Itâs been a while since I posted any of my own stuff on here bc Iâve been so busy studying and sorting out my mental health. But hereâs a monthly spread for July which looks totally diff to my normal spreads (whereâs the colour??) but I wanted to restart my bujo with something a *bit* more minimalist and I think it looks p cute overall.
Also, as per usual this is made on my iPad Pro (9.7 inch) on an app called @goodnotesapp but could be easily made on paper or other apps like OneNote!
Really nice setup for monthly bujo pages, Iâm trying to switch from my normal style to a more minimalist style like @overworker is and this post helps inspire me :)

Questions you should ask yourself the night before a test
Weâve all experienced test anxiety and it ainât pretty at all, so hereâs some questions which would help you calm down a little before the exam and maybe get some revision done too!
The night before your exam, make a list of these questions and try to answer them and work on stuff you need to :
Have I solved the textbook exercise problems/questions?
Have I checked my class notes and noted all points the teacher marked as important and likely to appear in the paper?
Have I taken at least 1 practice test for this chap/subject?
Am I getting enough time to sleep before the test?
Do I have my supplies ready?
Is my water bottle filled and my stomach full?
Am I hungry?
Am I confident that I can ace this test?
If not, what can I do to get a little better grade than what Iâm expecting rn?
Is this topic important enough to be covered in an exam?
Did I go through my notes for this topic?
Do I understand the topics that will be asked in this test?
What kind of test if this (MCQs, theory, solving, etc)?
Am I prepared for that type of test?
Is there any way to get better at this particular test type?
How important will this exam be for my overall result?
Do I absolutely, really need to pull an all nighter for this test?
Have I gone through the textbook?
And lastly, does this exam define me as a human? Nope. It doesnât. So donât fret a lot okay?
Anyway this is a short list you can go through to help you ease your mind. Have fun and good luck on that test!

Hoe Tips: School and Studying
Iâm currently in PA school with close to a 4.0 GPA, and with college and back to school starting up, Iâm dropping some tips for y'all. A hoe gotta get bomb ass grades if ya want a bomb ass career and to be successful af. So letâs get itâš
1. Write out your notes. Have two notebooks: one for when youâre in class (this one can be messy) and one for at home (this one is the neater one, for color coding, formatting, and all that organizational jazz). Writing things out is proven to enhance memorization 7X more than just reading is.
2. Have a go-to format for your notes. Numbering, bullet points, whatever floats your boat.
3. Type out your notes. I use Google Drive, because it automatically saves all your shit, and you can access your notes via your Google account literally anywhere. Typing out your notes does the same thing writing them out does, as far as helping you review the material.
4. Use Quizlet. Quizlet is a free flashcard website/app that allows you to type in all of your flashcards and definitions, and gives you review options like matching, testing, flashcard mode, and more. This shit made me my high schools valedictorian, no lie.
5. Keep your old quizzes and tests. Often times, teachers will ask similar questions on finals.
6. For math-based subjects, always always always show your work in your notes. I try to explain each step for a math problem in the margins of my notes, and generalize how to do each problem at the end.
7. Do practice problems consistently.
8. For my college hoes: never take an 8 am class. You think you can do it because you did it for high school, but I promise you will regret it. If thereâs no avoiding the 8 am lecture, bring coffee and skip any makeup/hair that day. Sleep is too important.
9. Make flashcards. The night before my exams, I like to try and fit everything I need to know for a specific chapter/topic onto one flashcard, in order to weed out main ideas.
10. For essays, easybib.com is amazing with free citations to avoid any plaigiarism or incorrect bibliographies.
11. Rentđyourđtextbooksđ. Unless your teacher specifically requires you BUY it, you likely wonât need the actual textbook. Buying access codes for the book online is hundreds of dollars cheaper.
12. If you do get your textbooks, a lot of them have chapter summaries at the end of each chapter. Be sure to write out/type out/review those summaries.
13. For science labs, if you are allowed, take pictures of any models or slides you need to know for your exams. Pretty much all labs wonât let you take pictures of cadavers or animal dissections, but plastic models and microscope slides should be fine.
14. If you have a question, ASK YOUR TEACHER. It is better to look stupid in class and get your clarification, than to look stupid when you get your exam back and actually have it count against your grade.
15. Do study groups. I have two nursing friends in some of the same classes as me, and weâd always meet up before exams to go over the material. We would bring dry erase markers and map out shit in empty classrooms, taking turns explaining shit to each other until we nailed it.
16. Try to teach the material. Like I said in #15, study groups are great for this. By teaching the material out loud, you are subconsciously reviewing it yourself. This is a HUGE help.
17. Take breaks. You cannot exhaust yourself and expect to still recall anything you learned.
18. I know everyone does this and thereâs no avoiding it sometimes, but DO NOT CRAM. Gradual learning is most effective.
19. Have one day every week where you donât do any schoolwork. You need time to reboot.
20. Use your phoneâs calendar/task checklist app for all major assignments, due dates, exam dates, study plans, appointments, etc. Set reminders as needed.
21. Charge your phone in another room while studying. No distractions.
22. Rainymood.com is a free website that plays a 30 minute loop of rain sounds. It helps me focus like nothing else, especially in my loud ass household, and every time the loop stops and replays, I know to take a break between 30 minute study sessions.
23. Feel distracted at home when studying? Try studying in a library, cafe, or even at school. I find that going somewhere else to study actually forces me to pay attention to what Iâm doing, for some reason.
24. Reward yourself for good grades. Buy yourself a slice of pizza or a new highlight, have a netflix marathon, go to a party, or take a nap. Whatever conveys a job well done, do it. Itâll make all that studying feel that much greater when itâs over, and youâll have a goal to work towards.
25. Sit in the front of the classroom as often as possible. Youâll be forced to pay attention, be able to actually see the board, hear the instructor better, and youâre more likely to have your questions answered quickly because your teacher will actually see your hand go up.
26. Caffeinate. I prefer tea because itâs healthier, but coffee works too. Ya girl is NOT a morning person, but my morning tea at least helps me pay attention during earlier classes.
27. Keep all of your school shit organized, together, and labelled.
28. Do NOT skip a class just because youâre lazy or donât feel like going. The temptation is real sometimes, but a hoes gonna be pissed when ya see your participation average decline.
29. This may just be a psychological thing, but I love to use the same colored/brand of pen for all of my notes/assignments/tests. It just makes everything seem more uniform, and Iâm able to recall information better.
30. Trouble taking tests? For any multiple choice question, read the question and try to answer it first without reading any of the options. If your answer doesnât match the options, then use process of elimination to find the best answer. For true/false questions, write out justifications for each answer (you can also do this for multiple choice). Youâll be acing your exams in no time.
31. Chewing gum during class/studying, and chewing that same flavor gum during the exam, has been scientifically proven to boost your memory recall.
32. Literally any time you have the opportunity to do extra credit, DO IT. Cherish that shit.
33. If you arenât doing so hot in a particular class (literally any math class for me lol), schedule a private meeting with your professor and go over test questions you missed, or topics you didnât get. If you know your professor is a flop, or canât get an appointment, meet with a tutor or another professor of that same subject. Sometimes another voice can shed new light on a difficult topic.
34. For essays, readable.io critiques your writing for free based on readability, grade level, formality, tone, grammatical errors, etc. Seriously a life saver.
35. Also thesaurus.com is ya bff for fancier words/phrases to make your writing more eloquent
36. Always make an outline for every essay or project to organize what you want to say. This will keep you on track, and help you work around any quotes or sources in you writing to make sure your writing is hella organized.
Thatâs all I can think of for now, please please please feel free to add and share. Enjoy those 4.0âs, hoesđ
Need to take a nap? Use this guide to help you decide how long you should rest! Just be sure to avoid the âbad napâ!
back to school
i know, i know, iâm a little bit early. itâs all good, i have anxiety, i plan ahead constantly. i figured iâd share some of my plans to prepare myself for heading back to school.
1. fix your sleep schedule
for school i wake up at 6:30, in the summer i wake up at 12. and recently i decided to fuck that up even more by pulling an all-nighter and just, in general, screwing up my sleep schedule. iâll need about a month to fix all this damage, but in general, you should start reacquainting yourself with your school schedule about two weeks before you have to head back.
2. figure out your note keeping system
iâm switching things up this year, and i wonât be using the binder system iâve had all throughout high school. itâs simply to heavy for my walk to and from school. instead, iâll be using a filing folder, and keeping loose leaf paper, as well as the weekâs lessons in there, and once the week is over, iâll transfer my notes to the binder system at home, which should limit the weight i carry. also, thisâll force me to have better organization, and hopefully make weekly review easier. just as a rule of thumb, refreshing your note keeping system is something you should do annually, at the start of a new year or even before a new semester; you know whatâs been working and what hasnât been.
3. gather breakfast ideas
i have about ten minutes scheduled in my morning routine during the school year for breakfast. and about five of those minutes are spent figuring out what to eat. i want to gather simple breakfast ideas that i can test out now, so i donât waste time deciding what to eat. this just, in general, makes mornings less of a hassle and can help make sure youâre getting a good start to the day.
4. take stock of your supplies
i need a lunchbag and highlighters, my previous ones are no longer able to function, so i need to replace them. i donât, however, need new pencils, i have plenty. doing an inventory check can really help prevent buying duplicates of something you thought you didnât have.
5. create achievable goals
this year is my final year of high school, and then iâm off to university, most of my goals centre around applications and just graduating. but there are other things i know i need to do. embracing study habits for one. iâm hoping to do so by staying in the library after school instead of walking home right away because i know i canât get work done as effectively at home. iâll also be doing a review for exams all throughout the year, instead of the day before, by creating flashcards and mindmaps for each days lesson. set a general goal, then add the steps youâll need to take to achieve it.
6. check your courses
iâm dropping out of physics because i donât need to be taking it and it will give me a spare instead of a full course load. i need to talk to my guidance counsellor before school starts because of it. as well, i like to make sure iâm in the correct classes and that my schedule is as balanced as possible. some schools may not allow this for regular students, mine does. make sure youâre taking what you need to take and what will allow you to succeed.
7. put dates in your planner
my school offers a tentative list of events going on through the year, with set exam and break times. i like to keep track of these, and setting them in my planner makes it easier to see how my year will play out. if your school doesnât offer this, check out past years scheduling so that you have a general feel for how your year will go.
these are just some of the things iâm doing to ensure this year goes smoothly for me. let me know what yâall are doing too!
âAugust 6, 2018â
I visited the cutest journal & stationary shop in D.C. and I bought a few washi tapes, Muji pens, and a pastel blue LeuchtturmâŠThere was even a bullet journal on display! The color coordination alone had me shook âĄ
Real talk tips for studying
1. Get up early.
I know, itâs easier said than done. But it is going to be hard for the first 15-20 minutes, maybe even the first hour, but make yourself some coffee, and get the fuck out of that bed.
2. Do 3 useful things right after you get up.
This doesnât have to be âcram one lessonâ or âtake 500 pages of notesâ. No. Brush your teeth, make yourself something nice to drink, comb your hair. Wash your face. Literally whatever you find useful, do it. It may take 10 minutes, but you will feel instantly better when you see youâve done something.
3. Organize your study space.
I donât mean organize all your highlighters by color. I mean arrange everything so it is within your reach. That means when you sit down to finally study, there wonât be any need for you to get up and get something.
4. Take breaks.
Itâs easy to start scrolling through instagram, or facebook when you sit by a 200 page book. Trust me on this. But set an alarm when you plan on taking a break. Make the break your instagram time, or facebook time, or just chill time. Whatever you do, organize your time so you donât leave anything out.
5. Divide your shit.
So you have a 300 page chapter to read. Or a 30 page paper to write. Divide it into smaller parts. For example, I will read through the first 30 pages and then take a break. Repeat. Or, I will write 3 pages and then relax. Repeat. Literally whatever shit you have, divide it into smaller chunks and then just tackle the chunks.
6. Donât listen to music with lyrics.
There are a ton of âstudy musicâ or âmotivational musicâ playlists on Youtube. Blast that. That way, you wonât find yourself mouthing the perfect lyrics to Shape of you, and not knowing shit about what youâve been reading. Iâve been there one too many times and itâs just wasting time.
7. Donât feel bad about not responding to texts, or not hanging out with friends.
There is time to study and time to play. No between. By all means you should go out and have fun. But your work time can only be your work time. That text can wait, that coffee date can wait. During the break you will have more than enough time to catch up. And your friends should understand that, after all, this is important to you so it should be for them too.
8. Drink water! ! !
This is the most used tip, but trust me, you get tired much quicker if youâre not hydrated. Get a nice ass bottle of water and fill that shit up. Everytime you finish a paragraph take a sip. (At least!)
9. Donât worry too much.
Iâve lost countless hours by panicking and trying to reason with myself why I should just quit. And let me tell you, itâs very easy to get stuck in that vicious circle. But when you begin to worry, take a deep breath, drink some water and just do. Read that sentence. Write the opening line to your paper. Underline that unknown word. Just do. It will not go in vain. No effort is ever useless.
10. Relax.
You are not the first one to have trouble with this. You are not the only one struggling with this material. But you can do it. It is possible. In 10 years you wonât remember that godawful task or chapter. But you will remember taking shit into your hands. And that feeling when you accomplish your goal is going to be worth all the while.
Thatâs about it, worked for me. Just be real with yourself. Good luck and may the odds be ever in you favor!
