i headcannon that rusty and dean were a lot alike in their teen/young adult years, that rusty was really sweet and sensitive, and as dean gets older and more jaded, he sounds more and more sarcastic and petty like his dad when he starts pushing back against everyone.

they go through the same being pushed into science courses in college, and notion of continuing a legacy, and both express a lot of the same ideas that this world is crazy and filled with insane people, and both struggle with finding themselves and establishing their own identity, and part of it is both of them losing or questioning their passion for super-science

the biggest difference is that rusty didn't have a brother like hank to get him out of his own head, and his time as a young adult in college trying to find himself was cut short with his father's death and he was forced to assume jonas venture's legacy...whereas dean has hank and rusty is a (somewhat) more supportive father and in being a failure sets the bar lower for dean as a venture

i wonder if killinger targeted both rusty & the monarch at the same time in s2 ep10 because he's the only person on earth who realized that they straight up share a soul. (because of how souls work in the vbros universe with all the clone bs) due to his bullshit mary poppins powers or whatever's going on with him this could be another reason to why he comes back again in the doctor is sin because he's like "Ok well if these two are the same guy then the best course of action for this asshole is for him to also become a supervillain"

yay...got my mego action figures of the monarch and doc!

the monarch was in rough shape, his boots had completely disintegrated and i had to super glue his goatee back on...he was very brave

trying to sew new boots out of some vinyl i got lying around...i think rusty is thinking about getting me to sew him a custom speedsuit

....and the boots don't fit him right so i'm gonna try again, but ...dangit fellas, right in front of my sewing machine? really?

anyway, playing with dolls is a completely normal thing to do with adult money and free will
