there has been a horrible mistake in one of these and you will just have to #ignore it. also thinly veiled GoT reference somewhere which also reminds me I miss Jace come home Jace cry emoji
im gonna geek about this SOOOO bad, i love these designs i think they're pretty neat and could definitely some major arcana cards, while they have different names, these could definitely be a design for a tarot deck. and yes i will be yapping abt the designs one by one
* will be talking exclusively abt major arcana cards though i must say some of these can also fit the minor arcana
yapping under the cut
the masquerade feels a lot like the magician, since its all about manifestation and the willpower to create or make a decision but when reversed, its all about illusions (or trickery) the masks being present and having a sad and happy face FITS THE THEME OF IT SO WELL LIEK COME ONNNNN
next is the timekeeper, which by itself, makes me think of the wheel of fortune, the future isn't set, and anything can change within a few seconds or hours or months or years within your life. it can also talk about cycles, just like how a clock resets whenever a new day starts. but if reversed, it's all about losing control, like how i said esrlier, the future isn't a fully set timeline. we don't know what will happen later or tomorrow or the next year. and it talks about loosing yourself and feeling frustrated of the situation you're unraveling.
NEXT, is the hare. this feels a LOTT like the fool. hear me out, hare at first glace, could be mistaken for rabbits/bunnies that are usually percieved as innocent (the bunnies) which is another definition or way to interpret the fool when upright, another is that hares are wild animals while rabbits are usually domesticated and kept as house pets, so in a sense, a hare is more free (freedom) which is another meaning for the fool. it can also mean new beginnings, which from the illustration, (in my opinion) shows a hare hopping over as like a transition into something new.
next is the songbirds, which idk actually, i got a lot of vibes from the devil or like temperance but im not exactly sure. the devil due to the meaning of it reversed is "restoring control" or otherwise, freedom from restraints holding you back (metaphorically, or maybe literally). temperance because of "patience" and/or "peace"(?) due to how calming i find the songbirds illustration...
THE SWANS IS DEFINITELY THE LOVERS CARD. i am hearing no other opinion (joking, i will). like, swans literally mate for life, they're literally the epitomy of love. but just not about romantic partners, because the lovers also can be talking about platonic or familial relationships too. ITS SO DGUDHDIWKSJDIEODBFJRLENRN
next is the crescent WHICH IS OBVIOUSLYYY THE MOON??? no questions asked.
THE RAPID SEAS is most definitely the chariot. not just BECAUSE it is a mode of transportation (bc theres a ship) but it's also the fact that the usual definition is direction and also control. getting the chariot in a reading usually means you are in control of your life, you're experiencing or experienced hurdles but you've overcame them.
the blazing fury is self-explanatory, it's the sun. like come on now.
the lighthouse makes me feel like it's about the hermit. contemplating all on your own in the middle of the sea. with only just yourself and a light to guide.
the knight is absolutely judgement. OR!!! justice. as knights are usually interpreted to be following a moral code and the law within their kingdom. getting either cards would be about the truth and/or reflection about a specific situation in your life. since these two tarot cards are mentioned, im also torn in choosing for oathkeeper as the vibe the name suggests also ties within the definition of the cards above.
and lastly, but definitely not the least, the dragon slayer. this honestly just makes me think of nothing else BUT the tower. think about it, dragons are also within the context of destruction which is a definition for the tower card as it is all about sudden and unexpected disaster, oh!! and its also on a tower. and you are the dragon slayer, you are to manevour this sudden devastation in your life in a way that makes you remember that you're human, and there's only so much you can do.
Mismagius is conceptually based on a witch, a connection strengthened by its purple colour scheme which may be inspired by the purple skin of the Nasu-Babā, a witch-like Yokai. Its Pokédex entries stating that its cries sound like it’s a tormented person may be a reference to the Irish Banshee, a spirit from Irish Mythology depicted as a wailing woman. Additionally, it may also be inspired by various Polish spirits, such as the zmory, a succubus-esque spirit associated with night terrors, or the strzygi, a scarecrow spirit. This is strengthened by the red gems on its body resembling red korale beads, which were popular in 19th century Poland and were said to be imbued with magical power.
Most Interesting Pokédex Entry:
“It appears as if from nowhere—muttering incantations, placing curses, and giving people terrifying visions.” - Sun
