For silasmaddox
“Hello, my name is Jinx and I’d like to speak to you about your medications. You’re Silas, correct?”
“Yes, I’m Silas, and I’d rather not go through this right now. I can think of better things to do, including attempting to take all of the doors off of their hinges using nothing but a spoon.”
“That makes me your best friend too then.”
“That sounds awful… I’ve only been here a few days… Dad was a jerk and threw me in here cos he can’t handle me anymore.”
“That it does.”
“Did he? I never did like him, and it seems like I have more of a reason not to now.”
“You’d better have missed me, nobody else seems to respect my personal space like you do… Oh? Yeah I remember that… Okay, I’ll remember that.”
“Have you been in this hell hole for long?”
“Why wouldn’t I? You’re my only friend.”
“No, I haven’t been, but I’ve been thrown between similar places since I left school. What about you?”
“I tried calling a few times, did kinda wonder why you never got back to me… I’ve missed you, you know that? It’s really nice to see a familiar face in this dump…“
“I’ve been away from home for a while. I’ve . . missed you too. You know that thing I do with names? I’ve done it here, too - just a heads up.”
“Really? That’s… concerning,” Jet said as she got on line. “Have you been in a lot of places like Eichen? This is my first time in one.” She had visited people in a hospital mental ward, but never a long term facility. “Friends aren’t the most enticing thing here, but I think it helps to have a couple people to stick by. It helped me at least.”
“It is - and yes, I have. This is my fourth or fifth place; I’ve lost count.” He didn’t care to keep track, not anymore. “Has it? I’m not a very friendly person, in case you haven’t realized that yet, and I’m not exactly eager to try and fake it.”
Cassie nodded. “Alright, thanks. I’ve got the lighter covered for now. Managed to grab one from some guy’s desk a couple weeks ago,” she replied with a small shrug.
“If you’re done asking me questions now, I think I’m going to go find a better place to sleep,” he said, the vague traces of friendliness that he’d allowed to enter his voice vanishing as he spoke. “See you around, Cassie.”
“Silas? Is that you? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me?”
“It is. Now do you understand why I haven’t been returning your calls? That is, assuming you called at all.”
Tiffany stood in her new room, looking around in disgust, not liking it one bit. She didn’t want to be here but she’d been given no choice… it was boring and confining and she hated the rules. She let out an angry sigh before turning as she heard someone open the door. “Who are you? What do you want?” she demanded.
“I heard one of my friends was here, and I thought I’d come see her. I know it’s been years, but don’t you recognize me?”
nightmare || Silas + Nicolai
Nicolai let out a small sigh, “It’s not an act, I do actually care. If you want me to leave, I will, I hope you get some rest,” he said softly, not wishing to be a bother although he apparently was being now even though he only wanted to help.
“Yes; thank you. I’m sure you think you care, but I’ve been through enough of these facilities to know that none of you do. Now, goodbye.” Silas settled back down on his bed, then rolled over and covered his head with the blankets. No need to be attentive any longer.
“Please do.”
Silas listed off a small number of medications - the right ones, of course - while wondering if she’d simply believe him and give him what he’d said. “Just those. It sounds like a lot, I know.”
“Okay… right, got it, thanks,” she replied, letting out a sigh. “Don’t suppose you know any way to get your hands on some smokes in these places, do you?”
“Ask the security guards. They’ve usually got something. Worst comes to worst, you can always sneak some in with a friend. The hard part is getting a lighter, and I don’t know enough about this place in particular to help you out with that.”
“Eh, this place is kind of- I don’t know, sketchy?” Jet scrunched her face in thought. “Try to befriend the kitchen staff. If you’re not slick enough to steal, some’ll just hand it out.”
“Most of these places are. If you get transferred after this, you’ll see what I mean. Don’t be surprised.” Silas couldn’t say he was excited to attempt to befriend anyone, but he’d take her advice under consideration. “I’ll think about it.”
“You’re just following me around for no reason,” Samantha replied dully, flicking through the notes and various pages. Nothing. “Jesus,” the nurse muttered to herself, already growing irritated with the lack of organisation in the place.
“Wonderful. Amazing. Would it be easier for me to tell you what it is that I’m on? This place is a mess.”
nightmare || Silas + Nicolai
“I’m not playing hero, I’m a member of staff, it’s my job to make sure people here are safe,” he replied with a small sigh, not liking the apparent hostility directed at him.
“Okay… Nicolai, my name’s Nicolai.”
“A member of staff? Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. You really don’t have to keep the act up; we all know that none of you actually care about us. Could you be Nicolai outside of my room? I’d like to try and get back to sleep now.”
“Yep. Don’t suppose you got any tips of how to handle these places, do you?” She asked.
“Don’t talk to irritable people, don’t touch people without asking beforehand, and don’t have sex with any of the nymphomaniacs.”
“You’d be surprised what you can get away with.” Jet said as she pushed the door to the cafe open. “The whole ‘no sexual interactions’ thing is pointless because most of the older patients are sleeping with each other.”
“Oh, really? I’m surprised-- not really, but I would’ve thought that a place with as many patients as this one would keep a closer eye on everyone.”
