When you're in the middle of a traumatizing FFXIV MSQ cutscene but you forgot that you queued up for a groovy ass dungeon.

why doesn't taylor swift write a song about how badass castlevania symphony of the night is
on the note of persona 3
this was evil to do and is still fairly inaccurate in terms of instrumentation, plus i still dont have vocals
i did what i could but oh my god the drums & synths kicked my ass here
instruments are listed below:
kinda going insane doing research into persona 3 drums rn i have most of what i want down when it comes to production, but GOD what the hell is the kick layered under the rim click and whats the damn 909 open hi-hat in burn my dread gahhh
the riser is also really evil because it seems to be an electric piano
I DONT EVEN WANT TO COVER BURN MY DREAD, I WANT TO COVER FULL MOON FULL LIFE IN THE PS2 STYLE BUT TO DO THAT I NEED TO FIND BURN MY DREAD INSTRUMENTS RAHHH
first we a then we ba
ok so quick info dump on guilty gear guitar tones
ok so the guitarists who've contributed to the series are as follows with their games listed next to them
shotaro ohata - guilty gear (ps1) tohru iwao - guilty gear x (dreamcast) to guilty gear xx ac +r yoshihiro kusano - guilty gear isuka to guilty gear 2 overture toshihiro kajihara - blazblue continuum shift to guilty gear strive (honorable mention) ryo kozuka - rhythm guitar during iwao era live shows as part of A.S.H.
not much known about shotaro atm, though he was part of yellow metal orchestra and has a website i need to dig
just made some major findings about iwao through the old A.S.H. website. it says he uses a Fender Stratocaster & a custom Telecaster, along with a Gibson Les Paul, and ESP original we actually have a photos of him playing through a marshall amp & cab
bonuses, we have photos of the X2 drummer yasuhiro umezawa, the bassist shinji matsumoto, and some of the rig that koichi seiyama used while producing for it
yoshihiro only really photos of his modern rigs, showing off his marshall stuff as well so uhh
TOSHIHIRO THOUGH, WE HAVE BASICALLY ALL OF HIS RIG DOWN im not gonna go too in detail because of that, just check his twitter honestly but he does use a marsha by friedman
FURTHER INFO ON GGXX - Korg CX-3 is the keyboard spotted during GGXX era - Panasonic SV-3700 Professional Digital Audio Tape Deck can also be spotted in the same room as the CX-3 - yes thats a minimoog everyone knows the minimoog - THEY USED A XV-5080 - oh and an sk-88

I FUCKED UP AND DID THE THING I SAID I'D ACCIDENTALLY DO AND PUT A VENT POST HERE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
as part of 'getting good' at music i started doing some research into mick gordon's methods of sound design, and i think i got really close recently when i took an image of the lesbian flag (because it was one of the images i happened to have saved in my downloads folder), turnt it into an oscillator using a stock plugin called beepmap, then ran it through the following chain
such produced this sound (older version of the chain used here so not the exact sound)
the exact sound can be heard in this file along with another mick gordon style synth patch i made
