Glinda is in the blue 2024 USWNT kit bc I don't like the white one lol, and her pose is inspired by a shot of Heaps/Horan during a Lyon vs PSG game a few months ago iirc, and before I had started drawing I hesitated with finding a shot of Macario celebrating her FA Cup final goal bc when I was watching the game I thought it'd make for a wonderfully dynamic reference

I also thought about changing up Glinda’s kit for an Arsenal one after them winning the Champions’ League yesterday (what a game!) But I'm lazy

Now Elphaba I'll admit I don't know much about any track and field events oops, I genuinely only know the names of 4 runners and 2 of them are men, however one of these 4 is the iconic Marie-José Pérec who, just like Elphaba in the fic, is a triple olympic champion in 200m and 400m! In fact she's France's only triple olympic champion in any track event, and you may have seen her during the opening ceremony last summer, she (along with our most legendary Judoka) lit up the olympic cauldron!
