It's not just that it's Stan's voice. Its a puppet. Stanley is on the Gravity Fall's version of sesame street.
Stan during the homeless years did a stint of doing commercials, that's canon right? So at some point, he lends his voice to an up and coming TV show, and voices a gruff but kind puppet that teaches kids about basic science stuff, stuff Stan knows lots about, and can relay in a way that is understandable to children (because when they were kids, thats how Ford taught Stan science stuff, excitedly and without too many big words)
The TV show takes off. And more importantly, Stan's Science Segment takes off too.
Not one to ditch an opportunity, Stan starts regularly voicing this puppet character for public broadcast television. He's like a mix of Grover, Bill nye, and oscar the grouch. A grumpy type character with a very gruff voice (Stan isn't doing a voice, he's just smoked since 17) and a twinge of a New Jersey accent.
The segment is "Science Time with Dr Pine" and Stanford Pines, an actual doctor, vehemently despises the show before he ever actually catches an episode.
Everywhere he goes, anytime he introduces himself ANYWHERE its "Dr Pines? Like the puppet?" And it drives him up the wall. Thankfully it seems like there aren't enough children in Gravity Falls to actually care much, so on sheer Principle Ford makes it his mission to never watch that TV show, on purpose.
Unfortunately, during the week when Fiddleford and his son come up to visit, Ford can't help but overhear an episode, with a very specific puppet, with a very specific voice. All it takes is one "High Four!" (The puppets all have four fingers) before the dots connect.
Ford is filled with rage. Not only is his brother opening mocking him on twice a week on TV, but people eat it up!
Sure the shows content is very good and Stan throughly explains conplex science concepts in a way that doesn't talk down to children, nor make them feel stupid, but still! He's using their name, even adding on a Dr Pines, so clearly this is all a ploy to get back at Stanford.
Stanford very quickly becomes the shows #1 enemy, and vows to track Stan down somehow, just to yell at him in person. He probably actually buys tickets to a live show (Fiddleford and Tate are going as a part of Tates birthday because the kid likes the show so much) all so he can confront Stan.
Im not exactly sure how this AU would end, but I'm imagining Ford leaping across the set desk that Stan is puppeteering behind and strangling the puppet in front of an audience in pure rage
