shimizu feels her grin spread wider, but covers it with a hand ( she forgets she’s in public sometimes, & doesn’t want to draw attention to herself by being an object of CURIOSITY : not only akemi, but perhaps even the people around her on the train would begin to wonder why she’s smiling so fondly at her phone ). of course, she should have expected that shunpei would be prepared at a moment’s notice, though she regrets not warning him beforehand. undoubtedly, he can handle her sister, but … it does take quite a lot of strength. he must be descended from samurai…
ah. she can tell by the shifting in the seat next to her that akemi’s UNREST is likely due to the fact that they’re nearing the station. she hardly slept on this trip, & shimizu had to struggle to keep herself awake in order to act as a chaperone. hopefully, shunpei’s perfect place also has a few park benches to rest on, & he’ll take over watching her sister to let her recuperate from travel. her fingers glide seamlessly over the keys of her phone, & she types out a final warning message to him :
[ TXT : shunpei ] : the train is about to stop soon. it should only be a minute or two, but i have to grab the luggage now …
[ TXT : shunpei ] : this is your last chance to find a disguise for yourself.
[ TXT : shunpei ] : we’ll meet you as soon as we can get off the platform ?
[ TXT : shimizu ] : haha i don´t think a disguise would work on akemi-chan
[ TXT : shimizu ] : yeah, i´m waiting.
[ TXT : shimizu ] : see you two soon :)
shunpei pockets the phone, leaving his hands buried deep inside the pockets of his trousers as he lets his gaze wander across the platform not bothering to conceal the EASY smile on his lips.
the day´s not quite over yet, a few hours of sunshine left which makes a perfect setting for a quick visit to the park ; it´s nothing big or fancy, a few patches of green where he used to play soccer together with the neighbors kids and a small playground - it´s not too far from his home though and it should be more than enough for akemi to burn all the access energy from the long ride.
true to shimizus word the numbers on the destination board are steadily counting down now, announcing the arrival of the train together with the station worker asking the people people to step back and mind the gap as the doors open ;; it´s almost laughingly easy to spot the two siblings among all the people, practically glowing between the dull grey of strangers - his grin growing wider when they spot him in return, hand raised in a small wave.
