO GOOD. It really does make up for them not having one in their first trial, and I really think this made me appreciate them a lot more!
I think it showcases them as Assets VERY WELL. I love how Arora taps Otto on the shoulder to alert him of the escaping reagent and showcases them working together wonderfully. The only thing that I think could have made it better is if it showcased Arora's abilities better. We see Otto's strength here and how they have a 360 view, but I think it would be interesting if she threw a vile or something.
Visually, the entire map is SO GOOD, and I love the setup for their intro, the lights and detailing, and everything really ties it together, and I love it!
It's a really good first intro for them that really gets you to appreciate and love them a lot more.
#4 Resort:
Liliya's Resort intro scene shows off her playing style AMAZINGLY WELL!! I also love the beginning scene where we see the reagent speaking down to Dawn (The Lot). It shows off how Liliya blends in and stalks to showcase how different of an Asset she is, and I think that's a really important aspect.
Visually, it's a very appealing setup, and I love the dark scene with the glowing downstairs, and I remember it being so cool when Liliya revealed herself and how she just jumped on the reagent.
It's honestly such an interesting and captivating intro, and I love it!
#3 Downtown:
Now this one might be placed a bit higher just because I think it's really funny and entertaining, BUT it's still a good intro that showcases Franco's character.
Obviously, it's very memorable because of Franco's little gooning sesh, BUT it really shows off just how much of a little deviant he is, as well as showcasing his temperament as he shoots at us.
Visually, it's uhh,, REAL INTERESTING... but really the setup and spotlights of the scene are interesting, and I love how Franco seems to struggle to get on the stage, watching him pour wolf's milk all over himself was entertaining as well.
Overall, it's a very good intro that shows off his freak nature, and the atmosphere feels just right.
#2 Police Station:
I think the Police Station introduction is very solid. It shows Coyle off very well, showcasing just how temperamental and aggressive he is. I also love his iconic line about having laws, and it really shows off his personality and is very charismatic.
Visually, I think it's very appealing, and I love how we get to see him close up, and the animation really grabs your attention. The electricity sparking off the bars is also a very nice touch!
Overall, it's a very solid intro cutscene and proves that simple and to the point can be interesting!
#1 Docks:
The Dock scene has to be my favorite by far. It shows off Franco's childish behavior as he sits in the beheaded Heavy Grunt's lap, as well as showing his temperamental and dangerous side as he shoots the 2 men hanging, and then shoots at us.
The room Franco begins in with the Grunt is really lovely, and I love the details put into the room, and the overall atmosphere of it is wonderful and on point!
I also love Franco's iconic "WAHHH!!" as he's leaving, which further shows off his childish side.
I personally think this is the best Asset intro, and it shows off his charisma and character perfectly!
I'm honestly really excited for the new trials we're getting next season to see what kind of intros Red Barrels cooks up!! (* ゚∀゚)
So, I've been obsessed with the new Project Judas update, and I LOVE ERIK.. ( ≧∀≦)ノ
I've always found the trial victims interesting, but Erik has really sparked a cord with me! I was reading through the dialogue that was posted to his wiki and noticed some interesting things.
So, as many people have stated, Erik is very obviously autistic or has some kind of mental disability.
He tells us that he's from Rochester and that the doctors told him he's stupid and incapable of working. As we know, the trials took place in the 60s, so many with any sort of disability, especially a mental one, would have been treated like they were idiots.
But the thing I noticed and feel like I never hear anyone talk about is the fact that it seems Arora has assaulted and groomed him.
There are a few lines where he talks about a "her", who I can only assume is Arora, and he begs the reagent not to let her touch or get near him, plus some similar dialogue, that leads me to believe she assaulted him.
Among this, there are also lines where it seems he was groomed at least a little bit. Due to his disability, he's never really been well-liked or loved, and Arora seemed to use this to her advantage. He has many lines talking about how no one has ever liked him or called him beautiful before.
It also seems that this assault altered him in some way, as he has some rare, uncharacteristic lines where, instead of crying and begging us to stop, he offers to be pretty for us, among other things.
I thought these lines were very strange, but considering Arora likely groomed him, using his disability and the promise of love as leverage, they make more sense.
This also makes his cries for Arora to help him a lot sadder.
But that's about the end of this rant! I honestly found his dialogue really interesting, and I wished people talked about this aspect of his character more!
This will be my first time posting on here! I'm not too sure how everything works, buttt... I might post on here more often, probably just silly little outlast related rambles here and there, plus maybe some art. ( ゚∀゚)
Anyways, here's a little rant about Franco's appearance and some headcannons!
So one obvious feature of Franco is his large head and skull. Although it's never directly stated what condition he has, I believe it to be hydrocephalus, which causes an enlarged head, which was further deformed by shotgun recoil and the frequent abuse from his father.
It could also possibly be crouzon syndrome, which can cause a larger head (though typically not to the magnitude and shape of Franco's), but also bulging eyes, sometimes a lazy eye, and heavy breathing, all of which Franco has.
He also seems to have a subconjunctival hemorrhage in one of his eyes, which both conditions can cause.
Franco is definitely a short and stout man. He's about 4'5, and it's heavily implied throughout the comics and documents that he might have some form of dwarfism, or is just extremely small, as they frequently mention his insecurities and impotency around his overall stature.
Also, the fact that he was able to literally fit himself inside the stomach of Island Jenny. (・・;)
Although he is short and fat, he is clearly very strong. He can toss reagents around with ease, so he most likely has somewhat strong and muscular arms to just be wielding us around like that.
Something I've also noticed about him is his large, protruding chest. This may just be caused by the way he walks, though, as he does seem to lean forward a heavy bit.
He also has very crooked and jacked-up teeth, accompanied by a very clear overbite and buck front teeth.
Not in his official design, but prevalent in his concept art, he has 2 beauty marks, or moles, on each side of his face that I always like to imagine him with.
He also has an unused voiceline about ruining his manicure, so maybe he has well taken care of his nails before coming to Sinyala, that is.
More onto headcannons, it's very clear that Franco has experienced a life of violence and mafia business, so I'd assume he has some kind of scars to show for it, mainly from bullets.
I always invision his hair with more curls, rather than it being straight.
I'd also imagine Franco is a hairy man, but he's blond, so it won't stand out as much.
I also like to think of him having 2 sharp overlaping canines that stick out of his mouth a little.
Something I've noticed when drawing him is giving him differing pupil sizes. I'm not sure why, I guess I just like the way it looks.
That's about it for my little ramble about him. Maybe I'll post more on here!! (*´▽`)v
