Exploration (Kazuko, Sachi, Hideaki)

Sachi hugged Kazuko, still hanging on his back. She looked around the market, shrugging her shoulders and patting Kazuko’s hair down again.

"Wherever Kazuko goes, I go! Soooo…choose wisely, Kazuko! I mean, that shouldn’t be too hard, right? Someone as big as you could smell food like a dog! Haha!"

Kazuko howled like a wolf. “Fresh meat! Now that we’re getting down to business,” he said. “And we’re gonna need fruits and vegetables. Probably three or seven pounds of those for all the kids, and myself.” He walked around the store. “We’re gonna need a buggy or something to carry all this, and we’re gonna have to get it cooked.”

His stomach rumbled. “Preferably sooner rather than later.”

Hideaki allowed the two hungry students carry on their merry way. He was quite certain the two of them woulld be able to rack down any food the group could possibly need. Especially given their appetite.

Hideaki on the other hand began to search down the lanes for other items. If they were in a city by themselves certain amenities would prove necessary, particularly first aid.

The councilman peered up and down the lanes. Finding  variety of things from candy bars, to greeting cards, to hygiene products, and  even cosmetics. Finally, he stopped in front of an aisle containing several boxes of bandages. Granted this wasn’t much in the way of first aid but at least it was something. He grabbed a couple boxes and placed them in his pocket and continued on his way.

After a while of searching, a loud scream could be heard, the scream coming from Sachi. Poor Kazuko having his ears right next to Sachi as she let out the annoyingly loud scream.

"O-OH MY GOSH! OHMYGOSH! L-LIMITED EDITION CHOCOLATE ALMOND CRUSH POCKYS!?"

She hopped off of Kazuko’s back, sprinting over to the shelf they were on. She grabbed at one of the shiny golden boxes in awe, slowly tearing away the front and opening the packets up, holding one of the chocolate almond pockys in front of her face.

"I-I can’t believe it…it’s true! They really do exist!!"

Kazuko watched her go away and rolled his eyes. "Weirdo." He went over to the fruits and vegetables and started loading up on all the essentials.

"Huh…so you’re not the power control freak I thought you would be! Well, that’s good to know, now I can stop wondering!"

Sachi laughed a bit, looking around in the supermarket. It didn’t look like anyone has been there, maybe they were first? Or maybe they were beaten by the other groups, seeing as the place looked depleted on first glance.

"Argh…the other groups better not have stolen our idea to come here first! We were the ones who were supposed to have the most, or all the food, that was the plan! I mean, do you guys see anything worth taking, because even from here it doesn’t look very promising.."

"I don’t think we need all the food," Kazuko said. "Regardless, I don’t know how long we’re gonna be here so we might as well ration it I guess. Think we should split up and each go grab something?"

Hideaki nodded at the suggestion, “That sounds like a rather straight forward plan,” he replied, keeping a smile along his face. “Although this isn’t just a hunt for food, it’s a search as well. Keep your eyes open for anything of importance you find inside, food or not, understood?”

Sachi continued to pat on Kazuko’s hair, smiling and enjoying the ride. After a while of walking, she looked at Hideaki, a bit confused.

"Waaait…how come you’re not leading? You seemed like you wanted to be a leader before we left, why aren’t you acting like that now?"

"Because I’m hungry," Kazuko said bitterly. "And tired. Plus, how do you know I’m not leading this anyway and you guys aren’t just the ones following?" he stepped up onto the curb, purposely almost dropping Sachi. He strolled into the supermarket.

The councilman chuckled at the fireman’s response, “I think  you’re a bit mistaken friend. I believe she was speaking to me,” he replied placing his hands in his coat pocket, turning his attention to Sachi.

"I am leading, but there’s a lot to explore here and we have plenty of ground to cover. I figure one of you has a better sense of direction than myself,  so I figure you will know where we should explore first," he replied. "After all, Kazuko is a fireman and you have quite the intuition. I trust your judgement."

"Huh…so you’re not the power control freak I thought you would be! Well, that’s good to know, now I can stop wondering!"

Sachi looked around for a good bit, plants plant and more plants. If you look to the left, plants, to the right, bigger plants. And if you go forward, well, if you haven’t caught on by now, PLANTS! She was a bit disappointed by the lack of variation, sure there were buildings, but they seemed worthless due to the plants taking them over.

"I’ll leave where we go to Kazuko! Wherever he goes, I have to go, plus…nothing looks promising, it’s all plants!"

Kazuko’s eyes landed on the supermarket and his mouth started watering. “I’m thinking supermarket. I’m not joking, really hungry over here.” He went trotting for the supermarket.

Hideaki looked over the the fireman who appeared to already be ambling in the direction of a supermarket. Hideaki was more than willing to explore but he wasn’t certain that there would be much for fresh food anywhere in this area. He shrugged and carried on along with the two of them a=on their way to the supermarket.

Sachi continued to pat on Kazuko’s hair, smiling and enjoying the ride. After a while of walking, she looked at Hideaki, a bit confused.

Sachi patted Kazuko’s head, patting his spikey down with a smile. She pointed forward, holding on to Kazuko with her other hand.

"Onward! Let’s explore more than anyone else can!…Oh, and lets find some snacks! Cause…I want some, plus, we can have the most food out of the whole group and then have the advantage!"

"Now THAT I agree with," Kazuko said. "I’m starving, onwards you guys!"

The councilman chuckled. He certainly was feeling rather hungry himself, but the fact that these two seemed to be so fixated on the idea of finding food was rather amusing to Hideaki.

He moved past the two students and pushed the door open, revealing the lonely city that lied beyond it. The city streets and buildings were all covered in overgrowth and it was hardly believable that anything could still be living there.

Nonetheless, Hideaki turned to his classmates, “Well, I’ll leave it up to you two, which direction do you think we should go first?”

Sachi waved to Kazuko and smiles, still holding onto Saito with one arm. After a while of looking between the both of them, she detached from Saito’s arm and onto Kazuko’s.

"Kazuko~! You said if we went outside, you’d carry me! So, I’m making you keep your word!"

"Whatever," Kazuko said as he shed his jacket. He tied it around his waist and hoisted Sachi onto his back. "There, I held up my end of my promise, we ready to go yet?"

The councilman willingly let the young girl leave his arm, much to his relief. He was certain if the girl clung to him much longer he would become far more uncomfortable than he already was. 

Hideaki looked away from the two for a moment and peered beyond them at the door, seemingly a bit eager to continue with the search.

"Well then, shall we all be going then?"

Sachi patted Kazuko’s head, patting his spikey down with a smile. She pointed forward, holding on to Kazuko with her other hand.

Kazuko stared at the door of the hospital while it sat there…mocking him with it’s door silentness. “I can’t stay in here anymore,” he proclaimed loudly. “We’ve GOT to go explore the rest of this hospital…but it’s not smart to go alone. Anyone brave enough to join me?”

Hideaki began to approach the hospital door along with Sachi who still clung to his arm. He was rather surprised to see the big burly SHSL Fireman standing at the exit, seemingly ready to break through.

"Were you planning on going outside to search?" the councilman inquired, " If so, we wouldn’t mind tagging along with you if that’s alright."

Sachi waved to Kazuko and smiles, still holding onto Saito with one arm. After a while of looking between the both of them, she detached from Saito’s arm and onto Kazuko’s.

He flinched at the initial reaction of his, but instead ended up bewildered. Not sure how to react, he stood there silent with eyes fully alert before asking, “H-Hey, um, before you go do something that I’m sure is important— who are you?” He hoped he wasn’t being impudent by asking.

"Who am I? I am Kazuko Katsuo! SHSL Firefighter!"

"Well if I get out I’ll probably eat, sleep, work out and sleep some more. I’ll figure out where we are eventually and lead us to safety, just give me a little time. "

"Gotcha! But I’m gonna try and find more people I can really connect with first." She gave a little wave and a grin before turning away.

"I’ll see you later, Katsuo-kun!"

Kazuko frowned. This guy was being a real downer. “Whatever, I tried to be friendly, now I’m just gonna be mean.”

At least he was admitting he had no intent of remaining nice. The hothead started yelling but at this point Nao zoned out. He didn’t have the patience to deal with someone yelling at him, not in this situation. He leapt off the bed, running out into the corridor and hiding, waiting for Kazuko to leave his bedside.

Kazuko was not impressed. This kid needed a serious attitude adjustment, either by an ass kicking or by getting a teddy bear.
