Maintenance Butternut squash soup simple Thanksgiving
Often older people do when making a dish for the holidays and squash soup is no exception. For some reason people think you have to add all these ingredients or spices to change the taste and usually do until the taste of the wonderful Butternut squash is lost among all the others. I have a recipe that is simple and improves the flavor of the squash, not power with so many other flavors. There are a few simple changes and decorating options, but the goal remains to reach out to remain true to the rich flavor of the pumpkin harvest itself.Ingredients1 pumpkin walnut-sized 2 ½ - 3 pounds (half, peeled, seeded) 1 ½ ½ tablespoons tablespoons olive butter1 oil1 small onion ½ "dice (about 1 cup) 4 cups chicken broth, low sodium ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ cup heavy pepperPreheat creamfreshly black earth oven to 400 and position oven rack in the center. Spread 1 tablespoon olive oil the cut side of squash and place cut side down on a baking sheet. You want to bake the squash until very soft and has a deep caramel color, so check it. Meanwhile, heat the remaining ½ tablespoon oil and 1 ½ tablespoon butter in a saucepan over medium heat. When butter stops foaming add the onion and cook stirring frequently until translucent and soft, about 5 minutes. Take the squash from oven and let cool completely. Once cool scoop the meat, along with the onion and 1 cup of broth and add to food processor. puree until smooth, about 1 minute. Transfer the puree to the pot and add the remaining broth and salt. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Adjust heat to maintain a simmer and cook for 10 minutes to blend flavors. Finally, add the cream and cook until hot. Taste for seasoning and add salt freshly ground black pepper if necessary. Serve immediately. Makes 4-6 servings.Red VariationCut pepper red bell pepper into 1 ½ "strips and brush with oil. Place on baking sheet the same with the squash skin side down. When cold skin strips and place in food processor along with squash and Decorate onion.Mushroom VariationSlice 12 oz oyster, shitake or crimini mushrooms (or any combination of the three) in ½ "strips. Sauté in a tablespoon of butter each, until the olive oil over medium heat lightly browned. Be sure to season carefully with salt and pepper. Distribute evenly over soup bowls just before serving. My family is not big on pumpkin, as a rule, but this dish is always welcome, even my pickiest diner. I hope you give it a try and enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Picking winners for the Super Bowl
The road to the Super Bowl to stay in Detroit, and there are only four days left until the Pittsburgh Steelers square off against the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams took very different paths to make it to the last game of the season. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) struggled early in the season but made a relentless run at the end of the season to squeak into the playoffs with a wild card spot. With three straight road games in the playoffs, they knocked off Cinncinati Bengals, heavily favored Indiannapolis Colts and Denver Broncos to advance to their sixth Super appearance in franchise history. Steelers plan on getting another Vince Lombardi Trophy back to Pittsburgh this weekend. Their opponent is the Seattle Seahawks, the most unknown and underrated team in the NFL. Unlike their Super Bowl opponents, Seattle steamrolled through the NFC with an outstanding 13-3 record. They had Homefield advantage of arguably the loudest stadium in the NFL, Quest Field. The Seahawks won their first game since 1984 when they survived against a very tough Washington Redskins team to advance to the NFC Championship Game with the Carolina Panthers. Carolina was no match for Seattle as they were completely destroyed, 34-14, giving Seattle its first Super Bowl trip in franchise history. It is a mystery to me why the Seahawks did not get much respect from the media and while football fans. They look to prove the doubters wrong on Sunday by defeating the Steelers. Each team has its advantages and weaknesses that can be monumental in who holds the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the game. I will break down and compare the two teams and give me insight as to who has the advantage: QUARTERBACKSBen RoethlisbergerThe Second year QB has really become a leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last season, Roethlisberger that was'nt for Winther big games because he could rely on his relentless running game by Jerome "The Bus" Bettis and Deuce Staley to bear most of the load. This year, Big Ben has become more patient as well as precise with his passes. He is a big tough guy who can stay in your pocket without rattled by an intimidating defensive pass rush. He can climb for yardage if necassary, which makes him a very dangerous quarterback. Roethlisberger has above average arm strength that can make the deep throw on the offensive line gives him adequete time. The problem that Ben Roethlisberger faces is inexperience in the big game. There is no doubt that he will be a great quarterback of the future of the Steelers, but the big question is whether he can control his nerves on Sunday against a smart Seattle Seahawk defense. Matt Hasselback Hasselback must be the most underrated Pro Bowl QB in NFL history. The beginning of his career began in roller coaster fashion. Often Matt was criticized by the media for his inconsistent play, but has matured into one of the best QB's in the NFL this season. As Roethlisberger has Hasselback potatoes have never been to the Super Bowl and the big game will be a test of his nerves. NFC Pro Bowl signal caller is a true field general. He has great vision, to quickly scan the field and make big pass plays on a consistent basis. Hasselback potatoes are not known for his climbing abilities, but he has just enough speed to move around in your pocket and get away from blitzing defenders. Advantage: Both QB's have what it takes to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory, but I think the NFL experience will be crucial in this game. I give the green light to Matt Hasselback.RECEIVERSPittsburgh Steeler receiversIf there is a receiver in the NFL who plays the game with the mentality of a defensive player, it's Hines Ward. This six-foot 215 pounder is the best blocking receiver in football, ever punish defenders with key blocks every week. Ward is also one of the most reliable receivers in the league. He is the best teams deep threat and their best chance to do the big yardage in the air. Antwaan Randle El is maturing as a reliable No. 2 receiver. Randle El is the fastest receiver on the team. He is inconsistent and will need to step up big time to help his team on Sunday. The recipient should look out for is Cedric Wilson. In the AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos, Wilson stepped up to make a major contribution to help his team through to the big game. Seattle Seahawks receiver Bobby Ingram and Darrell Jackson are reliable wide receiver for the Seahawks. They both have the ability to get open and stretch the defense for big gains down field. What they lack in size makes large Jerramy Stevens and Joe Jurevicius up. The Seahawks have plenty of targets down field, and Shaun Alexander will be out of the backfield on passing plays. Advantage: Hines Ward will be the most talented receiver on the field in the Super Bowl, but the Seahawks have more than one reliable receiver who can make plays down field. I'm picking them to have a good day. Running back Steelers Running BacksJerome Bettis coming home to Detroit, and will need no introduction when he stepped on the field Sunday. The future Hall of Fame is at the end of a great career, but still has some gas left in the tank to move the body and make the tough yardage. Look for "The Bus" to make the tough yardage in the red zone and wear down the little Seahawk defenders. Willie Parker is a young homerun hitter who can explode if someone gives play. He will likely be the starter over Bettis, but the two backs will definitely share the load. Seahawk Running BacksNo second NFL player ever has rushed more touchdowns (28) in one season than Shaun Alexander. NFL MVP, the rapid movements that make most defenders miss and Seattle will be looking for their star running back to make moves on a physical Pittsburgh Defense. ADVANTAGE: If I had to pick one backfield between the two teams, it would be the Steelers' running backs. Jerome Bettis and Willie Parker is a good combination of speed and power. Shaun Alexander is a great running back, but may have some problems against one of the toughest defense in the NFL. OFFENSIVE line Steelers offensive line coach LineOffensive Russ Grimm - an all time great linemen and one of the "Hogs" for the Washington Redskins in the 80s - has built a line that is built to punish defenders. They move the piles well and open holes big enough for a bus to drive through. Seahawks Offensive Line Walter Jones may be one of the best offensive tackles in the league. He is very athletic for his size and powerful. Not many defenders get pass him. Jones is a critical part of the offense, and he makes all other players besides him better. Advantage: Steelers have the best backfield in my opinion, and one of the biggest reasons is the big guys up front. I like the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line in sunday.DEFENSEPittsburgh SteelersThe ranked # 4 defense is one of the nastiest in the NFL. The attack on every single play with intent to destroy the ball carrier. Their pass rush is one of the best linebacker Joey Porter lead. Porter is a pro bowler with good speed to get in the backfield. He is also a pretty good cover also, jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage. Troy Palamalu is one of the best young defensive backs in the game. He has great speed and change direction. Palamalu is very smart and he can read the opposing QB to make a big play for their team. Did I mention he is a vicious hitter? Seattle Seahawks SeahawksThe has the most sacks in the NFL. They are ranked # 17, but do not be fooled by that number. They are a fast and aggressive unit that is based on speed and finesse to get to the ball carrier. Led by undersized rookie linebacker Lofa Tatupu, the Seahawks fly to the ball, hoping to make turnovers. Advantage: Seahawks are good, but the Steelers defense is better and more of a Mean Streak. FINAL PREDICITON: Pittsburgh Steelers are tougher now, but look for the more experienced Seattle team to open up the passing game with a healthy dose of Shaun Alexander. Do not be surprised if Matt Hasselback Potatoes are the game's MVP. The Seahawks struggle early, but finding a rhythm of their later and win 31-17.

Teaching Special Needs Children: From birth to adulthood
You may know, is from the moment your child is born, he or she is a child with special needs, but many parents do not find out until much later. Even if the child shows slow cognitive abilities, a parent can be denied this in fear of the truth. For your child's sake, even if you remember to visit only for a moment, a doctor, tell him your concerns and have carried out tests, if necessary. The best time to find out that your child is a child with special needs immediately. The sooner you know, the sooner you can help him learn and grow into a contributing part society.Special needs children have various disabilities, who require different training techniques. Begin to know the work with babies, as soon as you about his special needs. The child's doctor can tell you special features such as nerve damage, blindness or loss of hearing, but you know your child best. You and the family are those who can help him the most original in his learning. Interact with strongly the child. Say the name of food, how are they fed baby is kept on which the names of toys, as they are, and read to your child - several times a day - every day. Even if the child can not understand, not his brain somewhere, take some of them, which is important for later years. Parents who enroll the child in school or helping move programs and parents who do not much interact with the child found that training and education are much more difficult. The child should be born almost know that he wants to learn. And he will do as long as they are a part of his everyday life. Make time for your child what you do, like "Now we are running the water for the bathroom" or "Here is how to turn off the water" to tell. Be sure to include lots of informative and careful words and phrases, like "Ouch, hot water" or "boy" / "girl" when entering public restrooms. Even if it is okay to speak at regular rates during the day, teaching time, keep it simple. Instead of saying "burn the stove when you touch it, because it's hot", stick with simple sentences like "no, hot!" Do not fall into the habit of the child lying in the crib or car seat . Move it around the house or apartment during the day. Game for an hour or so left him alone in the crib, then move him to a high chair in front of a window. Point out that through the glass and tell him what are the objects. Do not wait until the baby is fussy and tired of the game. Lunch, then move him next to a blanket on the floor with different types of toys. Place one gum toy, a cuddly toy and a noise in range. Help Baby touch toys, hands or mouth in the face. If the baby is concerned he will not only learn, but he sleeps better and is better behaved than children who stay in one place too often been ignored and as long as they are quiet. As special needs children get older, they often tend to throw tantrums. Most small children, special needs or not, try this as well. Do not give into this match - ever. Just walk out of the room and close the door behind him. back if the baby has come to cry on. That will teach him to throw the match means he will be alone, but with a good attitude means mom or dad is with him here. If the baby does not stop crying within a few minutes to leave him alone, returned to the room and place it on a different position or location. If he does not cry at that point to continue to play with him. If he to throw the fit further to say something like: "Oh, you're still acting up," then leave the room again. After I do this several times, the child is usually to stop crying so that you stay in the room with him. Never allow the child to act out in public. If he does, immediately remove him from the situation, even if this is a big trouble for you. Teach him early is the name of the game when it comes to children with special needs. There are centers that children with special needs education can help long before the public school. These centers work wonders with children who have problems have the task of the bottle is the communication, even in small ways or those who are seemingly impossible to potty train. Experienced professionals can help children colors, numbers, ABC and teach more. In addition, the children get to interact with each other. New friends, even to a special needs child is very important. Check with your local social welfare office for help in finding this type of education for your child at an early age. Some parents give up their child does not learn like a normal child, but that is to have the wrong attitude. Pay for or provide the child with instruction in swimming, skating, painting, computers and the Internet, or just nature. Walks in nature does not cost a cent and is very fun and educational for each child. Take your child, if possible, the YMCA. There, they have classes for preschool age when she had them running, jumping, climbing and sports. These classes are usually designed for parents, the child may help during this learning process. Mothers and fathers to help get the child to tumble, skip, rope skipping and much more. The cost is not exorbitant and the weekly classes are a tremendous learning process for each child. When it's time to can register your child in public school, it is essential to make a difficult decision. If the time and willingness to continue to teach the child who can home school your best option. Public schools often have highly trained teachers who have special needs children with difficult things like getting dressed, tying shoes, help communication and understanding are qualified. The decision is yours, but it is best to at least try the public school system to see if they can help your child so you have a break from the routine the same time. If you want public school can not help as much as you thought, behold, it is still possible to go back on home-schooling methods. Let your child as much as you can. Animals, sports, music, art - you make a list and check it often. Just because your child is not able to do certain things is no reason to keep them from participating. You will find that most people help the child slower development of intellect and will in various ways. If your child is older he or she will be able to find a job on the professional resources in your hometown. The children are often tested on different levels to see if they can do simple tasks again and again, then adjusted from the factories and so for a minimum wage. This gives the child-adult one way to make money and allows him to find a place in life - all his own. One of the special needs of local classroom teacher can give you more information about the area agent, or check with the Department of Social Services for a list of services in the region for special needs adults.
