Ah it’s fine, it’s fine, between work and class, I haven’t had much time to do anything at all really. 

Ah, yeah, that…  I’m okay now!  Get the cast off in a few more weeks, I’m healing up pretty good.  Everything is fine.

Mhmm!  They seem to be doing alright?  Gabriel has been here for a while now, so he’s gotten used to the spooks. If you let him know you’re around, he usually just walks into you, instead of trying to bite you.  Sachael can be tempted away from most things if you feed him or offer him a chew toy, so that’s fine.  As for the ghosts, they’re still a little off from the attack.  They’re getting better, but they’re still a little too clingy and out of it to be their usual selves.  No doubt they’ll all get back into the swing of it soon and the house will be chaotic again. 

I can’t wait…

Maybe we could meet up soon? Things seem to be calming down soon, and I think I could definitely use a break! You as well, if you’ve been working that hard on top of injuries.

I’m sure it’ll at least feel more like usual once they go back to being themselves, though? Even if it’s a bit more... tiring? And you’re always welcome over here if you need a break, мой друг.

Matti! It’s been a while! Sachael has one!  Well, he has chew toys, which are basically the same thing at the end of the day. As for why, the first is Sariel (bites when he’s in a temper), the second is Gabriel, a Deino, and also a gift from Vince and Johnny and the third is Sachael, a newly hatched Totodile whose egg was dropped on my doorstep at Easter. As long as the spooks stick to the rules (no poking, prodding, tormenting or making Gabriel and Sachael jump) we should be okay! At least, I’m hoping we’ll be okay.

It really has, hasn’t it? I’ve been so busy helping Brynja and Silk finish last minute projects that I haven’t seen much of anyone except various customers and shopkeepers...  I meant to stop by after Silk said something about you being hurt, but things have been so hectic it must’ve slipped my mind...

Ah, so the last two were gifts, then? That makes sense. But having one blind biter and one newly hatched one must be quite a handful! I’m sure it’s awfully  tempting for the ghosts to play with them because of that...

They are lucky I love them enough to suffer their teasing, despite being sure that I just ingested something truly spoiled and rotten. To think such a nightmare came from my mother’s kitchen...

It was taking every ounce of energy Brynja had to keep from laughing. For as much as Silk loved to be the stoic witch, calm and cool as could be, there was a special sort of pleasure in seeing her reduced to such emotional outbursts as she had around her mother.

The witch was bent over the sink repeatedly rinsing out her mouth with water, although the disgusted look across her face suggested that it wasn’t doing any good to remove the taste of the concoction she’d tried upon her mother’s request. As expected of Silk’s family, Rose simply watched, calm in the fact of Silk’s distress with only the slightest quirk of her lips to suggest her amusement.

“You overreact, my child,” she chided with a truer smile appearing as Silk turned narrowed eyes to her.

“I do not!” Silk cried, swiping roughly at her mouth with a hand towel. “It tasted like… like spiced roadkill!”

“Sometimes it cannot be helped, and you must choose either a potion that is highly effective or decently tasting. You asked for the former, Silk, it is not my fault that this time the latter had to be sacrificed.”

“And you could not have warned me that you were bringing me death in a flask?”

Finally Silk’s words broke the dam Brynja had been so carefully holding in place, and laughter spilled out of her to the respective annoyance and amusement of the witch and her mother. The cloth in Silk’s hands turned to a weapon, the tip whipping out and catching Brynja in the side. It only caused her laughter to double, too amused with Silk’s childish antics.

“You know you will have to drink some of this as well,” Silk warned.

“It’s worth it, to see you like this!” Again the towel lashed out at her, but Brynja managed to catch hold and yank it from Silk’s grip. “Just, don’t tell Matti how bad it is. I want to see if he reacts even half as badly as you do.”

Somewhat Unconventional Visit

“The forest seemed like the best place for them.  They’d have been safe in there, what with Michael watching over them.  She wouldn’t dare go beyond the trees.”  It had been one of the few places had Samael had felt safe, hidden away in the old church.  Kushiel hadn’t dared to go up against Michael.  She’d challenged Belial and Nuriel, but she obviously wasn’t stupid enough to challenge the guardian of the forest.  “I do hope they come back though, it’s their home, they shouldn’t have to leave.” 

Samael hummed and tried to remember just what they’d told the ghosts over the phone.  They’d said they were okay, but beyond that?  Not much. 

“Maybe don’t, you know, tell them just how shit I look?  I don’t want them to worry.  I wouldn’t put it passed them to all gang up and force their way if they thought it was too bad.”

“A small blessing, then, that there were areas she dared not go. Hopefully they return, or if they do not, then may they find places that they consider equally as good or better to make their new homes.” Blessings from tragedies, a thought she often used to console herself. Surely it had to be just as true with Pokemon as it was for her?

Silk laughed, shaking her head. “I will try to avoid telling them you ‘look like shit.’ You surely look better right now than you did when you left them. Perhaps I can have Brynja meet me on the way, to bring some lavender for them. I do not have any lavender baked goods, but the herb itself is soothing, especially to spirits. They may find some good use for it, perhaps even just to keep them at ease while they await your return.

“I would have brought something for you, as well,” she added regretfully, “But I did not know if you would be able to have it, or if the hospital would allow it. I do not… really know the rules of this place…” For the first time in her visit she allowed herself to give the room a decent glance-over, quite clearly with a level of disdain. “Hospitals and I are not friends.”

Aura’s attention instantly shifted to the Pokemon, “Y-yes… I can speak to Pokemon j-just fine… I am sorry… I’m not good at speaking People yet…” 

Koma shrugged at the cat’s statement, and folded his hands behind his head, “That sounds like’a cop out ta me!” He turned back to Silk, “We uh… yes?” 

He wasn’t quite sure how to explain that, as Pokemon, they had an easier time talking to Pokemon than People… but he ‘wasn’t supposed to let people know’. Which of course, sounded totally silly to him!

Omega smiled reassuringly at the girl. ‘That’s nothing to apologize for. It took me a while to learn how to use telepathy with humans, their languages can be hard. I’m sure you’ll get it eventually. I don’t know how humans can stand to learn... How many do the others speak, again?’ The question was aimed back at his companion, who chuckled. 

“Brynja speaks... five, if her claims are correct. Far more than I can ever dream of.”

“That must be a refreshing profession, travelling as a career. Difficult, I suspect, but the rewards must be wonderfully unique to it.” Were she less tied to her home by the forest, she might have considered something of the same. Surely more places than just Hoenn could use the services of a herbalist.

His praise of his companion warmed her heart. He seemed like a decent man, to give such adoration to a Pokemon companion. “Truly, it is. I have had Hecate as a companion since childhood, and I thank the gods that I was so lucky as to be given her. Omega began as the companion of my husband, and while I knew them both while I was young, we did not have this strong of a bond until after his death.”

The cat in her lap sighed with a small frown, prompting the witch to lean down and place a kiss atop his head. “A blessing from a tragedy. Where Hecate gives me strength and urges me forward, Omega reminds me to step back and consider dangers. I do not know where I would be now without both of them by my side.”

Uh oh! Koma saw the cat!

He crouched down and smiled at the Meowstic, “Hiya! What’s yer name? Are ya strong? I’d challenge ya, but my sister would tattle!” He looked back up at Silk, “Silk Da… Day… uh…” He quickly gave up and shrugged it off, “My sister isn’t allowed to go on a journey yet! Mom said she can’t go until she learns how to speak People-Talk! She won’t learn like I did though!” 

It’s not her fault her brother was a silly-head, with a big mouth! Mommy and Daddy told them not to tell anyone that they were Pokemon!

Although startling slightly at the excitable child, the cat surprisingly held his ground. ‘My name is Omega. I don’t think Silk would appreciate me battling young children, even if you offered.’

“’People talk?’” Silk repeated with a curious tilt of her head. “Can she speak non-human speech, perhaps? Or might you mean a language not spoken here?”

‘Or telepathy, like me?’ Omega added, turning his attention to the girl in question.

Samael felt themselves flush from the praise, faint pink settling across their freckle dusted cheeks. Still, they didn’t bow their head like they usually would, didn’t try to hide it behind a curtain of dual coloured hair. They simply smiled and let Silk see just how touched they were by her praise. It was the least they could do, to let her know they valued her opinion enough to grow embarrassed over her words. “You always say the nicest things Miss Daeva. And I’m glad that everything has been going well, you deserve a kind life.”

They let themselves think about their own home before answering. How it had been when Wes first moved in, how they had grown a little distant now that he was out all the time. Still, they found they couldn’t complain, school and their work on the grounds were keeping them busy enough that they didn’t have much spare time to dwell.

“It’s been mostly okay? School’s been a little hectic, and I’m still trying to get used to being the sole grounds keeper, but the ghosts help out where they can, to make my work load a little easier.”

The mention of the cleanse tags has them frowning a little. “The Lost Boys were sent into the forest before I even began to stick them up. I didn’t want to cause them anymore hassle than Kushiel already had. Poor things, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them didn’t come back, she was so bloody mean to them. As for mine? The tags apparently only work on wild ones? They didn’t seem to have any problems getting out of the house after I got hurt.” Still…

“I… If it’s not too much trouble though, would you mind just, checking on them? They know you and you being there won’t distress them more than they already are. I know they’ll be okay, but after what happened… Maybe someone familiar letting them know I’m as fine as I said I was would help?” Samuel had called to let them know they were fine, but it was one thing to hear it from them and another thing entirely to have a second party, especially one they liked, confirm it.

“As do you, Samael, as do you.” Her smile grew at the other’s blush, quite pleased with herself for being the cause of it, though the thought of Samael’s wild ghosts being chased off dimmed it considerably. Poor things, being hassled in a place they’d taken to viewing as a good place to rest a while, possibly even tentatively calling it a home in some cases.  

Although the thought to visit whether or not they said requested it of her was already solidly in her mind, Silk nodded in compliance. Truly, it was practically on her way home already, it would be remiss of her not to peek in. “It would be my pleasure to check up on them. I imagine it must have been hard on them, especially with how they care for you and knowing you were harmed. But perhaps some of the wild ones have returned, now that their harasser has left? Even if I can’t imagine it feels quite the same to them without you there. And I am sure you will rest easier as well, knowing things are going alright there. You should be focusing on resting, not worrying on if things may or may not be happening at home.”

“Although…” Silk added, leaning back as her grin shifted into what might be considered a smirk if she was capable of such. “Just how ‘fine’ did you tell them you were? I would hate for them to think our stories are not matching up correctly…”
