i’m not a particularly skilled illustrator but i wanted to try my hand at researching and putting together a more grounded gerudo design! i might do more of these that highlight different cultures, but to start, here is a palestinian-inspired gerudo! the pattern on the sleeves is inspired by tatreez, the palestinian embroidery tradition, and the design is made up of the symbols from breath of the wild’s seven heroines quest!

if anyone sees this post and feels inspired, i’d love to see other takes on the gerudo! a project like this is both an expression of love for the series and a refutation of the claim that people criticizing orientalism in media are in some way opposed to depictions of other cultures.
