Lydinyk thought that might be the case. He needed to know this, but pushing for the answer wasn’t the right way to go about it. Instead, he took a shot in the dark.

"I don’t expect you to answer this, but… Does it have anything to do with how you claimed that somebody else hanged the body?"

He didn’t think that was it.

"I’m just trying to figure out what I need to know here to help. If there’s anything you can tell me, even if it isn’t the whole story, I might be able to try and mend things between you two."

Of course, that would also depend on what Nelly told him when he would end up talking to her. But for now, he would do his best to remain unbiased. Did he really want to mend things? Of course. If Nelly was upset, he wanted to make sure that he got things worked out…

"Might…"

He said again more quietly to himself.

She blinked down at him, suddenly stopping her crying in what seemed to be shock.

"Oh no, of course not. That was just a theory, I have no idea what happened."

She paused for a second, messing with the hem of her pajama shorts.

"It was something totally unrelated, I just happened to find out before the trial and I kept it secret during it."

She waved off his guess.

Ohhhh boy. This wasn’t good. He’d have to find Nelly later and fix this, but for now he didn’t know how. He sighed. Lydinyk needed to know exactly what happened.

"Okay, okay~ It’s going to be okay."

He made his voice sound gentle as he spoke to her from where he stood.

"I’m going to try and fix this, but I’m going to need you to tell me exactly what happened. Okay?~"

Despite the sound of his voice, deep down he could tell. He was angry. Why? He hadn’t figured that out yet. But if he let any of that show, he wouldn’t be able to help. He already knew that he wasn’t likely to like what Reiri would tell him… If she even told him that was. So he stayed quiet. And waited.

Reiri sniffed, wiping away a few tears again in an attempt to calm herself, unfortunately though this was something even she couldn't ignore.

"I told her something...and I probably should've told her before the trial..."

She went silent for a second, wiping away the tears that just kept falling.

"I can't tell you what though...I told her so late cause I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, I only told her cause I warned them that I might have to."

Good job Lyd. You made the girl cry. What are you going to do now?

"Wait, wait, wait? No no! Why are you crying??"

What was going on here? Lyd didn’t understand. Nope, not one bit.

"Did something happen? What’s going on? Is it something I should know about?"

So many questions. Lyd. Stop.

She pushed her glasses up on top of her head, wiping away a few of her tears.

"I made her mad, I made her so mad."

She tried to wipe away more tears now, not having too much luck as they just kept streaming down her cheeks.

"I told her something I should've told her a while ago and...and she got so mad, I didn't think she'd get so mad, and-...a-a-and scared, she was so scared."
