“Well there’s a lot. But languages is a big one. I love hearing other languages and there’ve been a few that I’ve even bothered to learn. Also laughter. Or more specifically the way people look when they genuinely laugh. For a second you get to see the real them.”

“Yeah, of course, you can come on by whenever you want. You have my number, don’t you? I’ll make it easier on you and just have you give me a call.” It wasn’t like Warwick was a place that received countless venue reservations, but given that it was a small town options weren’t entirely abundant either. Although Sicily never had to worry about if she could use the theater since Dante had a tendency to be biased with those he liked. The blonde’s comment regarding a dance partner could have easily managed another laugh out of the male, but instead was followed by a series of repeated words that all seemed to mean the same thing, “No, no, oh god no. I’d be a horrible dance partner.” Though he didn’t have two left feet per say, Dante couldn’t even imagine himself trying to keep up with someone as professional as Sicily. “Besides, I can’t watch you if I’m dancing with you.” 

“I hate just dropping in on you. I do have your number! I don’t know why I didn’t think about that before.” She ran her fingers through her hair and shrugged. She wasn’t exactly forgetful, but she was so used to there being a proper way to do things that she sometimes forgot friends didn’t always require that. His refusal made her raise an eyebrow and cant her head to the side. “I’m sure you’d be a lovely dance partner, Dante.” As he mentioned watching her she blushed and tilted her head back to laugh. “That’s a fair observation, but the truth is that you watch your partner more when you dance with them. You get to know even the smallest movements.” She teased, bumping his shoulder lightly. “What are you doing right now? I’m thinking about getting breakfast and I’d love it if you’d join me.”

Grace dismissively waved her hand at the other female’s words, a smile settling upon her face. “You really don’t have to apologize, it happens to the best of all,” she nodded. “And I’m fine, really, you seem to have taken the brute force of it.”

Sicily grinned. “It just seems to happen to me a little more than I’d like. You’d think I’d be a bit more graceful.” She told the other with a small laugh. She could feel her anxiety starting to soften and grinned. “I’m a dancer so I can take little stuff like that without a worry. I’m just glad I didn’t hurt you. I’m Sicily, by the way.”

A steaming hazelnut latte was the only thing that got Sydney up early before work. The night before had been something of a blur–she remembered doing a body shot off a girl, blacked out after chatting with her friends, and somehow managed to get back home. She even placed a glass of water on her bedside table. Or that might’ve been her roommate. She only ever drank coffee after one helluva night and if she actually needed to pay attention in work. Most of the time, Syd was goofing off, but there was a deadline to be met by the end of the day. Josh, the barista, had her order ready for take out when the blonde entered and their weekly conversation ensued. Upon leaving, the woman had barely walked ten steps before a foreign entity collided with her. “Oof!” She said, knocked back by the sheer force, but didn’t lose her footing. Unfortunately, there was one casualty–evident by the brown liquid spreading out over the pavement. “Noooooooo!” She exclaimed, albeit slightly dramatically. “Fuck. No I’m aces. The only victim was my koala tea latte. RIP in pieces buddy.” Tearing her attention off the splash, Sydney gazed at the other blonde whose face couldn’t have been more scarlet in the moment. “Are you alright, Speedy Gonzales? Didn’t even see you zipping round that bend.”

Sicily watched with wide eyes at the way the other blonde reacted over teh coffee. She wasn’t one to rely on drinks like that to get her through the day, but she knew others did. However, this one seemed to really need it. “Uh, well I’m really sorry about that. I can get you another one if you’d like? It’s really no trouble.” She pushed herself up from her spot on the ground and laughed a little at the others joke. “I’m fine. I’ve taken tumbles a lot worse than that in my life. I’m really sorry, I was caught up in the music and my brain somehow told me it would be a good idea to spin around the corner.” She told the other a little sheepishly before holding out her hand. “Sicily Vanderbilt.”

Maybe laughter wasn’t the most appropriate reaction to watching the young blonde spin into an oblivious woman walking down the street, but like always, Sicily managed to do it gracefully. Just as the woman had continued on her way, clearly put off by the incident, Dante ventured over to the familiar face, extending his arm out to help her up. “Is the view better from down there?” He teased as he pulled the dancer to her feet. “I don’t think I’ve seen you since your last recital.” Truth be told, Dante had hardly seen her that night since she had to be running an entire show from behind the red curtain. 

Sicily heard the laughter, but still watched the woman walk off. Now that was a perfect start to her day. She looked up at the owner of the hand, a wide smile gracing her face as she took it with a laugh. “Well with you standing there the views not so bad.” She teased back as she landed on her feet and dusted off her pants. “I’ve been incredibly busy at the studio. I’ve actually planned to come see you because I need to rent the theatre for something special.” She replied, canting her head to the side as she looked up at him. Despite knowing each other mainly through business, Sicily did enjoy Dante’s company. “I haven’t seen you either, you know. You’re always welcome in the studio, I need a dance partner you know.”

Declan was too busy talking to the sous-chef about their upcoming menu to be aware of the streets he was walking through. Mostly he let his own muscle memory do the guiding while they thought of new place that will keep Thousand & Two an interesting place to stop by and enjoy a meal. It wasn’t terribly unusual for him to run into people, so the moment a girl crashed against him, Declan had to roll his eyes… at himself. “I like to think I’m tough enough to not get hurt when someone crashes against me.” He muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. “Are you?”

Sicily took a second to study the man and make sure he wasn’t angry before she found herself answering. “Well you’re certainly sturdy enough for it not to hurt.” She replied teasingly, before she pushed herself up from the ground. “I’m fine. I’m a dancer so I’ve taken worse tumbles than that.” She reassured him, leaning down to pick up her phone and check the screen to make sure it was okay. “You sure you aren’t hurt? I really am sorry about that. I don’t usually get so caught up in my dancing.” she chewed on her bottom lip as she waited for his reaction; she didn’t want to upset anyone really.

With music playing in her ears and her eyes focused on her phone, Grace couldn’t possibly have seen the other woman coming straight for her. As the blonde crashed into her, she stumbled back a few steps before regaining her balance, one hand pulling out her earphones and the other reaching out to help the stranger. “I’m fine, don’t worry about me – are you okay?”

Sicily took the outstretched hand and lifted herself to a standing position, wiping any dirt from her pants. “I’m alright, really it’s my fault.” She sighed, pulling out her phone to make sure the screen was intact -- it was. “I’m so sorry. usually I’m much better at paying attention and gauging distance but I got caught up in the song.” She explained, sheepishly. It was just as common as Sicily dancing in public. “You’re sure you’re alright?”

“I know,” She sighed. If she had a penny for every time she heard that, Athena would’ve created her own fortune by now. She knew rich people, that’s where she came from, and there were only few exceptions to the rule. Her client wasn’t one. “That is the problem, darling, they noticed and I didn’t. That’s what I get for letting my assistant do what I should’ve done in the first place. And it’s not like I have time to go get them myself when there’s other clients that also need my attention.”

Sicily raised an eyebrow, she knew that sigh. One with the burden of a family with far more money than manner. “Oh, you have one of those.” The last word was said with a slight distaste and speed as if it burned her mouth. “If that’s the case then the solution is simple, have your assistant pick up the swatches in fabric color and take it to the client. Then she’ll have the reference.” It seemed simple to her, but her father was also one for making sure every plan was foolproof. “Or you could call the place yourself and order it, then have her pick it up.”

lillian had been jogging–a morning routine that she had reluctantly gotten into as she got older in her attempt to be somewhat healthy. today was considered a “good day” as she managed to jog by the bakery without stopping in to get so much as a single donut. of course, she was lovingly thinking about the grande caramel macchiato she was going to get from starbucks when she was sent flying backwards, hitting the ground with a hard thud. she looked up at the assailant, and shook her head, trying to play it off. “erm, no, no, i’m alright, really. has anyone ever told you that you’re a lot stronger than you look?”

Sicily was beyond embarrassed. Usually she was so good at paying attention to where she was going; as a dancer it was imperative. Looking at the other woman she pushed herself up from the ground and offered a helping hand. “I’m glad you’re alright. I uh..’ She blushed harder laughing a little. “I hear that a lot, but it’s really only because I have dancer’s strength.” She told the other, cocking her head to the side. “Are you sure you’re alright? I feel like I should at least buy you a coffee for this.”

“And I’m gonna get down.” Sicily sang as she danced along the street, going back and forth between humming and singing out loud. It was a common occurrence  for her to be seen walking down the street at any given time with her earphones in her ears and her body moving along to the beat. Usually she was more cautious around corners, but she spun just as she was turning it and bumped into someone, losing her balance and tumbling to the pavement. “Oh! Sorry! So so sorry! You aren’t hurt right?” She asked, her face heating up with a blush as she tugged her bottom lip between her teeth.

“I was not afraid.” Dodger insisted, an almost childish quality to her insistence — a clear lie. “I just prefer spiders when they aren’t invading my shop and overtaking my flowers. Can you imagine what would’ve happened if it had decided to make an appearance after delivery? ‘I know you asked for petunias, but I thought this horrible giant tarantula would make a lovely addition.’” She mused, shuddering at the thought. So maybe the spider hadn’t been a tarantula – but to the florist’s still tired eyes as she opened the shop this morning, it may as well have been. It wasn’t entirely her fault her scream (which she would deny had come from her) had drawn someone into the shop. “No one likes spiders.” She muttered, indignantly.

“Okay, okay!” Sicily replied, holding her hands up in surrender as she bit her bottom lip trying not to laugh. She’d been on her way to the studio when she’d heard the screaming coming from the shop. She’d never been afraid of bugs, so when she’d spotted the source of the problem she’d picked it up and carried it out. “Well I don’t like them, but I don’t hate them. It wasn’t a tarantula, I doubt your client would have even noticed.” She replied, offering a grin before she giggled. “Seriously, if it had been a snake I would have left you high and dry, but spiders I can do. My brother used to keep them as pets.”

“How hard can it be to get those damn curtains?” Athena groaned in frustration. Her assistant wasn’t at fault, and neither was the person the other woman was dealing with, but her job was supposed to be done a week ago and due to some stupid demands from her client, she couldn’t get a similar fabric. It had to be mulberry silk. “You know what, just—I’ll talk later. Fuckin’ rich people.” She added after pressing the end call button. Her gaze swept the streets in search of a specific place, as she gave a sigh, “I need a drink.”

Sicily couldn’t help the small chuckle as she overheard the conversation from where she was leaned against the wall. She was outside her studio, taking in the sunshine when the other woman ended the call. “Not all rich people are like that. Besides, I bet your client won’t know the difference in the actual colors.” She murmured before laughing gently. “There’s lots of places, but I’d recommend teh Dubliner to get good and drunk.”

“Well, this going to be much more difficult than I thought.” Jairus stared around the Dubliner, trying to see it through fresh eyes, but after nearly ten years of the same layout and decor–he couldn’t figure out what to do to make it–fresh. “At this point, I’m willing to just throw a bucket of paint at the wall and call it a day.”

Sicily couldn’t help but overhear the other’s words and she stopped, looking around a little. The place was cute, but she could see how it might need a little updating. “Why don’t you just look up some pictures and then incorporate the things you like? Remodels are tough, but having an idea helps.” She spoke up, voice soft as she shuffled from foot to foot.

No, it was just SICILY VANDERBILT, the 27 year-old who works as a/an DANCE INSTRUCTOR and if you ask anyone around town, they’ll tell you they are KIND and CHARISMATIC, but have been known to be STUBBORN and HOT-HEADED as well. Hey loves! I’m Aly and this is my tiny lovebug, Sicily. 

Sicily grew up in a very demanding family. She’s a Vanderbilt, and therefore practically New England royalty. As a child she had to be the best at everything she did to please her father. 

Her mother was a russian ballerina, and that’s how Sicily started in dance. From a young age she loved it more than she did anything else. Most girls wanted to play dress up or make believe and she just wanted to dance. 

Sicily’s mom died when she was ten, leaving her with her father. He shut down, refusing to allow her to dance because it reminded him to much of her mom. As a solution between them both he sent her to boarding school, one for the arts where she was able to continue dance, and later singing. 

When she was 17 she was offered a spot in a dance company, on she gladly took and she traveled the world for a few years from 17-25, until she decided that she wanted to open a dance studio. 

About a year ago she purchased space in Devinstone, and began having it remodeled into a studio for her to dance and teach. She moved to the town only months ago, and so far her studio is doing really well. 

She and her father are currently estranged because she chose to follow in her mothers footsteps and become a dancer. Though she’s very close with her older brother and younger sister. 

Sicily is quite complex. She has an anxiety disorder so she’s often very quiet and softspoken. That is until she warms up to someone and then she’s all over the place and doesn’t hardly know when to be quiet. 

She’s kind and loves to help others, though she’ll do it as anonymously as possible. She’s also got quite the temper on the flipside. It doesn't take a whole lot to make her angry. 

The only time you will never see her hesitate or her anxiety get to her is when she’s dancing. She may have a breakdown before or after, but while she’s moving it’s like she’s part of the music.
