alright so let me tell you about Shadowwings >:)

They’re a tribe of pitch black dragons with a few vibrant accents, who are covered in a flammable oil akin to ink or gasoline. Their horns and back fins are always colored the same color as their accent(s), and sometimes have markings that show through the oil.

They’re a fire breathing tribe, so their scales evolved to be extremely heat and fire resistant in case they accidentally get set on fire by another Shadowwing.

They’re rumored to have originated from a dragon who was cursed by an animus, who passed the curse down to their dragonets, but no one truly knows. Their kingdom is also said to be enchanted, as dragons born in the kingdom, regardless of whether or not their parents are Shadowwings, always hatch as Shadowwings.

Despite this, the tribe is not very magically inclined, and there have only been a few animus Shadowwings recorded in their history.

The kingdom of the Shadowwings is very strange and unnatural. The land is mostly monochrome and dark, with few animals and plants having bright accent colors. Trees grow unnaturally tall, gnarled, and twisted. Mountains break into floating islands at the peaks, held together by roots twisted together. The sky is pitch black, and the sun and moon are in a constant reddish-pink eclipse. It’d be off putting to any other tribe, but not to Shadowwings.
