I totally thought I already posted this but ig not

I WAS gonna post some sketches that’ll probably never get colored or rendered, but I realized there’s a lot I haven’t even posted to tumblr even though I prefer using it to post my smaller artworks/doodles

If it turns out that I HAVE posted this one and im just blind, I’m gonna be a little livid

My rendition of DoHW Kromer There were some elements I don't think I was properly able to convey in this, but yk im learning I lowk didn't wanna draw a bunch of human feet/legs on her (like in the sprite) so I adapted since i'm not very good at drawing those yet

As much as I wanted her to be more gross looking, I also wanted to keep the form pretty stable and solid-ish so I didn't go too wild I made her tail end more fleshy and soft/weak so she wasn't all muscle and still looked a bit like how she looks in her sprite (plus I could keep her human-ish legs there, almost as if she was not fully developed yet)

@/BEERM0N's work over on twitter actually inspired me to make a grotesque design for her worm form. I don't think they've been active for a while, but check out their work still, it's amazing

dont mind the doodles in the top corners, I was gonna color them too but my wrist can only take so much

some folks over in a discord server helped me make her a little more gross looking after I showed my sketch. Thanks to them I added her skin and arteries kind of sticking/melding with the floor for her tail end. They lowk gave me another idea for a kromer worm drawing but I end up hurting my wrist when I lock in, so it might be a while before I get back to it

I had a different vision in mind for this, but I couldn't execute it well enough. This is still pretty rough, so i'm gonna leave this here for now and them come back to it later to finish it up later if/when I can put my initial idea onto the canvas

Looking at it now i should probably make her cheeks more red... but then it kinda blends with the hair bc I didn't account for making it mostly red and blueish Can you tell i'm winging it? It's obvious i'm throwing paint at the wall huh? O well it's all a learning opportunity, and it's still a wip

anyway when i revisit it, im gonna fill the cavity with bugs and such, or at least attempt to unless another better idea comes to mind, idk we'll see

Her design’s a little more unique than her sisters I think, but I like drawing her (tbh I should draw her more often, she’s super cute🙂‍↕️)

Correct for liking Valencina! What would you say made you interested in her character? What's your favorite scene with her in it?

If I answer this honestly I feel like I'll be boo'd and poked with flaming pitchforks bc im a creep and a weirdo and I don't belong here

As much as I like how straight up awful she is as a person, there's also the way she desperately clings onto the lifestyle of the Thumb so profoundly that it impacts her even after she's been disgraced by them and disowned from her own family. Whatever she did to lose her high rank in three days is a huge mystery, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were simply a matter of disrespect since that's something the Thumb is a huge stickler for. ANYWAY I've read a few other headcannons about the way she treats both Lucio and Ryoshu and how it's a reflection of her own upbrining. I kind of like this idea mainly because if that were true, then it'd make sense in her own mind to continue the pattern based on how she's turned out. I mean she thrived in the war- even if it was a desperate attempt at getting back in the Thumb's good graces- and she was briefly ranked in the second highest position of her syndicate. Sure she'd got a relic that makes her untouchable, but there's no doubt she's a formidable opponent. And if Lucio (or also Ryoshu at the time) could get around that same level, then it'd only further help her in her own goal of getting back in the Thumb's good graces. It's really just a sad spiral of Valencina trying to reach her peak again, even if her methods are desperate and harmful to herself.

Even if we don't get too much more info with her Rodion ID, it's still interesting to speculate

I thought she was also a nice foil- with Gregor having been on the opposing side of the Smoke War. I think my favorite scene with her either had to be the first scene we see with her and little Ryoshu, or just the battle against her since that was both sick and and

Her voice is lovely and her voice actor did amazingly; I love the Thumb's uniforms and their group as a whole; her background is interesting to me and I wanna know everything there is to know about her; also her and Lucio's theme is so freaking tuff

I like the other nursefathers too, except Rein bc his obsequious and tranquil demeanor makes me mad and creeps me out (his nonchalance gets me heated)

Originally, she was gonna be completely flat in the 'water' but as I was rendering, I decided to poke the head out and it looked kind of cooler that way

I feel like I couldve detailed this better, but oh well, it's good practice for next time. I've been wanting to draw this version of Phanuel for along time but i couldn't ever properly execute my older ideas😭
