We haven't had Mark Scout being an embarassment and an alcoholic for a couple of episodes so I'm glad he's still got it as he tries to order WHISKEY ON ROCKS at a FUNERAL

Top episode 1 visual storytelling is the "zooming out" effect of mark and irv supposedly watching helly on security camera (putting them in the position of power over helly) but really THEY are ALSO being watched (by the real power, cobel and milchick) and nervously looking back at the security cameras

Like the first episode starts off in Helly's perspective where Mark seems like an all powerful omnipotent saw trap running guy speaking through a microphone and watching her from a camera and standing entirely in shadow.

But then thats subverted as we switch to MARK'S POV and hes fumbling and not in control at all and has nothing to do with the circumstances, the real power (cobel and milchick) just put him in this spot.

So the purpose of these visuals was to further close the power gap between Mark&Irv and Helly, that theyre really in exactly the same situation of being trapped here by Cobel.

Another way they do that is when Helly rattles the doorknob and both Irv and Mark are startled. the audience too has become suddenly learned that theyre not in some distant unreachable room but right there behind one flimsy lock, making them physically near.

And I guess the third layer to this "whos really in control and watching them all" is that Cobel and Milchick arent at the top either - theres the Board who is entirely silent on the speakets but monitoring All Of Them including Cobel and Mark and Helly etc. Its surveillence all the way up baby!!!
