sometimes i forget that grian has been involved in some WILD youtube rp series in the past because every once in a while, i watch giggs dnd and go "man, he's pretty good at getting into character as max, that's impressive for a new dnd player!" and then i remember that he has, in fact, played these games before

hey guys so remember how max blunder said he was scared of the dark in session 4 of giggs dnd

what if mister wizard makes his clothes glow with that spell because he knows that max is afraid of the dark (although max doesn't want to ACTUALLY admit it) and wants to make sure that he'll have a source of light no matter what whenever they go somewhere dark

ALT Hermit: Watcher Grian

Im late again BUT in my defense i worked really hard on this one. i want to turn this into a finished piece but that will have to wait until after the challenge is over because i am farr to busy atm.

yes yes it is a very basic choice but Watcher Grian holds a very special place in my heart ok? I love him sososo dearly you dont understand (/hj)

while i made this i had "doesnt matter" by annebelle dinda looping in my head so the title of this is "Atleast a hundred better lives." as in, literally every universe is better than one where Grian becomes a Watcher no matter what else happens. because i hate him.

the lighting was really fun to do on this piece though his arm gave me alot of trouble. i think it turned out nicely!

I'm watching GIGS DND Session 3 in preparation for the stream tomorrow and *why* did Max whisper that he's scared of the dark and Mr Wizard nod?? Tfw your friend is scared of the dark so you cast a light spell on him whenever you encounter it so that he doesn't have to be in it

and boy. is there a lot to unpack with mr wizard. this session was kinda reshaping my view on his age + how long it's been since the session 2 flashback, because Oh! he's still getting recognized in this city (through a name other than presto as well even?), his shop is still there sort of in use, he's worried about old disputes still being relevant. so i thought oh? maybe it's not been thaaat long and he is in fact fairly young still? and then i picked up. when mr wizard first walks into the shop, pix describes it as "last time you were here was to you a long time ago", fairly emphasizing that to you! so. what is going on here. traveled back and forth in time............. spent a while in a realm where time works differently............... which is often said to be a trait of the fae realm.................

hehehe (rubs hands together) ok so in ancient rome there was the custom of putting people's gravestones and memorials on the side of paths and roads (even if that wasn't exactly the place where they'd died). this was because that way, when travelers walked down that path, they'd stop and read that person's name. and then, just for one brief moment, the deceased would be remembered, and thus "come back to life" in a way. people would not truly die, as long as they weren't forgotten.

but, tied to this tradition, there was also a particular special punishment called damnatio memoriae: damned to be forgotten. when sentenced to that, every proof of that person being alive would be erased, including scratching their name out of gravestones and memorials. this is a fun fact i like to tell when giving someone the ol touristic tour of the historic area of my capital city, bc in certain ancient buildings you can see that they straight up used these gravestones of the damned as bricks to build other things lol and the names are indeed illegible, but in a way i'd say they are maybe still remembered? who knows, but i certainly do point them out every time!

mr wizard, by invoking the name of windyndale at every chance he gets, is in a way making sure the village is remembered. that other people know that it existed, and that it won't ever truly disappear, by being forgotten. which is ironic, considering he himself does not have a name of his own to be remembered by.
