I'm sifrax, sif ,siffy or whatever you prefer.

This is a place where I can dump my thoughts out into the internet. Some stuff you're likely going to see a lot of is final fantasy 14 as that contents pretty evergreen.

Reposts of the odd meme, random thoughts about nothing in particular. And whatever game or movie or anything else that's taking my interest at the current moment (as of me writing this. It's Uma musume)

thinking about some aspects of game dev , like, for certain games how the hell do you do playtesting for puzzle games? how many play testers would you even need because you can never make, small changes especially for like mystery games. Like return of the obbra dinn, Chants of sennar. the roottrees are dead. that kind of very focused clue based mystery puzzle game. If you get somebody to playtest and they discover a clue but they don't like it, its unsatisfying or too hard etc. and you make a change to it but you cant use that playtester to test it anymore because they already knew the solution? so they cant gauge the feeling of the change am i making sense here?

Continuing to ramble about the roaring knight but this time positively its an idea i personally believe and it just makes them cool and its that the knight weaponizes ideas about the dark world that, are supposed to be for gags and bits and not make sense. You can freely alter yourself in a dark world to wear silly outfits and summon trays of medicine to be a nurse? cool, im going to turn myself into a bird so i can move faster or a ball so i can avoid attacks. you can pick up things and add them to your inventory that are physically impossible to do? like picking up a darkner the size of an adult man and storing them in an inventory (roulxes) , cool. im going to use this to kidnap people and add them to MY inventory. and sure, lemme whip this katana out of the palm of my hand, dont worry about how i was carrying it , it "was in my inventory" this is somebody, who has spent so much time in darkworlds they have WEAPONISED its rules. and thats just cool

okay i dont go here, but i want to ask the dess knighters (im a carol knighter) something. is there, a consensus on whats happening there? because it was my understanding dess was lost in the code. so is the code a flash back? is she dipping in and out of the code? is being the knight the same experience as being in the code? or is this an unknown? and its something you think the game will adress later?

Orange and Green you 2 are fine, you're on the right and you fight them by going to the right in flower castle So please, why cant Blue and yellow be on the left, like their rooms are in flower castle. it wounds my soul like

idk what to do with flowery but Green and orange are together yellow and blue are together, on the left where their doors are in flower castle and Seth and Aqua are together, am i the only one wanting this?

Writing to get the thoughts rumbling around in my head out there.. chapter 5 spoilers below you've been warned

But god the Knight. The knights goals and logistics and. All that are just absolutely what's the word... inconceivable?

Before I talk about logistics lemme talk about the goal.

What even is it? To start the roaring? Clearly not because like, 1 or 2 dark worlds a day ... doesn't seem the best way to achieve that. And has (as of chapter 5) seemingly been making these fountains for a while. So roaring. Not the goal here. If they wanted they could bang this out In like half an hour

Is it to get into the shelter? Kidnapping people with the codes to try and get in? Also no. Because Knights already in there chilling. Kidnap the police chief to get the police code...except you then...steal a 2nd former police chief so that's also not it.

And then like...why even try stealing toriel? What's even remotely the point there? Church code? Nah shelters already open.

And let me get into the logistics of it again.

How on earth do they even keep making these fountains? Like. Physically. With their light world self.

Chapter 1. This one's pretty rough, who's sneaking their way into a school without being spotted?

Chapter 2. Library less so, everyone can enter but how on earth do you manage to make a darkworld without the sole 2 occupants of the room noticing you?

Chapter 4 once again, this is basically a public place. And also, an empty building so basically any hometowner could have done this.

And now with chapter 5. This is another one of those ones where it's like. On a main road but pretty normal for any old person to walk into.

So like. What's the deal?

This is a person who's able to safely navigate the school, visit public places like libraries churches and flower shops without that really being odd to anyone on the street.

And is creating darkworlds and getting Kris to make darkworlds and is kidnapping people to do....... something?

Now personally? I'm a carol knight believer.

That's in my head. The easiest way to explain how this person's able to go everywhere they've been. Wouldn't be weird for the mayor to be walking around all these public places, she obviously would have known yknow, the teachers...at the singular school in town so she's gunna know gerson so that lines up.

To what end she's doing this? I have absolutely no idea. Not a clue

Maybe she's feeding people to undead lighter dess. Maybe she's engineering a scenario where noelle gains some backbone. Legitimately who's to say? Maybe shes kidnapping people who have worse looking armour than her who knows

I do always love rambling about the knight. It's a fun time.

What exactly is fun values? Purely mechanically speaking like how does it work?

I always hear it thrown around but I've never grasped it. Is it just RNG?

Because as far I understand certain things only happen at certain fun values. Like the Gaster followers are tied to fun values right? Trying to grasp how this all works and it it's even possible to see these things on a first play through.

IIRC, every playthrough, you start with a fixed FUN value, 1-100. Depending on what number you get, something can occur. Some things, like the wrong number song, are guaranteed to happen if you have the FUN value. Some things, like the Gaster door, only have a chance of occurring. For things like the Gaster followers and the door, once you experience the event, the FUN value is reset to 0, so you can't experience it again.

So, Gaster door and the Gaster followers. There is ... A chance? They show up on a first play through?

And is this like. Fun value has to be over a certain value like the door only occurs at fun higher than like 80

Or do you need specifically 80 and if you roll 81 at the start of your save you won't get it?

Absolutely, there's a chance to get them on the first playthrough.

Some events are a range, like 80-89, and some are specifics, I believe.

My subway experiment

So, on the surface, a fairly unassuming subway sandwich, but this is the product of At minimum , 59 weeks of experimentation and research. A meticulous process of ranking every individual aspect of a subway sandwich on its own, on a scale of 1 to 10. and picking the best of each category in order to find what should be to me the perfect sandwich. so let me break down the categories

bread

fillings (toasted and untoasted ranked separately

Cheese

Paid Extras

salad options

sauce options

seasonings

take the default option of a subway. that being , by their own branding the classic BMT, Classic to me screams the default option toasted , with white bread, no cheese no salad. then the next week, I'd order the same thing but the BMT is swapped roast chicken, then repeat for every filling, then for salad, we get a toasted white bread BMT , but with only lettuce, then with only peppers next week, and the week after only pickles. you get the gist.

now that was a lot of tables so for those who dont wana go through the numbers, the winning sandwich was (posted at the start of the post) toasted meatball marinara. with honey and oat bread, vegan cheese. with hashbrowns pickles tomato and jalapeno. with teriyaki and sweet onion sauces and sea salt. And genuinely? genuinely. that was a delicious subway experience. the marinara teriyaki and sweet onion sauces all blended together the hashbrowns and pickles helped maintain the structure while not being too wet or too dry. the jalapenos blended with the honey in the bread to create a hot honey sort of experience. the whole sandwich wasnt too saucy or too chewy or too meaty or too full of vegies, didnt feel too full or empty or dry or wet. everything worked together so well in a way i could never have predicted or planned for. maybe this would have gone differently had some stuff not been discontinued over the course of this experiment. but the end result? this is without a doubt my new fave subway.
