Ceremonial Sword

Dated: late 19th/early 20th century

Culture: American

Measurements:  overall length 88 cm (34-½ inches); width 13.5 cm (5-¼ inches)

The sword has an ivory fuse engraved on two sides, chiselled silvered brass hilt and a feathered helmet pummel. The guard comes with a small chain and two enamelled pierced cross quillions. The body bow features a helmet motif with motto, while the double-edge blade is engraved and gilt along 2/3 on one side with names. The sword has a nickeled engraved scabbard with three chiselled silvered and enamelled accessories.

Pretty medieval manuscript of the day is another lovely illustration in grisaille, shades of grey, but highlighted with blues and gilding. Really lovely!
